I’m only posting this for one reason! Stop doubting, big transfers take time. PSG gave LFC conditions of sale, it’s done, announcement to come. No bull, no games, not interested in thanks, just bored of the doubters. It’s all done, Formby mansion chosen.

10 Aug 2026 20:01:31
Sorry, Robbie, but until LFC hold Barcola's registration, it's not "done".

If it was "done" he'd be training with us, not PSG.

10 Aug 2026 20:17:28
Trust me, lads.

10 Aug 2026 20:26:34
Where's the Truther? Hahaha.

10 Aug 2026 20:41:07
I can understand the pessimism from some, as it seems like talks are dragging at snail's pace, but the reality is it's a "done" deal.

Previously, there was an understanding that it would take the official signing of Akliouche and Godts to allow the deal to be formalised, but PSG going in for Ferran Torres took some by surprise.

The player has spoken with several players, has begun the moving process, and is just waiting on the green light from PSG to travel for a medical. That green light could be tomorrow, or it could be August 31st, but the green light is coming.

10 Aug 2026 20:43:36
I'm the truther and I believe him.

Ken.

10 Aug 2026 20:55:15
Thanks VG.

10 Aug 2026 21:02:54
Thanks VG.

10 Aug 2026 21:05:51
It can't really be "done" before a medical, it's always pending a medical.
LFC are idiots if they're happy for PSG to feck them about like this.
Time to set them a deadline. The player needs to be training with us.

10 Aug 2026 21:18:37
Tanks, VG.

10 Aug 2026 21:32:19
I have it on good authority, Nabil Fekir is a done deal. Pictures and press all done, we're just pending a medical that started in 2018.

10 Aug 2026 21:32:42
I don't think PSG are fecking anyone about? It's called negotiations.

If we flipped the scenario on its head, you would be going mad if we let Ekitike go without having found replacement/s.

It's not FIFA, and you don't just press a button to buy all your favourite players.

It's a massive investment with multiple facets and legal and sponsorship implications. I am sorry it is not going as fast as you think it should be, Ron. Who are you going to moan about when Barcola gets signed because it seems there is no pleasing some people.

10 Aug 2026 21:38:19
Thanks VG.

And, I'm with you, Inbeta. It takes time.

10 Aug 2026 21:45:46
Fair point, Inbeta.
The deal is agreed, but PSG's replacements need to be signed before Barcola is let go (or that is what I understand).

But equally, he isn't a Liverpool player until he wears the shirt. For all we know, PSG will pull out if Torres/Aklouche don't arrive.

10 Aug 2026 21:53:58
Strikes me that the new investors might want the announcement after their own, as it would be good p.r.

10 Aug 2026 22:05:24
I, like many others on here, have seen the light. We now will only believe when the Truther confirms it. He speaks the truth. If he doesn't, how could he have such a name? I'd like to see you, so called ITK's, explain that!

10 Aug 2026 22:22:10
I just don't understand how we can allow ourselves to be stung along until the time suits PSG.

During that time, missed training, tactics and team bonding with the squad ready for the new season. I do not see the benefit on our side of allowing PSG to dictate, unless there is a financial compensation.

10 Aug 2026 22:31:28
RedQ, there very well could be.

They might have agreed a price on the proviso that we don't announce anything until they are ready. If we want him in right now, it might cost us more.

We could also be looking at it from the new investment point of view, and like others have said, it's good PR if we announce it after Bezos and co is finalised.

A delayed announcement could suit both parties.

At the end of the day, what does a few weeks matter when you're signing a player for 5 years? He's been on holiday anyway until today, so we've missed nothing.

10 Aug 2026 22:38:45
If they want all their players in first then I hope we aren't paying PSG exactly want they want for Barcola.

Suits them to save money buying players, but not for us?

Can we be cheeky, and if they sign all their players on the dotted line then we could negotiate a lower price for Barcola....

Can't keep him after spending all that money!!

10 Aug 2026 22:39:40
Serious question, is it even possible to sign Barcola without first offloading another non HG player?

10 Aug 2026 22:48:25
Yes. There is nothing stopping teams signing whoever they want, just ask Chelsea.

Registering players for various competitions doesn't come until later.

Are you 100% positive we're not selling anyone??

10 Aug 2026 22:50:07
We can sign him and as many as we wish, but if we are short of HG spaces, we just can't register someone else.

I imagine Ekitike won't be registered for this half of the season. But when he's fit, I think Chiesa is most likely to make way.

10 Aug 2026 23:13:58
Common sense might tell you PSG would likely rather Torres and Godts were secured before making everything with Barcola official.

10 Aug 2026 23:48:15
So if that's the case, Chewy and others, then Barcola might not actually sign for us.
If PSG are relying on Torres and Godts to sign, then there's a good chance we're not getting Barcola.

11 Aug 2026 00:01:21
I'm not sure I fully believe that PSG are waiting on a few players to replace one, maybe was one but wasn't he already completed. Especially since they are already well stocked in his positions.
There's likely also just something yet to be fully agreed.

And even though we are panicking about how long this has been going on. Barcola has literally been chilled out on holidays. If he is coming, he now has his life to uproot to a different country.

11 Aug 2026 00:19:31
I agree with Ron here. Barcola hasn't yet had a medical, so it definitely isn't done. There might be an agreement in principle, but that is different. Everyone was saying Semenyo was done, and look what happened there.

What about the midfielder that was done, before he ended up at Arsenal.
Maybe it will get done, but maybe it won't, but the fact right now is it isn't yet.

11 Aug 2026 00:54:48
It's nothing to do with new owners etc. This is a while in the making. As Inbeta says, there's a lot of admin attached to these big money transfers and it'll be announced when both clubs agree to do so. Simple really.

11 Aug 2026 01:02:53
Since Hughes joined, Liverpool's approach has been to handle relationships with selling clubs delicately. It worked with Newcastle. We waited for them to get replacements, and negotiation was smooth once they were ready to sell.
Same story with PSG, but in this case it looks we have all our eggs in one basket.

You gotta believe there is some strategy behind it. I don't think they'll take a huge risk like that... letting alternate options move to other clubs. 3 of them to PSG.

11 Aug 2026 01:05:01
Aspas, it's more to do with the number of "non home grown" players in the squad. We can technically go out and sign as many foreign players as we like, but we can only register 17 for the Premier League.
Therefore, it is highly likely someone from our list of non homegrown, which is now at 17, will be heading out, sold or on loan.

Cheisa would be my guess.
Either that, or they sit getting paid and can't play a game for us.

11 Aug 2026 10:45:36
Kloppdog, our non-HG list for the Premier League has spaces. It's the non-HG list for the UCL that is a bit tighter.

That's because Leoni and Jacquet count as U21 for the EPL (but not for the UCL as they haven't been here long enough).

Also, given that squad lists can be updated in Jan for both EPL and UCL (due to that window), I would imagine that Ekitike could be left off both lists, as the earliest he will realistically be returning from his injury is Dec/Jan.

11 Aug 2026 10:50:04
BTW, Barcola is obvs non-HG, but if we also bought Mbaye, he will qualify as U21 for EPL, but not UCL.

Also, looking at our current registered non-HG players, ones that have been linked with moves away (no guarantees, but links) include:

Tsimikas (possibly with Chambers stepping in)
Endo (most recently)
Macca (possibly with Wharton or Scott if he leaves)
Chiesa
Gakpo (possibly if we get both Barcola and Mbaye)

So, with up to 5 places opening up, Barcola and Mbaye to come in, plus some HG players either coming in or stepping up from the Academy, I know we'll be fine.

11 Aug 2026 11:51:46
Thanks for responses, guys - already understood that we can have non-HG players on our books that aren't registered to play, but the question was more a timing concern knowing Liverpool's preference to minimise transfer risk and excess wage costs.

Let's hope Hughes etc have their ducks in a row. Btw, I believe Calvin Ramsay is classified as being non-HG, if in case there are no other guaranteed outgoings, I imagine the club can't afford him taking one of these spots.

11 Aug 2026 13:17:56
Yeah, forgot about Ramsay. He's almost a shoe-in to go as he no longer counts as U21. I think the club haven't seen a future for him for quite some time - Klopp, Slot, or now Iraola don't see a position for him, it appears - as if they did have plans for him, they would have sent him on loan in 2025 to a club in England or Wales, in which case he would have qualified as HG now.

I believe he counts as HG in Scotland given his loans and his history at Aberdeen, so I can see a low £ms transfer to Scotland coming up or a free transfer at the end of his contract in 2027. He's on low, comparative wages, so not a huge issue if we can't get anything for him now.
