Hi all,
Daily post to say we have not walked away from the Barcola deal. We can all move along now.
Jokes aside, this has taken way longer than I thought it would. If I gave a reason for why I think it’s still been taking its time, I’d be lying. In truth, I’m not entirely sure why it’s dragging on because I was assured it was on the verge of finalisation a couple of days back.
Hughes is playing a dangerous game but the deal still gets done regardless. I’ve zero doubts about that. It’s just the wait that p***es me off.

I’ve spoken to about two dozen LFC fans, and not a single player me wants Barcola. No one has any idea why we want him. We need a right winger and a cdm above everything. It’s just shocking business. Not a single LFC fan wants a PSG bench player.

I'll take Barcola every day of the week. He is a great player and will be a better player than Gakpo, although I think that Gakpo is pretty good to start with. Maybe Gakpo moves to striker.

Nathlfc, that's bull. He isn't a bench player, he has played every time he has been fit. He had a long injury last year, and PSG have some of the best wingers in world football. He is better than what we have, also we are after a right winger, why do you think we been looking at Minteh and Mbaye.
Come on, the ITK's have been saying all this, too many down beats in this chat. Now we will be strong once the season gets going, and I sure do want to see Barcola and Minteh in our shirts, they will both be class.

We want him because we need pace in the side more than anything, and when it comes to running in behind and eating up space, he is the absolute best in the market right now. Though his finishing can leave a bit to be desired, he is also an absolute chance magnet in terms of creating for himself and others. Forget the fact that he plays left wing, and think about what attributes he brings to the side.
Look at what Munoz brought to the team when he was introduced in lieu of Rio yesterday. Pace and athleticism are supreme in the prem now.
Also, I imagine that a lot of folks on here want this PSG bench player (and Mbaye, another PSG bench player). I wasn't entirely convinced before, but the more I think about it, the more Barcola makes perfect sense.

Barcola on left and two of Mbaye/Minteh/Ngumoha on the right would be a great end to the transfer window, save for an addition in the midfield that we crave. tbh I hope we don't sign Minteh, he's injured till December and we're wanting to pay for an injured player?

Whatever we might think of the club's transfer policies and targets, I think it's very important that they don't think about what players supporters want to see us sign! I remember the apoplexy around us not signing Timo Werner (after we'd just won the title too and should have been in celebration mode).

Just would like to add that I too don't know what the hold up is - I was told the fee and payment structure is all agreed and it's just a matter of coming for the medical and signing over the weekend.
Not had anything since from my buddy, presumably no news is good news - as counter-intuitive as that seems.
As my buddy is getting info from the PSG side, it's hard to understand what the LFC side is doing - but to reiterate that PSG have agreed a payment structure with LFC as of late last week.

From the outside looking in, it appears that STC is leaving Liverpool out to dry. I don't understand why business couldn't be done and dusted weeks ago. But then again, I'm not very knowledgeable about these things.

Majority of fans don't see what Barcola brings to the table and hence are not bothered... In fact, they will be silently happy if we don't sign him (looking like Isak saga all over again).
The ones who want us to sign Barcola are ITK's who said he will sign and their fans.

Baldock, I'm sorry, but I don't agree. This time last year, when we bought these players, they were the best in the business. Kerkez was probably the best lb in the league. Frimpong was contributing to 10 goals a season at Leverkusen and was being sold at a good price. Isak was in the top 3 strikers in the world and Wirtz was the dream player everyone wanted.
We have been unlucky with Isak and Frimpong with injuries last season, and Wirtz was constantly played in different positions. Once we settle and get in a few more players, they will all come good. People need to just relax. We've had one game, with players coming back late from holidays. The team needs time to gel.

Really not sure what's going on and why Chelsea seem to sign 4 players during lunch (not that I want to be anything like Chelsea...), but Liverpool can botch up Guehi, Semenyo, Diomande, and maybe Barcola (hopefully not), with months of endless posturing and who knows what.
Salah announced months ago - things should have begun motioning then, but yet - here we are.
Frustrating, but what do I know - maybe there is a perfect plan in place.

I thought we would sell Gapko, but think it makes sense to keep him as backup to Isak. Iraola mentioned this during a recent interview, and I think it makes sense, even though Gapko is not a great finisher. Having said that, he finished well yesterday!

Of course we want Barcola.
I don't know who can watch our forward line and not want to add a quality forward to it.
Will say it again too. Barcola is just a talented player, he can easily play on the right.
People have been excited about Rio playing there but are adamant Barcola has to play on the left and there only.
Do wonder is the Gakpo situation a reason. He looked odd on to be out the door, but now not so sure.
I hope not as I think we desperately need more options and attacking threat.

Big clubs get their signings done early, and we are still chasing our CDM replacement of Fab 3 seasons later. How can you get a new manager in, and not give him the main core of the players until after season has started? We got all the Dicks doing nothing, we've known since last season we need a CDM, but instead we are trying to sign a LW when we got Gakpo n a very talented boy in Rio, who we are damaging by playing on RW.
It's a mess, n I'm expecting this season to b pretty painful.

There will be fans who want certain players and those who do not. Get over it and stop stamping your feet if it doesn't go the way you wanted.

The interest in Mbaye from supporters is a strange one, Patrik. He's not played much senior football so other than the fact he's at PSG I don't know what makes him so popular with some of our fans.
He may be a great prospect, but how could anyone be confident he's worth the money being asked for? I'd rather a premier proven player to take up Mo's position in the team, massive boots to fill.

We need pace, goals and assists coming from the wings. Barcola gives you all that, why wouldn't fans want him? That's ridiculous.
I'd play Barcola on the left and Munoz on the right, to be honest. Rio has a lot more to learn and is still very young. I don't think he should be starting.
