I really hope not. Minteh played 30 odd matches last reason and scored 4 goals. His assists were about the same. He is currently injured as well. This player will not add anything to the team, unless he is merely a Curtis Jones replacement squad player. We need a Salah replacement ASAP. We also need an Isak replacement because he is Rubbish.

Not sure how trustworthy Plettenburg is considered when it comes to transfers outside of the Bundesliga, but according to his Twitter, Barcola and Minteh are both top priorities, and we might even be looking at one more player.
He hasn't clarified who the third player might be (if there even is a third), but I really hope it's someone who can help us look more defensively sound. We looked wildly open on the counterattack yesterday.

Rax, at the moment we have walked away from both because PSG have inflated the price on Mbaye, so unless something drastically changes, I don't see Mbaye being a Liverpool player.
Barcola is a bit different. A fee was agreed, but the structure of the payments is a problem.
PSG are indicating they won't budge, so we've said we'll move on to new targets, more than likely in the hope PSG lower their demands, but for now we've walked away from both.
I'd imagine (and a personal view) that we end up back in discussion for Barcola, but not Mnaye.

He is lightning quick and crosses a lot, so this will help with Isak massively. Honestly, I think he will help this team out and especially to get us up the pitch quicker with quicker counters like in the Klopp era, especially when we get Barcola as well. Lots and lots of pace. It will be frightening for other teams.

If PSG are playing hardball, walk away from Barcola. Play Wirtz from the left, Szobos at 10, Minteh right wing. Sign a new double pivot. Look at Barcola next summer when he is in his last year of his contract or a new left-wing option if he is not available.

@RossDo, Out of interest, who do you think can replace Salah? One of the greatest players in our history, with outrageous consistency, and who is available? Surely the hope is that, like Mane and Salah before him, that with better players and coaches (we hope) he gets better and better.
Writing players off based on their stats, at 22, isn't always the best to do either. He feels like he's on an upwards trajectory to me.

I don't think it's unfair to expect more from Isak. Yes, he has had injuries, but he has been here for a full season already and had a full pre season under the new manager to learn tactics etc.
There is only so much slack you can afford players. The same goes for Wirtz, both need to show their value and sharpish.

I don't disagree with you, BeKind, and certainly, if in the next few games he also does very little, I will be questioning him.
However, his preseason was disrupted by the WC to a certain extent, and it was the first time playing in front of a very hostile Newcastle crowd.
In my opinion, it buys him a pass for the next few games.

I'm a fan of Barcola, but the fee is just unnecessary when we have so many other concerns!! Despite his injury, I do think Minteh is a good option long term and would get the deal done if possible, as Munoz can cover there, no issue.
Keep Gakpo to cover LW and CF, and push Wirtz left to rotate with Rio. Focus our money on a solid CM/DM and sort out that RB position. Right now Barcola is a luxury that we cannot afford. Hughes has made some massive errors with this squad!

Imagine if we had Suarez or Torres, or someone of that calibre upfront. We wouldn't be giving them a continual list of excuses as to why they do nothing in games. We wouldn't need to, as they were self motivated top players who just performed from the off.

DjimiT, if you spent more time being a bit more humble rather than slagging off people that have given good info in the past, like VG, people might take you more seriously and respect you more. VG didn't just come in and everyone believed him, it took time.

Lfclee, I'm genuinely not bothered.
I came on here and gave info, got abuse for it, so gave it back.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I've said Barcola is not done for weeks and those slating me for saying it keep counter arguing that VG, Carra, TheFields, Ned etc etc all say it's done so it must be, but here we are on 24 August and Barcola is still a PSG player.
You don't need to believe me, just Google who he plays for......

I really like Minteh, always have. And will be more hopeful assuming there is no ligament damage.
With Barcola, it feels like it's 50/50 and we'll just have to see where it all lands.
Literally have run out reasons to think why PSG or ourselves would want to delay an announcement. So that would seem to rule out the idea that the deal is "done".
Just reading the tea leaves, so calm your knees and your thumbs from jumping at a perspective that leans towards the idea that Barcola may not be done / isn't coming lol.
