I just read this and wanted to know if anybody knows if it is true, or not. Because it is right on the edge of inexcusable, stupid commercial practice. It boggles the mind.
That Hughes is officially employed by Al-Hilal since the last few months and is already on their payroll. That he offered Sarr first to Al-Hilal, and after they rejected him, he suggested the player to LFC.
Sincerely hope this is made up stuff, because if it's true, it reeks of professional malpractice of the worst kind, by those above Hughes. Because what he's done for LFC this window, is just bare minimum.

Hughes seems to have been an embarrassing error. It would appear that Ward/Edwards did his job last summer and Gordon/Woodfine did his job this summer.
It begs the question, what did Hughes actually do?

It is a beyond silly rumour. Just not true. If Hughes really is moving on, then there will be a 9-12 month “gardening leave” period in which he cannot work, and then he will not be allowed to sign players we had already targeted.
I get the idea he got a lot wrong, but it is nuts to think he was allowed to work for two clubs at the same time.

Hughes was eased out - targets were drawn up and others took over the negotiations. There was chaos and a fallout over Slot/style of play/Alonso during Edwards' final few months. FSG did what they had to do on the down low.

A senior exec is privy to a lot of sensitive information. The minute they become a flight risk they’re out the door and put on garden leave immediately, generally with some fairly hefty contractual covenants in place too.

Not sure about months. But it's well known he was allowed to work both jobs.
However it's worth noting and again well documented it was Gordon and the new VP that signed Barcola. It's also known that it wasn't Hughes at Chelsea last week to open talks.
It's also well known Hughes has been allowed to work for us remote.

Okay Ed666. If we follow your argument, who do we hold responsible for the low (to no) performance from Isak, Wirtz and Frimpong? Sure, mitigating circumstances. But at the end of the day and at this level of sports, only results matter; everything else is fluff. Hughes has been a clear disaster. Calling him a clown is being too forgiving.

He ain't got the authorisation to sign cheques, of course we had to send someone else to close, especially when so much of the deal was dependant on structure. PSG would have laughed is out the room if it was RH constantly on the phone to see what he was allowed to agree to.

But, I don't think it is out of the ordinary that anyone starts another role whilst still doing their current role.
Yes, it would have to do with how the employers make the arrangement and agree etc.
Ultimately, was that the impact on our summer business? I don't know, but I also really don't think that it was.

Ed666, those signings were made by Pedro Marques as reported by David Lynch. Marques is the senior talent spotter for young and up and coming players, Matt Newberry was involved as the Director of Global Talent and Julian Ward handled the business side of it regarding contracts and fee. Hughes had very little, if any, to do with it
