It's approaching a year since Diogo Jota scored for Liverpool.

Career trajectory of Ox.

I hope Mendes can conjour up a 50m sale for us. Jota has peaked.

Ridiculous post.

Jota’s had a nightmare of a season with regards to goals and injuries.

He’s only managed to play 872 minutes of football which is roughly 9 and a half games of actual football.

Everyone in the squad (especially fan favourites) seem to be getting a pass this season due to the mental and physical exertions of last season. Jota doesn’t seem to be given the same leeway.

I think Jota will get plenty of goals and assists next season and will likely be back up to whoever Klopps main starting 3 whoever they are.

OP, and how many games has he played since the last time he scored for us? Also, he's been injured for the majority part of a year mainly cos he played incessantly for Portugal in the wretched Nations League last summer, a comp. literally NOBODY cares about and prolly never watches. Same as Ox? Take a day off, bro.

I'm no fan of Spaceman but why is it ridiculous to suggest a striker who hasn't scored for a year should be sold? I'd happily sell if we could get £40 million for him.

I thought it was 871 minutes and 43.6 seconds, if I’m being honest.

Either way it still equates to just over 9 full matches without a goal. For the statistically minded you would probably expect a goal or two over that period of time on the pitch from a striker. Perhaps somebody with the inclination could do a little statistical analysis (perhaps a nice little graph and a couple of tables too) of the goals per game ratio for this season?

16 starts 15 sub appearances totaling about 1500 minutes since he last scored.

By comparison, Salah is getting criticism from some quarters despite scoring 23 times this season. Which is frankly mind-boggling.

And it's not like Jota is anything special in his general play to make up for it, either.

Top class banter that WDW. You must be the life and soul of a party ?.

Jota is still pretty decent back up for the 3/ 4 first choice forwards. I’m not suggesting he starts ahead of the others necessarily, but it does baffle me that people want to get rid of about the only area we have any depth in. If he’s not going to complain, he can fill any of the slots in the front 3 adequately enough.

Also, he won the penalty that Mo missed, and set up Mo at the Etihad, so he is still contributing and he’s back from a long injury. I.

I’ll keep it brief. We are short on money. Need a squad rebuild. Have few players with resale value. Jota has had one good season. Poor at linking up play. Not versatile up front. No pace to play wide. Apparently teams or a team has showed interested in him and apparently we could fetch around £40 million. No brainer for me. Sell, and sell as soon as possible!

11.) 06 Apr 2023
06 Apr 2023 20:35:02
I wouldn't actively try to sell him, but if we were offered £40 million plus I would definitely sell. To be honest I'd be willing to sell the majority of this squad given a decent offer, there is only about 7-8 players I would consider untouchable.

12.) 06 Apr 2023
06 Apr 2023 20:56:36
Jota consistently gives the ball away he hasn't scored in something like 31 games anyone defending that needs to look in the mirror lol.

Thunderbird out of interest who’s the 7-8.

Have we paid Wolves yet ?.

Hello The Irish Rover,

Have we paid anyone yet?

16.) 06 Apr 2023
06 Apr 2023 22:39:43
JK, my 7-8 are:
Alisson
Trent - Dreadful this season but young enough to bounce back, look at Rashford
Konate
Robertson
Bajcetic
Gakpo
Nunez
Elliott
Every other player for me I would sell given the right offer. I wouldn't look to sell Salah for example but if someone offered us £70 million I would take it.

17.) 06 Apr 2023
06 Apr 2023 22:39:59
Irish, if I remember correctly, we were to pay over 4 years. So, no I don't think we have finished the payments. But I'm sure the paperwork includes clauses where the liabilities for pending payments are taken on by the purchaser and deducted from the sale price.

18.) 07 Apr 2023
06 Apr 2023 23:24:19
I would struggle to make a case for not selling any of our players for £40m… (except Alisson who has been by far our best player this season)

19.) 07 Apr 2023
06 Apr 2023 23:47:19
And I forgot to mention. Jota signed a new 5 year deal last August (2022). It expires in 2027. So basically LFC will not sell cheap with such a contract in force; the 40 million is a pipe dream. And he's on 180K per week. Nobody is paying that for a player who doesn't score since a year, whatever the circumstances may be.

07 Apr 2023 02:25:21
What was it Dennis Healy said about Geoffrey Howe? Something l@along the lines of “It’s like being savaged by a dead sheep”. Imagine a stato having a go about me being the life and soul of the party ??.

21.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 06:43:40
Diaz as well Thunderbird? I’m guessing you’ve just forgot about him? Has to be a keeper surely?

22.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 07:12:42
Thunderbird cheers for the reply. You can’t really argue with that.

I suppose Salah is probably the surprise one but it has been mentioned that his agent has been putting the feelers out so maybe he is open to a move also. And as Irish mentioned Diaz would def be another for me to keep as well.

I would put a stat up about said players but I don’t to trigger the West Derby Sam Smith as he might be having another bad day down under.

23.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 08:17:22
Irish Rover - well that’s our back up goalie sorted then ?.

24.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 08:35:42
Stat for the day. Margaret Thatcher was the longest serving British Prime Minister of the 29th century. I’ll bet you put up a meaningless stat sometime in the near future zzz.

25.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 08:45:40
Jota on 180k? Surely not.

26.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 09:06:38
I take back what I said. You would be terrible fun at parties ?. Match day going fans don’t know how lucky they are you don’t attend games.

27.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 09:27:32
I really like Jota, we don't have a player who can drive into the box like him. maybe Diaz I guess.

But I think we should be thinking bigger and move him on if we get the chance. I can't see how his previous injury record is going to be any different in the next season and I don't think we should tempt fate with it. I feel like he has more chance of being the next Ox / Keita, which would be a shame for him and us.

28.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 10:28:18
Marty, he signed a contract of 5 years for 46.8 million. Do the math and you get 180k per week. That's what I read.

29.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 11:14:24
What are “match day going fans”? Are they the same as fans who go to the match? Or are they the ‘super fans’ that you seem to fret about.

30.) 07 Apr 2023
07 Apr 2023 14:04:30
Wow, now we're classifying fans separately. Separate "voting" (or opinion) rights come along with that too?

Similar goal to game ratio as dirk kuyt! Who would we rather have in our team right now. jota, kuyt or neither!
Season has really fizzled out now. Sense if resignation about it. Compared to last season!
Let's hope that klopp pulls off some transfer mega strokes and signs a few top quality players whilst clearing out our squad . Big summer awaits.
