I think Barcola has potential and clearly has some talents.
What I keep thinking though is what would he change?
If we popped a prime and fit Barcola into the starting 11 of our first two games what would have been different?
I'don't think he changes very much really because he's essentially addressing issues which aren't causing us problems (pace up front).
What's worse is I actually can't think of many players who are available who would address our issues because I think the issues are tactical and will gradually ease with coaching and familiarity anyway.
My opinion is we don't actually need these signings right now, we need time for unifit player to return and everyone to get used to the system.

There’s a lot of emphasis on midfield, and rightly so. But am I the only one who thinks Virgil has reverted to the Southampton version - he’s just jogging around pointing fingers all game. I know he’s not 25 anymore, but the effort is not there for me.
It’s no wonder Kerkez is lost - he at least gets stuck in and runs his socks off. For me, our problems start with the captain.

TJ, Kerkez is indeed lost, but no co of VVD who has clearly lost a step cos being 35 years old will do that to any player or near any player. VVD has his usses for sure, but not sure those are the reasons why, in isolation, Kerkez is playing poorly.
Kerkez right now is playing poorly and lacks all the tools needed for an FB in an Iraola system.
In fact, he now lacks the tools he himself had when playing under Iraola, so I have no idea why he seems to play with his hair on fire and a complete lack of composure.
That is my conundrum right now, personally.

I think Gakpo wants to leave and you can't really blame him. He got absolute pelters last season. Granted he was rubbish, but he wasn't the only one. No point keeping someone who isn't happy. And we've just agreed a deal for someone who plays in his position.
Giving him that new contract now seems like a good move.

Selling him to City isn't nice, but it makes sense. He's second choice, and Liverpool will be playing him out of position just to get him in the team, and they have Rio, plus he's on 250,00 a week. 85 million for Gapko is a great deal if they can get his replacement in, and maybe a striker on loan.
