Just thought I'd post something to praise the club given by what is being said and posted about contracts.

Whoever was involved in researching coaches/ managers in readiness for Klopp leaving reserves a massive pat on the back and huge thanks from us

Given what has happened at other clubs where a new head coach comes in and things go badly wrong - I don't think we should underestimate his flawless our transition has been.

It would be easy for a Head coach to come in and try to force players to play a different system, it would be easy for a Head coach to come in and throw everything out that has gone before, it would be easy for a new Head Coach to blow smoke up their own backside.

None of this has happened - consequently at the moment we don't look like tumbling down the table.

As fans we are allowed to give those who run the club stick where required, but we should also remember to give them credit when they get it right.

Well done to those who researched and then appointed Arne.

Good post Paisley. LFC management are not without faults and errors but given the amount of brickbats being regularly thrown at them on here, some praise, where it is due, is quite appropriate. The club is not a one man show that runs on it's own; it's a big machine that needs all the parts well coordinated with each other, to run smoothly. It was never all Klopp, so similarly it's not all Slot. And the fact that we have actually progressed over last year, which was not a bad season by any measure, with new upper management and new coach, tells you the machine is being well directed and run.

Liverpool FC are currently putting on a clinic for how to transition smoothly after a long term manager walks away.

Nowhere near enough credit has been given to the club and the people who hired Arne Slot. He's absolutely smashed it out the park so far.

A very good post, that, Paisley.
It looks like Slot has even improved us but he didn't come from nowhere and those involved deserve a lot of credit.
Of course, things will change and I can see us having a bad spell but we should be enjoying our current run and not continually looking for things to be unhappy about.
Things can always get better, too, but overall we are in a great place and it's a shame that the pursuit of perfection means that some don't appreciate it.

Well said Paisley. Arguably Arne is getting more than Jurgen would have done out of the squad at this stage of their development, which is saying something as Jurgen was an amazing motivator. Whilst finances need to be managed cleverly I’d be really disappointed if he isn’t backed to strengthen two positions (LB and CM) this year regardless of sales. Obviously if any players leave we’d need to backfill those too.

Paisley, well said mate!

Well said, I have personally hated the rhetoric lately with all the doom and gloom surrounding the decision making at Liverpool due to the contracts.

I think people forget, these are the same owners that got the best out of Edwards, hired Klopp and sanctioned some of the best transfers in our history with Van Dijk and Allison after the Coutinho sale.

Our executives have gone from strength to strength since taking over and I feel they truly need a lot of praise. Slot is doing extremely well and hopefully with a little bit more investment we can see the best from Slot, with Edwards back at the club I have no doubt that we will see more successful decisions.

Excellent post Paisley.

If Amorin hadn’t have dicked around so much then it could well have been him. He did and we ended up with big Arne. Good fortune is what I’d call it.

{Ed001's Note - we would not have gone for Amorim mate. He was ruled out due to only playing one way and that requiring a big change in personnel.}

03 Jan 2025 15:43:52
I have read that Amorim was never THE target. I've also read that the club felt that Alonso would stay at Leverkusen for another season, at least. Hughes had some links with Alonso's agent and the feeling was he'd stay put. The club moved on and Slot's stats were 'top of the top'. Hughes was also a big fan of Slot's during his time at Bournemouth.

So amorim has one way of playing. Jeez, had no idea. That sounds like it's gona be a disaster at utd, a stick in the mud manager and players who can't be ars*d.

03 Jan 2025 16:33:10
Fully agree. I also think Klopp deserves some credit for setting up this squad and team spirit before he left. Couldn’t have left the team in a better shape.

03 Jan 2025 16:33:22
As we are already seeing madmax. Hilarious mate, they're knackered.

03 Jan 2025 18:20:42
The late great Ed002 cleared up about Amorin. It was felt it was too big a change from klopp tactics and would require very significant investment to get the players required for his system.

Just looking at united and how badly some players are shoe horned in to the team showd this.

The journo Ben Jacobs said in a podcast last season that regardless of whatever anyone thinks of how the club is run, they will continue to run the club the way they have always run it.

They are not saints and have gotten things wrong BUT that is expected cos I will not ask for perfection, a bar that me myself will NEVER reach. Our club is run brilliantly overall and long may it continue.

As for Amorim, I liked him but his way of playing would have needed everything Klopp and the club built to be ripped apart to accommodate whatever he wanted to do. No thanks. We didn't do all that work in order to have some guy come in rip it apart. Again, hats off to the club for binning his candidacy.

Good to know Ed001. I got the impression Amorin was tarting himself out to the highest bidder. Regardless, I think we definitely got the right man ?.
