Do we struggle to attract the very top players? Don’t they want to move to Liverpool? Is it that the pressure would be too much for them?

I am baffled as to why players are not clambering over themselves to join the second most successful club in football history.

Seems very odd we are not considered the pinnacle of a player's football career and are maybe more of a stop gap. Not that it hurts us as players like Mbappe and Bellingham have hardly pulled up any trees in Madrid so far.

Are they still wanting to join City? Obviously nobody wants to join Man Utd or Chelsea to win trophies. Surely we are the biggest attraction for any player.

We're certainly the attraction for some of the nuttiest fans.

Money.

Who are you talking about?

I’m of the opinion that we shouldn’t as we never have be linked with supposed superstars

Torres, not prolific but amazing for us
Suarez, never looked at to do what he do but amazing for us
Coutinho. No where near the player we signed that left us. Amazing player

Yep. We have had Illori, Can, Gonzalez and many more. Probably more than outweighs the good
We have been consistently too 4
In 6 years we have won 2 titles. One under a new manager using a limited squad.

If we had signed Mbappe and Bellingham (as suggested) genuinely were never going to know if they would of done for us what the players we have have done

We’re LFC! You don’t want us. We never want you.

Players do want to come. If you're asking why "marquee" names don't want to its not that they don't. It's that our business model isn't chasing that kind of player by and large. When we do - like Allison and VVD, torres, suarez - they do tend to sign.

London is definitely more desirable for some players, especially foreign ones. We also don't have the wage structure of some teams.

If a player prefers a move elsewhere, I'm happy not to sign them. I think we've proved over the last 10 years that a team full of players who want to play for the club is better than a team of players getting paid more but not really connecting with the club coughmanutdcough.

We do seem to attract players and managers / head coaches who are good enough to win the league. I’m not sure what you really mean by superstars but what ever your idea of a superstar is we seem to be doing ok without them.

Mbappe and Bellingham both went to Madrid though. There are not many bigger clubs in the world than Liverpool but Real is one of, if not the biggest.
It may not have the appeal to some of us but you can't deny the lure of Madrid to the biggest names.
History has shown us it attracts the most sought after players. Luis Figo went there from Barcelona.
If players were choosing Getafe, Toulouse, Sassuolo or Everton before us I could understand your point, NBG.

I mean there’s no need to lie about Bellingham. If we had a midfielder in the same age bracket as Bradley, McConnell and Quansah that scored 25 goals in a season we won the league and champions league we’d rightly never shut up about him.

The best individuals are often not the best for a team. I love the fact that many a player would not join us as a superstar and continue to act as part of a superstar team as opposed to an individual. Long long may it continue……particularly if our success continues.

@Nickel, Apart from the certified world class operator a. k. a Thiago, which "marquee" or "world class" signings have we ever made, exactly?
