"All the very best in the whitist shirt"
22 years in the game you deserve it lad! "

I think there's a fair few on here very unhappy with Trents decision including me. I feel let down by him. He s just less than I thought he was. the free really lowers what I think of him also. But alas. We'll move on and eventually he'll be a macma aman for me.

But football is game of opinions and everybody will feel something different about it.

If Konate doesn’t sign a new contract this summer, then he needs to be sold asap. The club has to be more ruthless and not be so soft when it comes to players. We can’t be held to ransom again.

07 May 2025 19:11:42
We won't have to wait 'til next summer for some more drama, Batman.
If you feel devoid of negativity just make some up in the meantime.
All this being PL Champions does get tiresome, I must admit.

The guys on 70kpw whilst his CB partner is now on 350kpw. He's on half of most of the first 11 so perhaps the club could double his wages in the hope he stays.

Davey I seen a change in trent years ago. There was an arrogance that was not allowed to be mentioned among the fan base. The pr machine was ramped up too around him. Doing various interviews with sky, the BBC about his career and himself. The comment about the ballondor, signing a real Madrid shirt last summer caught by a "random camera man" . Obvious signs.
Trents PR team like many high profile people or footballers have paparazzi called to take certain pictures. It's all about getting what they want and building the brand. I could tell you a story from a very very good source about Muhammad salah and his family on the beach a few years ago. The photo shoot was purposeful PR to aid the Madrid move and help "westernise" his family's image.
The charity stuff for many high profile footballers/ people? Tax breaks and good pr. It's all a play. Most of them aren't interested in the fans. They're only interested like many of these pundits supporting him in filling their pockets.

He’ll get the same reaction from me.
Players who complete their obligations to the club and don’t cause trouble will get the same treatment.

Good luck, thanks for the good times.

Who do we sell Konate to and for how much? Do we just tell clubs when they are buying him and for how much?
They might just wait 'til next summer now and get him on a free. Konate might also being looking to leave on a free. He might just be waiting for a better offer from the club.
I don't know what will happen but I guarantee the club won't go bankrupt if Konate leaves on a free transfer next summer.

Wonder can LFC maybe go to Court regarding this type of Bosman Player Ruling as it only applied to the EU (European Union) we have not been in the EU for circa 10 years now, unless because we play in Europe we have to abide by their football rulings, but wasn't the above Bosman Ruling made under the free movement of Labour within the EU.

It has to be made Fairer to the Clubs as it is now 100% beneficial to the player only, who have paid his wages and now receive no compensation for paying wages, that is not equality for both the parties concerned.

07 May 2025 20:23:59
Interesting point 007.

07 May 2025 20:53:03
Rigsby again telling everyone what the players can n can't do because they've signed a contract and us being the daft employers can't enforce anything. its a wonder you're not the players agent . they'd love you and all your virtual signalling.

07 May 2025 20:53:13
I remember asking ed002 about this as he was clearly the man to ask about transfers and legality.

I think the outcome was most of the EU labour laws were adopted by the UK government and put into Uk law.

Can’t imagine this government doing something about it, except make it worse somehow.

07 May 2025 21:02:59
@007, Compensation for paying wages, soz mate I disagree.

The contract for whatever period = That contract “rents” the life of the player (example), for the determined period, there are restrictions placed on the player, no skiing, motor bike racing, family effected too.

Yes players get excellent rewards, but that is what is prepared to offer them

So end of contract move on, you’re judging with emotion imo.

It was too far in favour of the clubs before, maybe it has gone the other way?

07 May 2025 21:26:40
We still operate under EU law, whether we are part of the EU or not. Our legal structure is tied in and it would cost billions to extract ourselves from it. Not just a few billion, a horrific sum.

07 May 2025 21:55:20
OK.

If that's what he thinks is best.

07 May 2025 23:09:12
Stropsgodset, the daft employers know the score. It's overemotional fans that don't.
You can tell when they talk about worker's rights and virtue signalling ?.

08 May 2025 00:35:17
If clubs are really that worried about players leaving on a free, I am sure they can get their lawyers to write remuneration structures which are geared towards contract retention. Instead of paying a large weekly salary, clubs would offer large loyalty bonuses which are conditional to the player not joining a domestic or European rival within X years of leaving the club on a free.

08 May 2025 00:39:38
Rigsby. obviously they don't know the score if they've let a 26 yr old player who was worth 60/ 70 million run his contract down . nothing over emotional with me . its people like you who think they're virtuous. saying things like he's signed a contract . its the law blah blah . in other words a know it all,

08 May 2025 07:33:15
Stropsgodset, how do you know the club isn't fully prepared to let Konate leave on a free? He's been offered a new contract that mightn't be anywhere near what he wants. It could be the club showing him a half opened door.
'We've had five years out of you, that's what you're worth because you're not that good anyway so take it or leave it'.
He's not being allowed to run down his contract because he's been offered a new one. The club might already being looking to replace him with a steadier, more consistent defender that doesn't want big money yet and is prepared to forsake a transfer fee rather than pay Konate what he wants.
How many clubs would pay £60/ 70m for a good to average centre half approaching the last year of his contract anyway?
And there is a chance that he signs a new deal but that could lessen if he knows the clubs is hawking him around Europe just to get a fee for him.

08 May 2025 09:37:03
Rigsby . why would a club lose out on a transfer fee. you've already said the club know what they're doing. as in Trents case n now konates . when the contracts are coming upto to 2 years left . you negotiate n if that fails, you look to move them on so we get money. you think a club should just allow them to control the situation? We can easily sort it that by being tougher . n who cares if that upsets them . its a business at the end of the day.

08 May 2025 11:04:30
Is the club not being tougher by not caving in to Konate's demands?
I don't know and I don't think you do, Stromsgodset.
Maybe the club wanted to see how Konate performed before of.

08 May 2025 11:07:26
. how he performed before offering Konate a new contract two years from the end of his current one. We had a new manager coming in, as well.
I don't know and that's why I find it strange that people are getting worked when they don't know either.

08 May 2025 15:02:27
Rigsby. we gave keita a new contract to protect his value . how did that end up . we all know how Konate will perform . unless he has a drastic downturn in form . he'll be has he's always been . but that shouldn't matter . its about protecting the club against financial loss . if they won't sign an extension within 2 years of their contract ending then u cash in . n nevermind if he doesn't want to go etc . you make it tough for him to stay. simple really.
