I was surprise other day I receive so much criticism when I said Hugo Ekitike is the man save our next season. I receive criticism because we. won league.
But if u look at how PSG dominate us over 2 legs, we are at least 3 players away from matching them.

Next season we will compete in league with normalise Man City with rodri back. And arsenal will finally get a striker

We will want to at least get to final of Champions league.

Probably gunning for treble. We need reinforcement for aging Salah and ANC commitment, aging slowing VVD.

Agree2 Disagree0

Leek, we lost on pens.

31 May 2025 21:56:34
Leek, what on earth are you talking about?

Are you saying that if we get Ekitike then we win everything, if we don’t we win nothing?

If it’s something else please say so.

There are many reasons for the criticism directed at you, but for the sake of discussion, I will just focus on the following statements:

1. We were dominated over 2 legs. That could be argued because while we were destroyed during the first game even if won. The 2nd leg we played better than them. I feel the mistakes were more tactically and because we didn't finish our chances.

2. We are 3 players away to match PSG. If it were a one off match, I would disagree. I would have agreed with you if you said that is to be able to compete in all fronts, because is no surprise to anyone that we need to strenghten our squad to rotate more (that's why I worry about Diaz leaving) .

3. Next season City and Arsenal would be our closest rivals. I agree with City. Having Rodri back (if he is fit) will be huge to them and they will probably spend big this summer. Regarding Arsenal, somehow I feel that even if they buy a striker, they won't win anything even if their squad should be good enough to win something.

i think he's just giving his opnion that we need to strengthen up front and if we do, we can realistically win everything especially with the other signings we will make this summer. I don't think English is his first language, so I'm guessing here, but that's the way I take it.

PSG did not dominate us at all. They were dominant in the first leg but you have to put that in to context.

It was the first leg and they were at home so the motivation of both teams is different. We are going out there trying to keep it tight and come away with a result so we can beat them at Anfield.

They are going out there all guns blazing because they need a lead to take to Anfield.

Even then, all of their chances were from distance. Yes Ali had a great game but that’s only because shots from distance are easier to save than if they’d ripped us open and had numerous one on one chances.

They were shooting from distance because they were finding it hard to create meaningful chances and needed to score goals. Whilst it was 0-0 we were happy enough.

There was a lot made of it because they had so many shots but none of them were great chances.

It the second leg we should’ve been 3-0 up after 20 minutes but we found ourselves 1-0 down.

If you think that is being dominated then you seriously don’t have a clue.

{Ed025's Note - i must not have a clue then Robbo, for me it was like a premiership team against a Northern prem outfit..

Leek, and others, I’d like to know what you see in Ekitike.
What marks him out as a player who will thrive in this team.
When I watch him, he’s no different to Gakpo. We’ve got one Gakpo, another is not going to move the dial for this team.

Leek, while you make clear and fantastic points, criticism was very much deserved.

A counterargument to your points.

If you consider Kvaradona was bought by PSG mid season. In they end, they either Desire Doue or Desire Dont.

Manchester United without Fernandes. They will want survive relegation next season. Arsenal Saka injury. Foden be Foden.

Referee decisions.

Everton in new stadium will be unfamiliar to all teams. Not just Everton.

Football pyramid.

Channelling your inner Leek there Davey.

Good show, old fruit!

Don't worry Leek. We need all types of characters here to keep this place interesting.

YT makes everyone look great but I don't see anything special in Hugo. Not sure how you are so confident. For some reason, I feel he fails to decieve on YT. that's strange.

Also what about hijacking Ederson from MU news. I don't see much in him either.

You just need to watch a bit more footy Ed, you’ll get it soon.

{Ed025's Note - i will try FF..

31 May 2025 23:40:27
You mean like Liverpool vs Everton then, Ed025? ?.

{Ed025's Note - at the moment yes Zed, but times are a changing mate.. :)

PSG didn't dominate us but they did outclass us, you can't run away from this reality. They rang rings around us in Paris and stifled us at Anfield.

There are no elite forwards or attackers available on the market at the moment except Wirtz, they're all settled down with top teams. Osimhen might be a good shout but how did he end up at Galatasaray on loan. We are probably better off finding a cheap hidden gem somewhere.

I like Ekitike, but my only thing about him is that plays just like Gakpo. Essentially a forward who is more comfortable starting left and cutting inside, but can also play through the middle.

I rather we be getting a striker who can play centrally and do a bit of everything. Can we go back in time and clone prime Bobby!?
