ED001.what do you make of Spurs sacking their manager. I know they have been terrible in the league but had a lot of injuries BUT they have won a major trophy, surely this is what this game is all about at the end of the day. I know finance is crucial but now they're in the champs league, that sorts that out . personally I think they've had a better season overall than Arsenal, villa etc because they've won which is essentially the 3rd biggest trophy you could win. I'm sure their fans wouldn't swap their cup win for any placed finish unless it was 1st.
{Ed001's Note - it was always going to happen, Ange was not the problem though - Levy is. While he is there, they are never going to be a truly big club.}

It is harsh in my opinion.
Yes their league form has been abysmal but with their injury crisis Ange made the decision to put all his eggs in one basket, as did the players, and he succeeded. European trophy and champions league football. I think he deserved another season at least - especially if you are sacking him for Thomas Frank.

ED001 i agree it's Levy. they never really put the resources in to challenge for the top titles . seems like they're happy with things like the new stadium n what's that brings rather than going for glory for titles cups etc . I'd be proper disillusioned as a Spurs fan . big club in theory.

Spurs won a trophy in a competition that Arsenal weren’t even in. Surely to compare they’d have to compare on what they competed in.
It’s like saying Spurs 24/ 25 season was better than our 23/ 24 season as we only won the league cup but finished 3rd.
I’d even go as far as saying the europa league isn’t a major trophy but it’s all opinions Stromsgodset mate.

If they didn’t sack him now, he’d have been gone by Christmas anyway.

Harsh but absolutely the right decision IMO.
17th in the prem and 38 points is an abomination, even with an injury crisis.
Ten Haag won the FA Cup and finished a lot higher last season and everyone was of the opinion he should go.
They stuck by him, gave him 200mil only to sack a few months
Spurs form last season back half was dreadful too.

Sure had no other choice, woeful manager I expect amorim to got by Christmas too.

David moyse at West Ham was treated the same. Sometimes these small clubs don’t appreciate what they have.
If there’s a guy there who wins you trophies (albeit second tier) I think that’s better than making up the numbers and just Existing.
{Ed001's Note - Moyes stayed a year after winning and destroyed the Hammers by signing old, slow players. Not the same at all.}

Ange did the the most un-Spursy thing possible and won a trophy. He had to go just because of that. He never did embody the Spurs way of nearly winning things. There's a reason why Poch is seen as their best manager in recent times. Coming in third in a two horse race for the title was magical. And so was losing the CL final after getting there in the first place. He was Spurs through and through and it was a shame he had to go. If Ange had lost the Euro final, I have an inkling that he would have been rewarded with a new contract and be seen as a true Spurs legend ;)

The UEFA cup JK23 is a big trophy and yes they did better than Arsenal as Arsenal have nothing in their trophy cabinet the do have a league runners up medals. As for the sacking of Ange well managers have been sacked for winning leagues and champions league so nothing shocks me anymore with football. YNWA.

I felt a bit sorry for him but then I remembered our goal fiasco where they ruled out by “mistake” coff coff and ange said along the lines of “ suck it up” ah well ange see ya later. Not in the prem though Karma eh.

No matter what you think of Spurs, they are not a 17th position club. On the edge of relegation?
Clearly head (s) was/ were going to roll. It's a pity the rolling didn't go beyond Ange, because it needed to.

Jk . uefa cup / europa league . is a big cup. I know what your saying about comparing to Arsenal n Villa because it was a different competition but Spurs won it . they lifted a cup n got the parade, fans loved it . to me that all that matters . not finishing 2nd,3rd,4th etc but as you say it all about opinions.

Storms and Iwillbered it’s all opinions gents.
If you think Spurs had a better season than Arsenal then so be it. I don’t believe it and it’s all opinions.
For me league titles and CL are the big ones and then the rest is below.
Europa is now contested by teams that finish outside top 4-5 in their league so for me it’s not a big one.
