I'm going to put forward a controversial viewpoint now!
We need a striker, neither Nunez nor Jota are the right one.
Nunez has suitors but a few people have mentioned that it may be more difficult to move on Jota.
Osimhen may be doable, but Isak may have to wait a season. There are unproven ones, but their clubs are asking for crazy money.
Do we sell on Nunez, keep Jota and bring back Bobby, who is surplus to requirements at Al Ahli?
He's not as good as he once was but he still has the brain and knows us.
Buys us time for relatively little outlay (probably c£20m + c£100k pw or less wages) .
Keeps our powder dry, and have him rotate with Jota and Danns?
Full disclosure - read it in a clickbait site (Anfield Watch) and it got me thinking.
Terrible idea or does it have some legs given our investments elsewhere this window?

I’d love to say yes because I love Bobby, but the truth is he’s no longer at the top level. That said, no need to worry - we’ll bring in Isak this summer.

Good Post Zed.
Would personally be a hard pass for me mate.
3 years ago you Bobby was a bit part player and the fact he's surplus in a retirement league shows where his current levels with age are at.
Saying that though if he's coming in, in a player coach kind or role i think it could be a great idea.
In the one season he's been here Slot has shown that anyone he believes isn't up to the standard will not get game time out of sentiment.

Not Bobby but I would consider keeping buying an unproven youngster at the cheaper end of the market.
Ed mention Lukas Stassin as a potential option and that sounds reasonable to me but I would prefer one of the more proven quality options if possible.
But if we think Isak is gettable next season, I'd consider waiting with Stassin as an Option there.
I'd probably be looking to keep Diaz for sure then and he can battle with Stassin for top CF spot or perhaps Wirtz as false nine.

I agree with both Salah and JK. While Bonny was one of my favourite players to wear the red shirt, he is past it now and wouldn't be able to play at the highest level. He was struggling in his last season with us so I'd expect him to struggle even more now. So no, our rather we invest in someone who can at least play.

Bobby was at the end of his Liverpool career at that right time . so to revisit it 2 years later is a definite no no for me . we need nunez n maybe jota gone . n a top striker in.

Fair enough, I did half think it was too much for him!
Stassin or one of the other younger linked strikers could be an option. Or maybe we can swap Diaz for Lewa!

I think Martinez from Inter is the ideal target and listening to Akira and Carra he's possibly available.
A Consistent goal scorer, leader (Inter Captain), won major trophies and is old enough not to block the progression of Jayden Danns who I think has the potential to succeed him and lead the attack in the future.
This team has the potential to dominate on all fronts these next few seasons while others rebuild so why not add the best in class instead of adding the usual players with just potential which block the top talent from our academy.

Or, Crouchy scored twice against Chelsea in a legends match recently - a return?

Nice one, Zed. An absolutely brilliant player Bobbie was for us. An absolute unicorn/ one off in that false 9 position, IMO. He is now part of our illustrious past and frankly, I'd prefer it to remain that way.

I would prefer if we buy over Son Heung Min for 1 year contract as back up striker. His form dip but hat an anomaly. He will regain form again but with age, he plays less. Deadly finisher.

Just to throw another “for” in the mix, Bobby was struggling in his last year playing the Klopp way, we have seen this year at times we have struggled to break down teams when it gets slow - I know Wirtz once confirmed will help massively with that but the way LFC play now at times is a lot slower so would Bobby not be able to show off what he can do ? just a thought
My opinion is that he shouldn’t come back, I loved Bobby and still find myself signing his song on occasion. I would hate for his reputation to take a hit by coming back and it not going how we all want it to go - I’ve seen it to often with my RL team bringing back playing legends and making them managers for them to fail and dent that legacy.

@Davey Sulls
I get what you’re saying with going out and getting someone younger who wants to prove themselves.
However, if they are the centre forward for Liverpool alongside Jota or even as the only recognised centre forward, that is a lot of pressure.
Whether they cost £10m or £50m, someone needs to put the ball in the back of the net for us next season and do what Nunez and Jota haven’t been able to do consistently.
I’d hate us to bring someone younger in with potential and the “fans” to be on his back by Christmas because he’s not performing.

Was expecting Ed025 to come charging into this thread as he was such a Bobby fan ???.
{Ed025's Note - Bobby was a figment of your imaginations im afraid Mcgoveb, a one trick pony and as a false 9 about as false as you can get mate, a little flick here and a back heel there had you all drooling, truth be known he was bang average and not involved for 70% of matches mate, nice guy though and great teeth..but thats it im afraid for me..
