Is anyone at all concerned, that with all these players potentially leaving and the new ones yet to come.
We are changing too much in one window?
These players will all need time to near each other's play styles and to learn slots systems.
Exciting to see the team evolving tho for sure.

Im not a fan of huge upheaval either but this feels more of a natural evolution. let's enjoy this window.

{Ed025's Note - im still waiting for Darwins Evolution Funky.. :)

No because we’re not changing the spine of the team.

Alisson, Virgil, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and Salah is our spine. None of them are going anywhere. Those 5 players start every game when they’re fit and they are all 100% guaranteed to be retained for next season. Odds are Gakpo, Konate and Diaz will also stay.

Robbo and Trent are the only starters we’re likely to lose. Diaz looked like he might go but then Barcelona signed Williams and they are the only club I think he would push hard to move to. He’s not going to go Saudi this summer in my opinion. He’s only 28 and that offer will still be on the table for him in 2 years with a big signing on bonus if he runs down his contract.

All we’re really doing is changing our starting full backs and then adding higher quality to the existing starting XI.

Not really. Most of the players going aren't regular starters. Strengthen the first eleven, and then we should just use the youngsters if needed.

20 Jun 2025 09:04:59
No not at all. Upgrading the team where possible is absolutely necessary.

20 Jun 2025 09:07:15
Perhaps and time will tell whether the ‘new’ crop of players will be cohesive but I’m liking that slot and the team are being ruthless. It was only negative about Klopp.

Plus slot did this after his first year at feyernord and won the league the following year! Fingers crossed it’s a good omen.

20 Jun 2025 09:16:30
Yeah, what Adam said. It does feel a little like the first season in FIFA or Championship Manager, but the spine is still there and/ or being improved - Wirtz, Kerkez, possibly Frimpong (let's wait and see) and the striker, whoever he may be (ISAK! ) are all improving what we had before.

Getting the striker in before pre-season will be key so we have the entire first 11 (plus many others) available to work together for a few weeks before the season starts.

20 Jun 2025 09:18:21
Only if the players coming in weren't upgrades and they all certainly are, Slot has form for changing big after his first season an I trust him 100%.

20 Jun 2025 09:43:02
I don't think so. The guys that are gone are the ones that many of us were already say should go like both FB's and Kellerher. All 3 have been replaced with starting material so we got stronger there, IMO.

Gomez will stat and so will Tsimikas and Endo. The spine as MKS alluded to (including Diaz and Gakpo) will be here as well.

And to crown it all, we got even stronger with "Flo" pitching up at Anfield and getting a forward will only add to that level of strength. We're good, IMO.

20 Jun 2025 10:29:21
Remember the old days when Liverpool won the league then the following season they would add couple of new faces to freshen up the squad. This is another level. WOW.

20 Jun 2025 10:37:36
Snoots . usually I'd agree. but all the players leaving were all coming to the end of the Liverpool careers one way or another . we've replaced them with younger excellent players. hopefully one or 2 more through the door n think we'll be OK for the next few years.

20 Jun 2025 12:05:38
OP, what’s that old saying ‘be careful what you wish for’ eh? IMHO, as has been said, the core of the team - with the probable exception of Robbo and his leadership role in the group - are staying together and the squad, in general will be a fair bit stronger.

20 Jun 2025 12:06:39
Very much depends on the character of the players coming in and which players remain in the squad. On top of that new players having game intelligence and speaking a language where messages can be easily relaid is a big plus.

We have have strong characters remaining in the squad which will allow the new players coming in to adapt more easily as the good squad harmony should remain. Everyone we are signing or interested in seems to be a hard worker so that's a big plus.

Is it a risk. It would foolish to say a complete no to that because major change usually takes time. Having all new players in for a full pre season would help.

The squad needed an overhaul and I like the gamble personally. Slot gets to have a proper go with a squad that can last the next 5 years without much change needed.

Replacing salah and the captain becomes the next hurdle. But if we overhaul now we have two years to focus on that plan.

Nothing is ever certain. No signing is ever guaranteed to work but what we are planning to do this window feels right with the signings we are going for and also feels like it's being done at the right time.

Slot has momentum and currency in the bank. Even if it takes the squad time to settle it feels like he's building something that could be a force going forward if all comes to pass. (Isak! )

Exciting times really. Never expected this type of spending and there was always a dark cloud ahead a few years ago on how the next version of the squad would look. Klopp did tend to hang on to players a little too long. But that may have been because the money wasn't there to replace with equal experience and quality.

This window was definitely not one I would have predicted.

Didnt mean to stand you up Ed025. Same time tomorrow night?

{Ed025's Note - yes mate, dont let it happen again.. :)

20 Jun 2025 12:32:37
Yeah I do think it is a risk. Especially if a senior leader like Robbo is also going.

Seems a few comments about it being ok to let fringe players go but these fringe players are champions and have been grinding week in week out for years now in a team that has been competing at the top end.

There is no guarantee that the guys we bring in to pad the squad are going to bring that mentality to all the things we don’t see away from the screens.
