Maybe we were a bit hasty with Joao Pedro.

Pedro was good in flashes with Brighton as well but he went missing more often than not. He had a good start with Chelsea but he'd need to perform at that level consistently before we judge him positively.

2 goals against Fluminense doesn't make him world lass all of a sudden.

Gotta judge him on his EPL form and personal shenanigans.

Nah we're good Vango.

It's not like he's a crap player, he is in fact a very good player, but he's an orchestrator, a creator and a facilitator and not a goalscorer. He offers no box threat, doesn't run in behind, is not an aerial threat despite being tall, but if you want someone to progress the ball, carry from deep and generate chances near the opposition area (even if he doesn't tend to create the actual assist), he is excellent.

More than pedro id be a little vary of chelsea at the moment. They are finally playing some good football and I think players have now bought into maresca style. I think they will be very good next season.
I think city will have another extraordinary blowout next season.

I remember thinking that about Martial when he scored against us
:/.

Chelsea for me still need an upgrade for Sanchez, all in all it should be a very competitive league this season.

09 Jul 2025 08:21:34
Don't be worrying about Pedro. Darwin scored 2 against City in the charity shield.

09 Jul 2025 08:39:50
Need an upgrade of their whole backline.

Is Darwin suddenly a donkey now? Why do so many people feel the need to throw a jab at him in threads that have nothing to do with him? Am I the only one who thinks he is a good player, just not for us?

09 Jul 2025 10:57:42
Patrik, Darwin could still be a good player for us if the manager puts his faith in him but it looks like Slot doesn’t fancy him.

I see so many people saying that Elliott needs a run of games and he could come good. Personally I’d be far more confident of Nunez coming good with a run of games than Elliott.

Nunez has all of the physical attributes to be an absolute monster. Elliott is too weak physically and has no pace.

Darwin hasn’t been the player we expected but most of it is psychological. If he feels valued and is played consistently regardless of his misses he might actually start to calm down a bit.

I’m ok with us replacing him if that’s what Slot wants to do but he does seem to be judged more harshly than any other player in the squad.

The difference between Elliott and Darwin is attitude and a little something between the ears. You can be as skillful and athletic as you want but without the other two then it’s pointless.

"Darwin hasn’t been the player we expected but most of it is psychological. If he feels valued and is played consistently regardless of his misses he might actually start to calm down a bit. "

Fully agree, @Robboslostlegs. I think he'll bang in a team where he (and ONLY him) is the focal point of the attack as that is the way it was at Benfica and with Uruguguay. And of course, IF he sorts his head out psychologically. And ability wise, he is by NO means a donkey, IMO.

As for Elliott, I just think he does not fit the way Slot wants to play with his skill set. I do not think he has attitude issues and I actually think that he is a very good player who was brilliant under Klopp. It's just a thing of one manager fancying you and another well, who doesn't. Just my take.
