In my opinion, I think we'll sign Rodrygo or Gordon to replace Diaz.
I don't think Nunez will go to Saudi, and I don't think anybody in Europe will pay over what we rejected from Napoli (circa £50-60m) . Therefore I'm not sure Isak will happen because Nunez is looking likely to stay.
I'm not ITK, I'm just not sure it tallies up to spend £69-79m on Ekitike as well as £100-116m on Wirtz; only to go and sign Isak for £120-150m resigning one of them to the bench.
I took a step back to think about this and Slot has allegedly convinced Ekitike and Wirtz to sign with his tactical plan and the promise of building around them. Therefore I very much expect them to be front and centre in our team next season.
Rodrygo or Gordon would come in to play LW and that seems far more likely to me if Diaz departs and Nunez stays, as I believe will happen.

Eventhough I'd love Isak but I'm totally fine with what you've suggested.
There's just something going on I feel with Isak (gut feeling. although it could be the jalepeno humus I had at lunch)

Nunez is already replaced by Ekitike. He has to go now. I don’t know where. The rest I agree, Gordon / Fofana / Rodrygo to replace Diaz. Isak was off the moment we went in for Ekitike.

I do think Nunez may end up going to Saudi, Adam, but later in the window. And with Gakpo being our first choice LW, I was just thinking that Rodrygo would want to be a starter, especially as rotation/ gametime has been an issue for him at RM. For this reason I can't see him going to PSG either, who have an absolutely electric attack.
The more I think about it, Fofana makes sense. I know I convinced myself we wouldn't get him as he could block Rio, but they are still 4 years apart in age, and Rio appears to be realistic in terms of gametime as evidenced in a recently reported interview with him where he is loving being involved with the first team and especially admiring of Salah.
I think Isak will depend on Nunez going, but I am more optimistic about it than you, just because Newcastle won't want another unsettled player for 25-26 as they had with Gordon in 24-25.
However, with the news that Konate is hopefully close to signing a 5 year deal, I would be equally happy if the window closed now!

There's too much smoke around isak to convince me that we aren't pushing to make something happen. The club have never come out to say otherwise, so unless we have clarity on the situation I remain in hope that it will happen. Surely we would much rather spend money on isak than rodrygo or Gordon.

Wirtz wouldn’t be on the bench. He will play in a 10 regardless of whether Isak or Ekitike starting in a 9.

It feels like we have done way too much groundwork on this Isak deal to pull out now. By all accounts, it seems we really want him - now or in the next windows.

The phrase that sticks in my mind is “throwing the kitchen” to get Isak, sink and all. He’s arguably one of the world’s top ten players. It would be mad not to push on now. Ekitike can cover him and Gakpo - his buildup play may suit the left-wing role.

It feels like no one’s shutting it down, Newcastle certainly aren’t. his agent seems to be saying there looking at different options, we’ve not said it’s off. it just feels like this is the finishing touch to the new squad or maybe I’m just hoping it gets done. We’ve seen how slot likes to change formation mid game. who’s to say both don’t play in the same game as people seem to think one will always be benched. Time will tell but hoping it happens!
Reckon Diaz goes and we bring in fofana who’s younger and a savvy move IMO with future resale value and a potentially high ceiling. I just don't see Rio getting many if any first team prem games but reckon he will play cup games this year as third choice LW behind gakpo and Fofana.
Or MK could be right and we don’t get isak and we end up with Claire balding as a softener.

Ekitike hasn't replaced Nunez he's replaced Jota. Numbers wise we now have the same amount as last season. Assuming Chiesa is off selling Nunez without a replacement would leave us short.

I know nothing - just organising my thoughts in a post.
TAA - Frimpong
Ekitike - Jota
Kerkez -? someone needs to go (hopefully Tsimi but he wants to stay)
Wirtz - luxury addition
all above done, yes.
all below, who knows.
Nunez - Isak
Diaz - Rodrygo / Gordon / Fofana
Konate (hope he stays) - Guehi
Quansah - who? zeze? ait boudal?
surplus to requiements?
Elliot
Chiesa.

We are not interested in Rodrygo, I'm surprised James Pearce ain't come out and pured water on it. He is the one that told me it ain't happening ?.

Stay away from Gordon. Massive Downgrade on Diaz, frees up ffp for Newcastle to keep Isak.
It’s just an all round Terrible move for another overpriced Englishman.
23 Jul 2025 18:20:28
Numbers wise we didn’t have a goal scoring CAM last season. I Just cannot see £70 mill player replacing Jota. My understanding, Wirtz to replace the Jota numbers (doesn’t matter where he plays) Ekitike replaces Nunez and Fofana / Gordon replaces Diaz.
If Chiesa goes then a kid form the academy gets his place.
23 Jul 2025 18:21:51
I’m happy if Nunez stays to be honest maybe 1 more season if Isak doesn’t sign a new contract Newcastle may be forced to sell. If Diaz goes I’d actually rather have Eze than Gordon or Rodrigo.

We won't be signing rodrygo guys. He is on somewhere around 275k euro a week. He will be very expensive and also surplus in squad. Not to mention he rejected us when we tried to get him when madrid did. I know the story keeps going around but there is absolutely no contact from LFC for him.
We were not looking to replace diaz and the only winger we have really looked out and keeping tabs on is ben seghir however as i explained its not for this window.
