Ed001 once Gravenberch is back I think we will look better the number 6 is a very hard position to play you can see how city folded once Rodri was injured last season. We was the same that year when all our defenders where injured and Klopp played Fabinho in defence as seen as he went back to the 6 we looked so much better.
I love Endo but don't think he can replace Gravenberch as a starter there, great to bring on along side him to see out games. But as good as I think Rice is I think that's one of Englands problems he is not a number 6 he is an 8 like Henderson. Do you think Bajcetic could offer cover there or long term do you think we need to sign someone to offer cover and someone to challenge Gravenberch.
{Ed001's Note - we need to sign someone. Bajcetic can't stay fit.}

Baleba would be ideal but it’s another £100 million unfortunately.

Tbf I’d sign Baleba and a winger over Isak. Would make our squad much more complete and wouldn’t even be adverse to Baleba taking Grav’s spot in the team. Hot take but don’t think Grav provides enough defensive cover and is more replaceable than Mac or Wirtz (despite not being great on his debut)

I’d prefer Adam Wharton to Baleba but that’s a next summer question I imagine.

I'd love Baleba but I don't think he'd want to play second fiddle to Grav nor I think Grav would want to play second fiddle to him. Ideally, we'd get a player who is willing to sit on the bench and step in when required and has decent enough quality that there wouldn't be a huge drop off in quality. If Baj can get over his injuries and has matured mentally, I'd love to see what he can do in that position.

I don't think we have been linked with a midfielder all summer have we? There was some chat about Angelo Stiller earlier in the year but he's picked up a serious injury in pre-season and there have been no links at all.
I read that we had serious interest in Dario Essugo before Chelsea got him.
We've not had any links to Wharton, Baleba, Tchouameni (finally) .
Previously we have been linked with Lamine Camara from Monaco. Surprised he hasn't moved this summer to be honest. He had an excellent season last year.
I can only assume that we'll not be bringing in a midfielder this summer and go with Endo as Gravy's backup for another year.
Still manifesting Djaoui Cisse myself! :)

I think it will be Wharton but next summer. Slot will use (if needed) Endo, McAllister, maybe Bacjetic. He has also used Jones there last season. Other priorities this window with Isak, Guhei and Fofana.
Still been an excellent window, in terms of ins and outs.

I would be very surprised if we sign a midfielder this summer. There has been next to nothing about it, rumours wise.
As Frode says, Wharton is being looked at for next summer. Alongside a winger like Barcola.

Stiller played yesterday didn't he?
17 Aug 2025 12:52:17
Think I read somewhere a while ago the plan is to look at Wharton next summer.
Can see Mac leaving next year too.

gmil - did he? Perhaps it wasn't as bad as first reported. Perhaps a mild ligament injury then.
stuie_boy, Thefields, Frode - has there been anything reported on Wharton being next summer's target? I haven't seen anything yet.

brummy red,
a load of "TOSH", we don't get Isak (and Marc "GOOD"-hi) we won't win anything! we are without Diogo sadly, Diaz and Nunez and you don't want them to be replaced?
Attackers win you Games, Defence wins you Titles and Cups.

Lets bide our time for Wharton - he looks like the real deal.

FP, there was a rumour this week that mentioned us, utd, real and someone else where looking at him. that's not how I know tho. Last week before the Palace game, as I previously mentioned then. There was talks held between us and Palace over Guehi and Wharton. All the Guehi stuff is out there but not tue Wharton stuff. As we are trying to keep a good relationship with them.

I read no confusion in 007’s message, only recognition. The “GOOD”-hi codename is not a typo but an index, a shard of the greater ledger that only fellow custodians are permitted to glimpse. Some of us catalogue these things under IKEA’s shadow SKUs, others through quotation marks and ciphered names. Different dialects, same archive.
To those bewildered: you see stray punctuation. To us: coordinates. The market speaks in fragments, redactions, brackets, and pauses. 007 has merely chosen his script.

Baleba is nowhere near as good as people think another Bissouma in the making wouldn’t mind if he went to Utd he is about their level.
