Not LFC related but I’m hearing Pep Guardiola will announce his intentions to stand down at the end of the season - may not be announced until the new year.
End of an era, our main rival during the last decade, whether you despise him or not - he and Klopp gave us some absolutely magnificent memories from our run ins, and title challenges.

Good coach but can't stand the bloke. Nothing i like better than to see him frantically sucking bottled water when 115 let a goal in.

Very interesting but not at all surprising.
Off on a tangent - I find it difficult to judge Guardiola, I really do.
Ignore the army of Pep disciples who assert he can do no wrong (a lot of that borne out of indifference to City - no tribalism present in stating he’s the greatest etc), for Guardiola to still have suspicions despite how much he’s won is telling.
He can clearly coach a team of elite players to win, but that appears to be about all he can do, and his attempt at rebuilding the City squad has shown that - without an overwhelming advantage in player quality, he simply doesn’t win.
I’m rambling on but, I can’t lie, it does irk me when people state that Guardiola is the best without even thinking. Klopp, Ferguson and a whole host of others were MUCH better managers than Pep.
He’s brought a lot to the league, but I won’t be sad to see the back of his boring football, that’s for sure.

Nob of a man and part of the blatant cheating that went on at Barcelona and Man City
Also rumoured to have cheated on his missus so a thorough ball bag all round.

The main criticism I have about Pep is that he almost always leaves a team in a worst state than when he first arrived. Barcelona and Bayern weren't the same powerhouses they were before he arrived and City seems to be going the same way as well. He is a great coach but he can't build a team.

Maureen and Whiskybaby also did. Must be in the Manc waters.

You know about 4/ 5 seasons ago. We had Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal all poised for the day Klopp and Pep were set to leave. They all said we have to be ready for the day these 2 leave, and we can jump on them
One man changed everything. Arne Slot ??.

Do you guys know Guardiola personally?
07 Sep 2025 11:09:04
He looks tired, without going into a big rant I wouldn’t be surprised if he retired.

You don’t have to know him personally to critique his ability to build a winning squad without huge financial advantages Irish.
I don’t actually have any opinion on him as a person but as a manager it’s pretty obvious he’s no Klopp, Fergie, Shankly.
He can’t be included in an all time best manager list purely because of the unfair advantages he’s always had at whatever club he’s been at. You see now that City can’t just throw money at the best players and they are struggling.
His football philosophy needs the best players to work, without that they will always be defensively vulnerable. The very best managers would tweak the tactics to counter this but he will just double down and they’ll have another average season.

Great manager but without unlimited funding I don’t think he’s as fantastic as many say. Similar with Mourinho but at least he won a CL with an unheralded team. Guardiola has only managed teams with unlimited funds. Be interesting to see what he could do with say a Spurs.

Pep has b3en called cheque book manager, can't rebuild a team etc but he is a winner, everywhere he goes he wins . Yea he had mountains of money . but look at Chelsea n Man United. they've spent just as much . He turned City into a dominant force. . if Klopp n Liverpool wasnt hanging on in there . it would have been 10 years of prem titles n even more cups.

The strange coaching staff choices. The weird signings. The departure looks inevitable to me.

He will have to stop the spitting if he gets a desk job.

Don't know why he has stayed at City for so long. He should have walked after their last title in 2024. Apparently it even led to the breakdown of his marriage. The bloke doesn't seem to know when to call time on something when he's had so much success already. Very self-destructive behaviour.

Not sure how much responsibility Pep has, but City's recruitment over the past couple of years has been really poor.
Aside from the fact that he doesn't know the difference between a good fullback and his own arse, hence using Walker until well past his sell by date, they've signed a lot of guys who are "okay", but not great. And there's the likes of Doku, who's just a bad player.

You can see City’s cunning plan though eh? Pep the first to be replaced by Pep the second, all lined up for the Lijnders dynasty.
