Reading all these posts from the Ed's and the ITK's I'm getting the impression Slot has lost the dressing room to some extent. Maybe not a full on uprising, but it does sound like there are question marks from the players about him and his tactics/ selections.
Do I want Slot sacked? No, I want him to succeed. It feels wrong that a manager who finally knocked United off their perch should be sacked 6 months later.
However, his position may become untenable. We've lost 4 league games in a row and 5 from our last 6 in all competitions. That is just not acceptable when you've spent this much money and the board will rightly be demanding answers.
Personally I think tomorrow night is far from a free hit. The Carabao Cup may end up being our only realistic source of silverware with the way things are going. If we do not win 6 of our next 8 games, Slot could be gone in my opinion.
Of our last 6 games only 1 of them was at home and that was vs Man United which is a game where anything can happen. We beat them 4-1 at Old Trafford at the absolute peak of their powers. However 6 of our next 8 games are at Anfield, and none of the home games are derbies or intense rivalries.
With that in mind, all 6 of the home games have to be wins, including Real Madrid. If we drop points away to Man City that is no issue at all, but if Slot loses the home crowd, it could and should be curtains. He only other away game in our next 8 is West Ham as well. This is a good opportunity to put a run together now with the 12th man behind the team. Don't let it go to waste.

Well said MK. I think most of us want Slot to succeed, given what he has already achieved. But yeah, he can't keep on repeating the same things again and again, which are clearly not working.
Last season, his greatest quality was adjusting stuff on the fly, which made me think that we had the best tactical manager in the world. But this season, it all seems to have gone **** up.

Great post MK I hope you're right but it's been a long time since the Anfield crowd were anything like the 12th man. Maybe that's due to the slow ponderous style of play, or maybe that's just the way of football now.
28 Oct 2025 10:32:33
will it be a 12th man or an anchor tho.

No one can understand the fall from grace we are now in . the players seem shell shocked . is that down to desire, mis-management or a combo of both . what shouldn't happen is players not giving their all even if they've lost faith in the management. bfr the season started we knew we'd have a few teething problems but no one expected this .
but hope you've right about winning our home games, we have a chance to put things right n if we do go on a winning run we could rescue this season . we all need to be on the same page.

MK i feel we no longer have the luxury of talking about winning the next 6 matches out of 8 given that there is a real chance of losing the next game, and the subsequent ones. So for now, any trophy is out of question unless we see improvement.
Slot has to change his tactics and remove the players not performing from the starting 11. If these basic changes do not go through, I'm afraid we are done for the season and top 6 would be a realistic target. I wonder how much time Slot will be afforded, given that the transfer team screwed up with not being able to secure a replacement for Konate.

MKS, I see your points and indeed, Carra (the poster) has said that during the int'l break in Nov;? there will be a progress report/ meeting btw all those concerned to evaluate the season so far so let's see about that.
As for the upcoming games, I really cannot tell you what will/ can happen even tho, I share your optimism. Wy? Cos i have no idea what we are going to do, how we're going to line up, tactics, selection, you get the point. Sometimes, it seems are guys are shocked that a game is going on and need to either get punched in the mouth (football wise) or concede a goal and wake up and still things don't better.
Going on a run? Mate, we can't even defend a long throw and the way we are setup with no sense of urgency, no fight (Robbo's words, not mine) and with subs that make us weaker. I would love us to do all these great things. I will have to see us have a pulse in galmes first to believe it. Cheers, mate.

Not sure we knocked Man U off their perch, they did that to themselves. The same thing, i fear, we are repeating ourselves. This is why i don't take any joy when our rivals falter and are playing absolutely pants, because more often that not, it comes back to bite us in the arse. Jus like now.
For me the writing was on the wall when we lost to Plymouth. We 100% should of won that no question, but the things which are affecting us now, were evident to see back then.
I think a managerial and coaching change is the answer, unless we start a winning run immediately. If we're outside the top 4 by Xmas, serious decisions need to be made.
28 Oct 2025 11:36:32
Shayan, when you say Slot needs to remove those who are not performing, we will only be left with about 2. Bringing in the likes of Endo and Gomez, to name 2, won't improve us in the slightest.
28 Oct 2025 11:42:36
I would tend to concur with what you’ve said MK. I’d rather Slot sort things out, I like him as a manager, he’s won a title, so he’s no mug, but it is entirely up to him to get us out of this mess, the worst of it is that not once in those league defeats is there anything to suggest we’re learning or improving.
Although I can see where you’re coming from about the city game, if we suffer a huge defeat and city wipe the floor with us and our we continue to play as poorly as we have been then unfortunately there is only one answer.
28 Oct 2025 11:44:44
The writing was on the wall after Plymouth?! We went on to win the league for gawd sake! Some of the stuff that's being posted is getting ridiculous.
28 Oct 2025 12:29:13
To Rome1977:
Yes we went on to win the league BUT the results in more than several games were showing just how frail and disjointed we are. A bunch of games which won us the title, we got lucky, and it could quite have gone the other way. You know that, and so do most on here that actually watch us play. Yes, we got the results, but not very convincingly in may cases. The cracks were there then, and are more evident now. You call my post ridiculous, i call it reality.
28 Oct 2025 12:44:55
OliRed, you might need to read Robertson's quote again.
All the calls for playing in form players like Chiesa and he comes on against Brentford but the subs make us weaker?
You're right, Rome!
28 Oct 2025 12:58:27
Incredible Bulk, we lost against Plymouth because Slot rested our main players and picked a bench full of mainly kids, if I recall. I was on here moaning about him forfeiting the competition, like I had used to when Klopp did the same.
I assume you go to games, Bulk, as do I. We both have differing views, which is what football and life is all about.
28 Oct 2025 13:03:39
Bulk, Im with Rome here (not saying your post is ridiculous, btw) . I don't think any of these stats of games from the last season matters now. Bringing them up to me, is just a case of "correlation without causation", IMO. Why? Cos the dynamics of last season and our path is way diff. than this season. And going back to a game Slot did not care about winning or losing is just wild.
Last season, we were playing a diff. way from this season so that's your first mistake. Also, Slot admitted that we ran outta gas around Feb/ March cos he did not rotate as much as he would have liked. Remember how Endo and Chiesa and Elliott not getting a sniff? Slot said he regretted not playing them more when we ran out of gas. And since we won the title cos we dominated with 1 loss in 30 games so who really cares what happened afterwards? I didn't care and I loved the Victory Tour after we won it so making those games more important than they actually were in hindsight esp., is a bit off.
Now going into this season, Slot has decided to rotate a bit more in order to save energy and avoid injuries essentially, trying to fix what he thought hurt us towards the end of last season. It's not working due to Slot's choices and to me, the bad advice he is taking in from GwB who again, wasn't even here last season. To me, last season is not related to this season cos the team was built fiff., played, diff. with near NO new signings in it. Hence, correlation w/ o causation, IMO.
28 Oct 2025 13:50:09
I remember Endo, Elliott and Chiesa getting a sniff against Plymouth and PSV.
Perhaps if we'd used them more we wouldn't have won the League and wouldn't be having such a fall from grace this season.
28 Oct 2025 13:55:40
Well, I'm going to go study the plymouth game in detail to see how it was a worrying premonition of the future now lmao
I mean, despite the fact that it was a starting eleven that had never played together before and was almost entirely composed of kids and substitutes.
28 Oct 2025 16:34:00
There were seven internationals in the starting eleven against Plymouth.
28 Oct 2025 16:42:16
The point i am trying to make with the Plymouth match, is that regardless of who was on the team sheet, we should of won. The quality in the squad was there to be used and was capable of doing the job. Many of the problems of that match, we see us doing over and over again in matches today. The only thing that is the same between now and then is the manager.
The buck stops with him and him alone. It amazes me that people can say we need to change tactics today because of our form, yet similar tactics were employed during the Plymouth match, and all the other less than convincing results we got. Slot needs to sort it out quick or be replaced. And i like the guy. But the team comes first.
28 Oct 2025 17:41:11
Rome1977!, my qualm arises the moment Slot sticks with Salah and Gakpo when we have decent options, the likes of Ekitike and Chiesa. Choosing to play the same team and expecting different results isn't good management, specially when you've got players in hot form like Chiesa and Ekitike. We stopped shy of signing a winger to give chance to Rio, so let's do that too.
Idea should be to embed these players in the same team, same back 4 and midfield so there is at least a bit of consistency. Changing the entire starting 11, as we do in cups at times, and then expecting them to perform, is not fair to these players either.
A lot of the folks are frustrated, and rightly so, because Slot was making the right tactical changes last year, so it is not that he doesn't know how to handle a squad with varying skills. Yet something is wrong this season, and it is Slot who'll need to fix this.
28 Oct 2025 20:09:15
Rigsby, the subs made us weaker cos he put on Chiesa only to play him in CM. then he took off Wirtz for Gomez, who went to RB and then moved Szobo (who he moved to RB after Bradley went off) back to midfield.
If you don't think any of that madness made us weaker then, there is not much I can do for you.
As for Robbo, I did not quote him word for word BUT that was his message. Also, didn't need him to tell me we had no fight in that game. We could all see it. What did you see?
28 Oct 2025 20:13:38
"There were seven internationals in the starting eleven against Plymouth. ".
Also, that's an empty stat without context and a stat w/ o context is irrelevant. You could start an 11 worth of internationals with even internationals on the bench and in the stands, if they have no rhythm, inadequate game time in their legs they will always struggle and play a disjointed game, exactly what happened vs Plymouth and PSV. Those are the facts.
29 Oct 2025 00:46:21
OliRed, I saw Szoboszlai go into midfield and assist Salah for his goal. What did you see?
I saw Chiesa replace Gakpo. Did you see Gakpo in CM?
I also stated a fact about the seven internationals. If you think facts are irrelevant then there's not much I can do for you, my guy.
I gave the fact as a reply to PB's post about the team against Plymouth being almost entirely kids and substitutes. You might want to recognise the context in which I used the fact before passing your predictions and nonsense off as facts.
And internationals sitting in the stands have very little or no bearing on a game so that dog doesn't hunt for me, man.
