I know it was only the 'Mickey Mouse' cup, but there was absolutely no sense in what Slot did tonight.
I don't even know why he tried to justify it. He must know that he is alienating all us supporters with his constant crazy decisions, but just keeps on doing it.
When Klopp rotated the team in this competition there was still a decent chance that we could still win, but not with Slot. To send a team out like that with a bench like that, was just capitulating before a ball was kicked, and there is no excuse for it - none!
That's 6 defeats in 7 games, and as I've said on here a few days ago, is absolute relegation form.
I keep telling myself that it will all come good when the new additions settle in, and have integrated all will be good, but it just doesn't feel that way at all now.
Confidence seems to be shot and this will not be easy to change.
Bloody hell, we are the current Champions, and are playing like chumpions.
I thought we would lose tonight though, but didn't expect Slot to pick a team that would guarantee it.
I don't know where we go from here. Does anyone else?

It's inexcusable to go out of the cup that way. I'd be okay if we had put out a weakened team and lost that way. But what Slot did was very extreme and definitely not in line with the values that we have cultivated over the past 10 years or so.
This is giving the same vibe as Rodgers did when he threw they game against Real Madrid all this eyeara ago. I'm sorry to say it but Slot has been very disappointing this season and I wouldn't be sorry if he were to leave.

I honestly thought he’d go quite strong tonight to try and get a performance and a bit of confidence going through the team. It almost felt like he couldn’t give a toss!
There’s zero chance of silverware this season which in a “transition” season wouldn’t be a major issue but the risk of not getting CL next season as a huge possibility with the team playing like they are!
Needs a change now IMO before it’s too late.

There's giving guys a chance and there's throwing a game. The bench killed me more than anything.
it was way too weak.
And the whole thing invites pressure now.
Still rooting for the guy but I do wonder with decisions like tonight is he showing signs of cracking. Hopefully he resets and gets the ship turned again.

Unfortunately I totally agree. With slot at the moment it just seems all or nothing, with no in-between
We go behind in games, he tends to throw anyone who can attack on in hope a goal or 2 can come from somewhere
The players are obviously so low on confidence, why then would you basically change the entire team in a cup game? Is it not the perfect chance to hopefully find some form?
Make adjustments fine. But that I just can't understand, who was that helping? What was he expecting?

I do - we go to Anfield or a battle with Villa and a better atttudattitude than your deflated one.
Klopp rotated in the League Cup. It was miracle some of the results we got and we rode our luck many times.
I get the hysteria. Well actually I don't because we've got a quick turn around to Villa, and I'd rather have our full strength available for that than have more of our regular starters out there tonight then back up again.
We're already down a CB, a RB, injury question marks over Grav and Jones fitness, Isak injured.
So i think on balance, in a round we would normally rotate in anyways, this was the likely line-up.

I do. Play to the players strengths. Klopp football. If ireola is the man for that so be it. Slot came in with a reputation for adaptability. I'm not seeing it.

It’s a massive gamble by Slot and it could backfire completely.
The Carabou is another potential trophy to win, it was another potential get out of jail card.
If he doesn’t turn around league form then we’re playing for top 4.
The Champions league is a non-starter in this form.
That leaves the FA cup.

Agree with Faithinworks here. Slot said post-match that he put a near identical team out for the Carabou last season.
For me, that cup is a shot in the dark and a chance to rest players while giving others some game time.
We’re not far off the top of the table and, after our recent form, im more than happy to throw our eggs in two baskets with the PL and CL.

Which game in the Carabao Cup last season did Slot put out a similar team to the one he did yesterday? The only one that came close was the one in the FA Cup against Plymouth but even then, the contexts were different. We were in four competitions then so I can understand prioritising other competitions even if I don't agree with that decision.
It's only October now so no reason to throw away a cup, especially when we are in such wretched form. Completely unacceptable for a club our size to be intentionally throwing a game.

what was Slot moaning about 3 games in a week a small squad. He has lost the plot and we need a change now to save the season. That was a crazy side put out last night.

“It is always a blow to lose a game of football, especially if it leads to going out of a competition. But it is the same selection I did tonight as I did last season in rounds like this. ” - Slot
Not sure which games he was specifically referring to.

Given the absolute horrendous form we’re in, putting out a side like against another premier league side was only going to end one way and was absolutely pathetic management, regardless of the bizarre mental gymnastics being done by some around here to justify throwing a match. Every defeat further saps the morale of the squad and for the younger players they gained absolutely nothing.
Yesterday was an opportunity to get a win and try to stop the rot. When the inevitable (and it is inevitable given how absolutely awful we are) happens on Saturday evening and we lose at home to Villa, will you be just as effusive about that defeat as well, Faith and Gini? No doubt you’ll be saying defeat at home to Villa would be ideal preparation for playing Madrid.

I’m sorry but the fans who paid good money for a ticket tonight and probably as it’s easier to get tickets for these matches will rarely get to watch Liverpool in the the flesh very often, to see that starting line up is just a mick take never mind Mickey Mouse cup he binned that game off before a ball was kicked.
