Can we ask FSG to:

1) never buy a striker from Newcastle ever again

2) only buy players from Southampton.

I know this is said in Jest but, Isak isn't the problem and he definitley isn't a Carroll. If we continue with this slow, dreary build up play and provide him no service. Then the opposition could play with no keeper and we still wouldn't score. Although I do agree that he could and perhaps should be doing a little more to impose himself and make something happen.

I was a huge advocate of the 4-3-1-2 but I have shifted to the 4-2-3-1. Get Szobo and Grav providing the engine, Wirtz behind Isak or Eki and let two actual wingers provide some service/ space for the striker.

I know Gakpo got a lot of stick on Wednesday, he isn't a bad player, he was just playing in this system that needed width and is a player that prefers to cut in. All it does is condence the space and make it easier to defend. Slot seemed to realise that but changed the system instead of the personnel.

Sorry gone off on a tangent sligtly but to sumarise, Isak isn't behing helped by the dross we are dishing up right now.

Clyne, Lambert, Ings and Lovern weren't exactly World beaters.

We've had a few stinkers from Southampton too - Lallana, Lambert, Lovren, Clyne to name a few.

Ricky Lambertĺ.

Isak would be fine if we took less than 4000 passes to get the ball to him.

How was Lallana a stinker? He was one of Klopp's favorite players his first two seasons, and put in some great performances in a red shirt under him. Lovren was never a top class center half but certainly for the most part he was a very decent one, won us the game against Dortmund too.

Clyne too was never a great player by any stretch of the imagination but he was also never a rubbish one, he did his job in a fairly unremarkable but dependable fashion. I think I would rather have him in the side than Glen Johnson.

Lallana spent one third of his Liverpool career on the treatment table, a third pointlessly pirouetting and the other third in Klopp's embrace. Was bang average at best for Liverpool.

Lovren made some incredibly costly errors for us - that City game which could have seen us be invincibles, champions, champions league winners and centurians but for two mistakes.

Clyne was busy doing balloons.

And that was at a time when we had bunk beds in the treatment room as we had so many players in there.

Lovren made mistakes, doesn't make him a mistake of a purchase, he played a lot of games for us and generally did decently well, loved the club too. Lallana the same. Not sure what we expect, for every transfer to be a hall of famer? I would certainly never class them as being mistakes or stinkers.

@PB, very valid comments. Lallana and Lovren were never world class but they were good enough to do a good job for us.

Instant personal gratification is prevalent these days and anything that doesn’t meet perfection at all times should seemingly be removed immediately, with the subjective opinion of the observer about what constitutes perfection being the yardstick.

The trouble comes with the observer not being able to articulate their view of perfection and how it can / should be achieved and oftentimes assuming that their opinion is fact.

If you apply the ‘data, information, knowledge and wisdom’ matrix most times attempts at conversation / communication fail because there is a tendency for people to try and start at the ‘knowledge’ step with no underpinning data and information to support knowledge, and hence what is put forward is people’s opinion masquerading as knowledge.

Anyway, who cares. I can’t wait for the Leeds match and us giving them a lesson.

FlyPelicanFly, I wouldn't include Lallana and esp. Lovren in that category. Sure, Lovren had issues and flaws to his game BUT as soon as Klopp came esp. with VVD signing, it liberated him and allowed him to play his game and play a lot better than he was prior.

Remember, he made a WC final with Croati, rated as the top 2 performing CB's in the comp., all while being MOTM in the CL final we lost in Kiev in the same year 2018. Good CB. Not great and that's fine. We all can't be great.

Lallana? Very good player but I think he lacked the engine to play in a Klopp system over time. Still a good player.
