Finally, someone asked Slot why Chiesa isn’t getting more game time, and this was his response:
"Every player has the possibility to start, but we have many options to start in his position. He is indeed having an impact coming off the bench. "
On a previous occasion, when asked about the "lack of competition" for Gakpo’s spot, Slot said:
"You can look at it in a way that if someone plays a lot, it gives them consistency and confidence. When I speak to players who don’t play a lot, they say they need minutes for confidence. I don’t think Cody suffers from a lack of competition. Players can play in his position. "
Then he mentions: "I haven’t tried Ekitike on the left because of Isak's injury record, and Rio’s minutes are being managed because he’s only 17."
And Chiesa? Well, according to Slot, he’s doing well coming off the bench for the 5-10 minutes he gets here and there.
So, there’s a lot of competition for Gakpo's spot, but apparently, no competition for Gakpo's place.
Slot is literally talking out of both sides of his mouth here. There’s blatant hypocrisy.

Chiesa should be playing but I’d play him in salah’s position. Salah offers absolutely nothing, can’t cross a ball, can’t tackle, can’t score, can’t dribble…. his time is done and I hope if we get a decent offer for him in January from the Arabs, take it and jog him on.
We can use that money on someone else. I mean at the moment, other than a couple of players that included Chiesa, none of the current team are playing good but salah has been ? all season so far.

Chaos, you’re talking absolute dog ? if Salah is the centre of our woes what does that say about the rest of the team too. They’ve all been garbage so we may as well sell the lot. Salah didn’t even start the other night and we were woeful then.
