I get a looming feeling we won’t get anyone in Jan, too much change already is the reason?

27 Dec 2025 07:03:42
I would be happy with just Guehi, an attacker would be a bonus.
Gakpo is due back with Chiesa, Rio and Frimpong should be enough up top until Mo and hopefully Isak returns.

27 Dec 2025 08:06:32
everyonbe 'ITK' has been saying Semenyo is nailed on, now we are not buying anyone.
Seems slot has until the end of the season to do what he can with what he has.

27 Dec 2025 09:18:57
Can we just sit back and see what happens? All the hysteria slinging mud at Hughes and Slot is pretty tiresome considering the window hasn't even opened yet.

27 Dec 2025 09:49:48
Patrik
It’s just opinions, no different than posters wanting to put a positive spin on what has been a really poor season for the PL Champions.
I did think it’s fair to try and dictate what is said either way. If you think the OP is wrong then say so.

27 Dec 2025 09:52:37
I feel we won't be giving money/ players to a manager who is leaving at the end of the season.

27 Dec 2025 10:21:23
barryw33 - Leaving at the end of the season? Get a grip of yourself mate. We're 5th on goal difference. Slot's not going anywhere unless we lose a substantial portion of our remaining games.

27 Dec 2025 10:43:59
4th by the end of today if results go our way. Even if there were a succession plan for the manager in the summer the club would still want this season to be a success which as things stand could still include a trophy and a top 4 finish. The club has always said if the right player at the right price becomes available them we go for it, Slot or no Slot that still stands.

Should we be higher in the league? on paper yes but for one reason or another it hasn't happened but there is still a lot to play for and we need reinforcements.

27 Dec 2025 11:15:30
“5th on goal difference “ sounds like an achievement from the 90s.
I think unless Slot turns it around and we see some sort of improvement in our playing style and in the League or a CL trophy then I think his time at Liverpool is done.

27 Dec 2025 11:20:19
I'm not censoring anybody's opinions, but getting irate or anxious about us not signing anybody and supposedly throwing the season away is pretty premature considering the window hasn't even opened. I'm sure the club are looking to strengthen or fill in holes in the squad if they can, that's their job and historically they have been okay at it.

27 Dec 2025 12:19:20
You got all that from the Original post?

27 Dec 2025 12:24:34
Personally I’d love Slot to turn this season around and have us play exciting attacking football whilst winning with the talent he has at his disposal. But what I want and what will happen is likely to be worlds apart.

I supported the club long before Slot came and will long after it. That doesn’t mean I want him gone but if the football continues as it is then it will be harder and harder to back him.

Winning ugly isn’t a bad thing but doing it for a full season whilst also losing uglier isn’t going to do him many favours.

Well said JK.

The Irish Rover! - Just to make it clear, I'm no fan whatsoever of Slot or his "style" I've been heavily critical of him since back in February. I don't in any way rank 5th as an achievement. So don't confuse me speaking facts for anything other than just that.

Lets be clear on something else, FSG have no concern with playing style. The most important thing to them is that the club remains profitable and its value continues to grow, so long as that happens and we continue to stay competitive and relevant at the top of the table there's no major concern from the owners point of view. Its a business to them. They genuinely care more about revenue from merch, matchdays and broadcasting rights than they care about play style. If the play style shows a manager to be out of his depth due to persistently poor tactical choices then the hierarchy will certainly bring that up with the owners, but that's all entirely dependent on results. If you play ugly and come top 4, there's no problem, no from a business perspective. Hypothetically, if Slot wins the Champions League, or any other trophy, with complete an utter anti-football, I guarantee you not 1 single person of importance at Anfield will give a flying **** about his style. We are not Real Madrid, FSG do not expect to win trophies every year. Slot is 1 of only 5 managers to ever win the PL in his first season, that carries for more weight than any difference of opinion over tactical decisions.

So I'm afraid you're just flat out wrong, there's no known universe in which Slot would be fired due to his choice of playing style, not unless it directly effected our results to such an extent that we finish bottom half of the table.

Klopp finished 8th in his first season. He also finished 5th and 4th multiple times, well outside title contention. Not to mention FSG have seen Hodgson, Dalglish and Rodgers all make a complete balls of things. They took over during one of our worst periods. We hadn't won a trophy of any sort in 4 years prior to the FSG takeover, and after they did we won only 1 trophy in 8 years. They are well used to a trophy drought and believe me, all things considered, coming 5th will not be seen as a failure or anything close to a sackable offence.

27 Dec 2025 12:59:40
I just want 2 defenders. 1 young and talented, 1 proven.

Let Konate and Gomez go at the end of the season and get another defender then.

27 Dec 2025 13:23:02
Slots playing style is having a direct effect on our results and Klopp took over a team that quite frankly was a dogs dinner. Slots took over a team that fell apart in the last month in the previous campaign, completely different scenarios, not to mention £450 million of new talent, 5th place is an abysmal effort in my opinion for a team that is PL Champions.

27 Dec 2025 14:02:43
Far too many beers in your belly Chewy IMO. I'm with you completely Irish Rover. Slot will not be manager of LFC come KO in August 26.

27 Dec 2025 14:41:36
But we are in a transition period Irish. as bloody PL Champions.

So 5th, and given that CL qualification goes to 5th place. apparently its been a good season so far.

27 Dec 2025 14:57:44
I would think if Konate doesn't get what e expects from abroad next month he will be reaching for that Liverpool pen rather quickly.

Still plenty to play for yet Irish, best to stick together and see if we pull something out of the bag, for now we have what we have.

3 points incoming.

27 Dec 2025 18:35:06
Joint fifth in December though Irish. I reckon we'll finish 3rd. Not saying that's good enough but it is what it is. get that and see what we do in the fa cup andchampions lge. For what its worth Slot'll be here next yere IMO.

27 Dec 2025 18:44:47
@chewysuarez7, Klopp finished 8th in his first 8 months in charge as he arrived midseason so, not a full season.

He finished 4th in his first 2 full seasons and finished 5th once in the 8 full seasons he was here.

Just to clarify.

28 Dec 2025 06:35:27
OliRed - Not sure why you felt the need to share those details but thanks I guess. My point was that Klopp finished outside title contention on multiple occasions, with no talk of his job being at risk. We are not Real Madrid, we do not fire managers for finishing 5th. FSG do not expect Liverpool to win trophies every season. They are a business, their main concern is not a particular style of play, if Slot employs a total anti football approach but achieves results to remain competitive not a single person at FSG is going to give a **** what fans think about his style of play.

Their main goal is profit, they achieve that by ensuring we remain competitive, trophies are a bonus. Slots titling winning debut season carries far more weight than finishing 5th during a period of extensive rebuild, injury woes and all the other nonsense going on this season.
