Got to be honest, in 52 years of supporting LFC I was so amped about the quality of players that were signed, (I still believe good additions) Looking back at the Souness, Hodgson, Rodgers teams with limited budgets as part excuse, I can't recall seeing such a disjointed, lethargic and mismanaged team, I could be wrong? Zvakwana is an apt word in the local Shona dialect for what we are witnessing.
Mr. Slot, "enough is enough".
27 Dec 2025 18:52:57
Zimwool I think your post hits the toilet when you hold up Souness/ Hodgson/ Rogers teams as being less mismanaged, the last time I checked, none of those managers won a league title.
If you want to look for a more recent comparison, look at the defence of the title after Klopps team won, there was a 30 point drop the following season because our CBs got injured and there was a drop off in the team.
This team has 4 new players (Kerkez/ Wirtz/ Eki/ Frimpong), Salah’s form dropped off a cliff (5), Konate seems to have forgotten that he is a CB (6) and Isak has yet to get going (7).
A couple of CB injuries caused a 30 point drop off for Kloops title winning team, so get a grip, we are not in the same stratosphere as Souness/ Hodgson/ Rogers.

D-Day, we can't see out a game at home against a team that is on course to be the worst ever PL team. This could easily have finished 2-2.
27 Dec 2025 19:16:24
Well we did see it out Red Flyer but it wasn’t pretty.
27 Dec 2025 19:17:19
The score was 2:1 Red, we did see out the game.
Jesus wept, there are some loons on this site.
27 Dec 2025 19:23:43
Is a win not seeing it out?
27 Dec 2025 19:32:09
I can only speak for myself and I’ve got to be really honest. But even when we Win, it almost feels like we’ve lost the game?
I don’t understand what it is, it’s just so boring. The football isn’t good enough for Liverpool it needs to change.
27 Dec 2025 19:38:20
@red Arsenal needed a stoppage time own goal (to add the earlier own goal) to get a 2-1 win at home to them. It’s the Premiere League and even the worst teams can beat anybody on their day.
It wasn’t great but it was 3 points, a fourth consecutive win and 5 wins (and unbeaten) in 7. It’s a start and something to build on.
27 Dec 2025 19:39:28
Yet another truly dire performance, and I agree with Zim that the excitement of the quality of signings makes what we have been forced to watch even more more bitter.
We're back to being flattered by the results like we were the first five games of the season, except I think we look even worse now. No fight, no attack, no press. Just waiting for the next losing streak to start because as soon as one of these close results don't slip our way (against 9 men or relegation sides none the less) this team looks ready to fall apart again.
27 Dec 2025 19:46:59
The first ever 2 - 1 draw. If you are so determined to find fault you should just head off and “support” someone else. Disappointing day with us moving into the top 4 I guess?
On a different note in the real world Wirtz’s through ball to Ekitike alone was worth watching the match. The lad is going to achieve great things.
27 Dec 2025 20:03:26
Snuggleport, during the halcyon days of the 19/ 20 title winning season, LFC won 34% of their matches by a single goal, sometimes coming in the last few minutes against the run of play, and drew a few.
Sometimes it’s just about the score at the end of the match.
27 Dec 2025 20:14:11
Whilst I’m far from a Slot fan, I am depressed that fans come in here and criticise the team for winning. We’ve won 5 out of the last 7. Back in the top 4. It’s not all terrible.
27 Dec 2025 20:20:26
Well i misspoke thx for letting me have it boys. But no sugar coating that it was dire.
27 Dec 2025 20:21:58
100% agree Hassle, LFC have a good run of fixtures coming up and a chance to gain points on Arsenal and City, neither of whom are playing well and also just about scraping wins. Bar Villa, no one looks to be playing to their full potential so winning ugly at the moment is ok. Dom was badly missed today,
27 Dec 2025 21:00:59
Ah here's Wdw to ram his opinion down everyone's throat like his is the only one that matters and if you don't agree with him you can go support someone else.
27 Dec 2025 21:21:27
Seeing it out at home, at Xmas, against wolves. Sums us up!
27 Dec 2025 23:25:35
It’s my opinion @Whatsup. Not ramming it down people’s throats, just saying what I think. In your case you are totally negative about every aspect of the club without offering anything whatsoever in terms of how to make it better, even if it was to say who you’d replace Slot with from any candidates that might be available. you are just whining about 5he club because that’s in vogue at 5he m9ment.
We are fourth in the league, we are going ok in the CL and you’d think reading what you write that the club is about to fold. Any clown can support a side that’s winning and playing well, being a supporter of a team not playing well demonstrates how and why people actually support the club.
28 Dec 2025 00:12:40
This thread is fascinating…. I agree with both sides of the argument, results are what matter but performances are worrying.
For me, I am not enjoying the football. We look slow, unfit and are just a general bore in attack whilst lacking resilience, fight and defensive sensibilities. I think the results are papering over the cracks and that we’re getting results due to the quality of players rather than tactical/ team performance.
I always optimistic but let’s but honest, current performances are not good enough and we should expect/ be getting more!
28 Dec 2025 00:24:57
@WDW and all the rest of the "stop whining" crew. Everyone on here supports the club (except ed25, but they're special), if supporting means watching the games, wanting them to win, feeling the pain when they don't, and plonking out hard earned cash for tickets, gear, etc. However, anyone who can't see that the football is generally poor (at best) is blind. "Supporting" the team does not mean you cannot complain and the whole "I'm such a true red I never complain and only see the good in everything and that makes ME a better supporter than YOU" is a bunch of childish, self-righteous bs.
The football is crap. The fitness is crap. The tactics are crap. The man management is crap. If any of you believe my saying any of that makes me a "non supporter", it says infinitely more about you than me.
28 Dec 2025 00:25:35
Don't forget WDW is a super fan. Well at least he thinks he is.
28 Dec 2025 00:32:53
Who said anything about criticising the club. It's slot that is the problem and you don't want anyone with an opinion that doesn't suit you. Any manager would be better than him right now he's pathetic.
28 Dec 2025 01:25:02
Just because we aren't happy with the performance doesn't make us clowns. U may think that's an opinion but I'd say your average post is pompous and condescending.
28 Dec 2025 01:26:52
I had my doubts but I am almost certain that Whatsup is Harry's new account. His Batman one got called out and disappeared shortly after, and he has reappeared with a new one.
He almost reminds me of Rumpelstiltskin minus the asking for a newborn child. He goes away each time we guess what his real name is only to come back with a different one.
28 Dec 2025 01:45:01
Trying to shutdown someone for having an opinion, how oppressive of you.
28 Dec 2025 05:43:58
How did the 2-1 result flatter us? We hit the post twice in the first half, second half grav had a great chance to score, from a clever set piece flo had a chance to score too, some of you make it seem like we scored two lucky goals and were holding on for dear life.
The truth is that like against spurs we let in a stupid set piece and that changed the momentum of the game somewhat, but all their xG basically came from the shot from the set piece and then the follow up, so it's not like they were creating and creating and we were lucky to keep them out.
I hate that I always have to sound like I'm massively positive about our results and am a publicist for slot when that is far from the case. I just don't understand how folks say all this nonsense about us being the most boring team in the prem, other teams look like world beaters against us, if we hadn't conceded a dumb goal and scored a third none of you would be complaining.
It just sounds to me that a lot of the complaints come from entitlement- 'oh spurs went down to 9 for the last few minutes and we let in a dumb goal and started lumping it, we should be knocking the stuffing out of them' 'oh this team only has 2 points and we're lumping it again, never mind that arsenal did the exact same last week'.
Yes we have things we need to massively improve on, like defending set pieces, but if folks can't see the positive parts of yesterday's game, like our record signing beginning to pick up form (and this is is just the beginning for him, we know he can hit much higher levels), kerkez looking like an absolute warrior on the entire left side of the field, frimpong turning his defender out a few times with raw athleticism and change of direction, the press looking better in parts, our wide players actually getting in behind the low block, then I don't know what to say.
People act like we play the same every single game, have the same problems, but from what I can see there have been differences and improvements that we can be somewhat optimistic and hopeful about.
People have been saying slot is stubborn and has a vendetta against chiesa for example, well, he started him last night. People have been saying we don't get in behind the defense and everything is slow and in front of the block, well, I don't see how you can watch yesterday's game and come to that conclusion, multiple times kerkez, chiesa and frimpong were played in behind the fullback to cut the ball back.
{Ed001's Note - the complaints come from us being terrible in the 2nd half. If you think that second half was good enough, then I am shocked.}
28 Dec 2025 07:01:05
Whatsup isn't Harry as he used to have an opinion beyond ‘I don't like Slot’ or ‘Slot is crap’.
28 Dec 2025 07:18:41
I have to say, I honestly don’t think anybody is trying to stop anybody putting their opinion forward. That said, if people keep putting their same opinion forward every day, then ‘what’s good for the goose is good for the gander’. In my case, I don’t think we are playing well. I repeat we aren’t playing well. But, I do think that there are things to be positive about - you don’t make it into the top 4 of the PL by everything at the club being totally crap.
I also think you don’t beat Athletico and Real Madrid and Inter Milan by being totally crap either. I just find the binary approach is wide of the mark and I’m happy to continue saying so whilst people are being totally negative.
28 Dec 2025 08:42:30
I don't think it was good enough ed, but it also wasn't as bad as people on here are making out either. We let in an idiotic goal and then lost our heads, with many players beginning to tire. We need calm and composure in these situations, and I want to highlight Curtis by saying that he kept his head in several key occasions in the second half when we were under pressure. Kerkez I think was also generally brilliant start to finish.
My point is that it's easy for everyone to come out and slaughter us for the second half performance, but this needs to be balanced by some sort of appreciation for what we managed to decently well. I want to see shoots of hope of my team doing incrementally better moving forward, and want to see evidence that we can improve.
{Ed001's Note - just because you want to see it, it doesn't mean that everyone has to see it. Some people don't. Just like some don't see any problems. It is just the way it is, no point stressing about it and having a go at them for a different viewpoint.}
28 Dec 2025 11:33:10
I think we’re a good technical team which is why we do better against European teams, but we struggle with maintaining any intensity and physicality. I also think we lack a bit of depth and quality in key positions so have to play players who are out of form or fitness or not quite good enough. This leads to inconsistency in games, and between games.
Other thought is that we have a coach who seems overly pragmatic, and his preferred style with us often isn’t exciting to watch. Its not yet clear whether this is temporary or permanent, or part of an evolution towards a better place.
These ingredients don’t sit well alongside our aspirations for this season. We hoped for something from the top table but are being served up something that is often passable but mediocre. The flair and technique sometimes win through which gives a hint at what we could be, but which often leaves you disappointed. I’d say 5.5 out of 10 for the season so far.
