Finishing 3rd with what we've seen so far would be pretty good let's be honest. if we manage that and our Egyptian king came back and had a cracker second half to the season to leave things on a high note. well that would do me at this stage. absolutely crack on again next season.

The Egyptian King will have the same fate as the first half of the season if Slot continues with these tactics.

Salah's poor form has nothing to do with Slot, Frode.

{Ed001's Note - how do you know that?}

Mo's post AFCON form is usually very poor.

My opinion, Ed01, and an opinion shared by many. His form dropped the last few months of last season. His inability to go passed a player is nothing to do with Slot. If you share a different opinion that's your right. My opinion, as I say, is shared by everyone who I attend games with. Maybe we're all wrong.

Rome, the poor form of the whole team has everything to do with Slot.

Separating Mo's "poor form" from the poor form of the whole team overall, makes no sense.

03 Jan 2026 09:57:06
I disagree with you Oli. Like I say, as an example, what has Salah's inability to go passed a defender got to do with Slot? What you are saying makes no sense.

Slot has to take responsibility for the overall performance of the team, but each individual player, especially the senior ones, has to take responsibility for how they are performing. They would admit that themselves.

Salah's ability to go past his guy has long gone though Rome. He doesn't have that explosive pace anymore that made him so lethal. Last season he had the benefit of Trent who can play accurate long balls directly to him so that issue was negated. This season, with the slow football we are playing, Salah struggled, especially since by the time the ball got to him, he already had two to three defenders on him.

It wouldn't be as much of an issue if the ball was played quicker though, when the defenders don't have time to get back into shape and double team him. So yeah, I would say it is down to Slot and his tactics too that Salah, ans the whole team, is looking so poor.

Rome1977! - If Salah was the only one in poor form you'd have a point. But he's not. There's 20 odd players in poor form, that's not a player issue, that's a manager issue.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one, Dracred. The top, top players, which Salah once was, are able to make things happen for themselves, and not rely on service from Trent, or whoever. Like I say, agree to disagree.

03 Jan 2026 11:32:01
Must have been his lack of ability to get past a player that made him top goal scorer AND assists charts last season.

03 Jan 2026 11:46:34
There have been games where the ball has been played as early as we could manage to Salah, our furthest man forward, to isolate his full back. Chelsea is the classic example. He didn't get anything out of Cucurella that game, I understand that Salah's form and Slot's tactics are interrelated with one another but he has also been the focal point of our attack plenty of times this season but hasn't delivered.

03 Jan 2026 12:35:01
Salah lost the ability to beat his defender about 3 years ago.

03 Jan 2026 12:51:02
Salah can't go from top scorer / top assists for years to mediocre for no other reason than they way we are playing . yea he a bit older n slower but still one of the fittest in the team . if we focused on our main goal threat like we did last year, Salah would be still banging the goals in and assisting goals .

Instead he's waiting for someone to pass, but we pass from side to side n back again.

Salah as just an example because he's certainly not on his own. But he is the best example in fairness of what i think of this season so far. No one is saying Slot is blameless and i love Salah to death but c'mon the fact Mo's struggled to control a ball all season, constantly kicked crosses out for goalkicks, did zero defensive work and missed chance after chance cannot all be put on Slot.

Players as well as the manager have to start taking responcibility.

03 Jan 2026 15:45:22
No one said that he has become mediocre, Strom, but it's quite unfair to call out the manager for having a mare but insisting that Salah has had a good year, even he would know he's not performing up to standard.

Funny how for the last couple of months, everyone on here said Salah needs to sit. Slot sits him and Salah's form is now Slot's fault…

A lot of hypocrisy on this site. 2 things can be true…Salah's form can be bad and Slots tactics can be bad, but they can be independent of each other. Slot is at fault for a lot, but do we need to blame him for everything? Next you'll be saying Isak's broken leg is his fault.

Liverpool will be lucky to finish 4th and I doubt they will. Not good enough.
