I know he's everyone's darling but szob has been grating on me for a while now. I don't think I've seen him go in for a 50/ 50, yesterday was the first time I can remember him head the ball and the amount of times he slows the play down to a walking pace is unreal.
Sight of him putting his foot on the ball and wafting his hands to say slow down then pass backwards when the break is long gone makes me fume. Is It instructions? I'm getting the feeling he's believing the noise about himself being our best player this season.

I'd say Szobo has been our best player this season, not through any burning quality but because he's shown commitment and done the hard yards in games which is all I'd ask as a minimum for a player.
I do agree however he's shirked some 50/ 50 as of late and for me can be a bit too cute in possession at times. The Gerrard comparisons for me are the most absurd.

He's probably been player of the season, but the competition is very weak.

Scouse I was frustrated with Szob yesterday but not for his 50/ 50's. If anything I think he works hard defensively.
The players I saw pull out of 50/ 50's yesterday were Grav, Frimpong, Jones (I might be wrong on that one), Gakpo, Chiesa and Ekitike.
Virg didn't really close anyone down to have a 50/ 50 which is another frustration. He got clattered from behind off the ball in the second half and that seemed to make him a little more aggressive. Shouldn't need that though.

Szbo has looked to layed back the last few games. Love his energy but just got to cocky at the min.

I agree JK, I'm a season ticket holder, I don't want to be pelted here, however, Szob is getting some criticism, Macca has been off the
Boil, comments about Grav not being as good or consistent, virg too, certainly not the nemesis he was once was. Ibou, who knows what's going on in his head at the min, integrating new players to play along side and aging Salah, a record signing arriving unfit with lack of pre season and niggling injuries before succumbing to a bad one.
Wirtz has taken time, but wow what a player he is and going to be.
With all of this, still 4th, still champions league still FA Cup,
As much as it is ultimately down to Slot to do his job and Manage, get tactics right, get game management and man management right, it isn't all gis fault given the form and commitment of some players!
Ive said before, id like to see him get it right rather than bounce from manager to manager!

I think he's following instructions. least I hope so! Yesterday he was actively telling VVD to slow the game down when in the first half Virgil was pinging great diagonals to Frimpong. most worrying. Slowing the game down v Burnley at home is not the Liverpool way I'm afraid Dom. we should be suffocating them and penning them back for the full 90 mins mate.
Slot out I'm afraid, his heart isn't in it anyway, you can see the club is fractured by the body language. Ship Hughes as well, our transfer dealings are a laughing stock again, no wonder Klopp seized control away from that clown shoes transfer committee. Start again, get Xabi in the seat and up the tempo again please. Attack, attack, attack.

Same goes for all our midfielders there John. They were all horrendous out of possession and not much better in possession.
Powder puff midfield that has no fight, physicality or work ethic. Lightweight would be an extremely generous description.

But I honestly believe this Formation/ System/ Tempo doesn't suit any of them. Szobo falls into that category
We're too slow for a 4/ 3/ 3. It worked last season because Nunez, Jota (a fresher Salah) Luis Diaz. They were all Direct, Quick, Movement.
We're not that team anymore, it should've been a 442 diamond from the first kick of the season, flooded the midfield to protect the dodgy defence, Kerkez and Frimpong providing the width.
But we bottled it and did this. Slot is to blame. Should've gone months ago.

@ scouse john L8 - I couldn't agree more. He has been poor and the cause of more than one or two goals against us. He loses the ball in dire circumstances and tries ridiculous throughballs when better options are available. He has been given seniority since TAA left and it has proved to be a mistake.

Szob has had a very good season, agree some of his game has been stifled by slot. But he's the next captain for me. He's not a issue for me. What a engine he has. Him wirtz and ekitike have been the shining lights in a very dull season.
