To take Trent back may be a mistake - why?
It is not the same team he played in players have changed system has changed so he may well not fit into the team pattern.
But with Edwards and Hughes in charge you never say never they would think it would keep the fans on their side.
YNWA.

I can see Trent being at City or United in a few years time.

How would signing Trent keep the fans onside? I don't want him back ever again and most of the supporters feel the same i believe ??.

I think anybody who wants him back should go and read the clubs official statement when they announced his departure. That tells me all I need to know about his behaviour in the last 12 months of his contract. It was so unemotional, blunt and matter of fact. His attitude/ behaviour obviously stank the place out. Many of the current squad also unfollowed him on social media and/ or didn't even bother to post a goodbye message. It was a sour end, and a wound that doesn't need to be reopened.
He was and is a fantastic footballer who'd walk into our team. There's more to football though and Trent burned his bridges far as I'm concerned.

Were there rumours of us taking him back then?
21 Jan 2026 12:21:07
I think he's becoming more and more injury prone anyway. The last thing we need.

I've not seen any stories linking him with a return. There are stories that he wants out of Madrid and maybe people are putting 2 and 2 together and getting 66. I for one do not want him near the club again and I can't see any situation where he would be welcomed back.

ArneSlotsBarber, I don't get that either.

He'll end out at Newcastle or Villa if he comes back the prem.

If he came back, all would be forgiven, or at least forgotten, if he started racking up assists again. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.
Not like it's going to happen though.

Never have him back. Imagine being missed less by your own people than a stranger is. Hopefully the club play him along until last day of the transfer window then pull the plug.

Class player, wouldn't take him back though. Partly because of how he left and also agree with someone above that he's started to pick up more injuries. Played a lot of games as a young player and seems to be catching up. Besides the club will never pay a big fee for him after him going for peanuts.

SR, no it wouldn't. El Rato squirming his way to Madrid and shafting the club he supposedly loves will never be forgotten.

Arne slots barber,
You my friend are one fan you do not speak for all the fans it is only your opinion and i respect that but not everyone wanted Trent to go.
The lads is a football player who gave 20 years service to Liverpool football club he has tried something new he learnt the language but it has so far not worked out .
I for one would like him to play for us again rather man city or man united YNWA.

the way we play now would be more suited to Trent's strengths and desire to play more centrally from the fullback position.
