I am assuming Andy "Robbo" has asked LFC to listen to offers for him!? £8m in the Summer of 2017, what a servant! The best Left Back LFC have had in recent memory!

Spurs or whoever are getting a good player but an even better fella! Thank you + all the best Andy YNWA! ??????♥️.

Defo makes top 3 left backs of premleague era.

{Ed025's Note - he was very good Max...not Leighton Baines good but a very fine player mate.. :)

23 Jan 2026 20:25:22
Leighton Baines. Absolute fantasy football team stalwart. Did he win enough trophies to warrant a tag of best in PL era though, Ed25?

{Ed025's Note - he was in a poor side for most of it Stoneage, but an excellent player nonetheless mate..

23 Jan 2026 20:25:50
That makes me laugh Ed25. Been a long time since I see someone mentioned Leighton Baines.

{Ed025's Note - what a player he was Mfahmee..nice guy as well mate..

{Ed025's Note - isn,t everyone Digger.. :)

Not sure Robbo makes the top 3 of the Premier League era. Dennis Irwin #1, then probably Ashley Cole #2.

Maybe Robbo does because City never seemed to nail that spot down. And his assist record was on a par with Trent's for a while.

23 Jan 2026 23:05:17
Ashley Cole had a nose bleed every time he got over the halfway line. Probably a better defender than Robbo but nowhere near as good attacking. Overall Robbo was the best for 3-4 years.

23 Jan 2026 23:47:06
Ashley Cole was one of the best left backs in the world. let's have it right, I love Robbo but Cole was world class.

24 Jan 2026 00:31:39
Cole
Irwin
Robinson.

24 Jan 2026 03:44:30
Cole. Irwin. Sessions.

I lived in Leighton Baines. I'm perfectly practical but there was a youth problem and the buses were iffy.

24 Jan 2026 07:40:20
Top 3 LB's? Robertson has to be in there. Irwin and Cole are unquestionable though IMO, much as I hate to say it.
Baines would make my top 5 though, probably joined by Evra.

24 Jan 2026 08:43:04
That's about right in the last twenty years Westwood. Not many competing for the top 5 when you think about it, those all stood out and we were lucky to have him.

Scratching my head on right backs, Trent was obviously a very good passer of the ball but not sure he'd be classed as an all round top 5 right back. Steve Finnan probably our best, with Timber the best around at the moment but he wouldn't be a top 5.

24 Jan 2026 11:00:56
What about Liverpool legend Paul Konchesky and not forgetting his mum.

24 Jan 2026 11:21:22
Robbo is comfortably the greatest left back I've seen for Liverpool. I was born too late to see Alan Kennedy. Legs don't come back once they've gone so just wish him well.

24 Jan 2026 11:38:01
Trent won a title at the peak of his powers in the greatest XI we've ever had in the premier league and changed the way that we think of the right back position. Surely he has to be among the great premier league full backs whatever you may think of him as a person.

24 Jan 2026 11:44:15
What about the best three lb of Liverpool in PL era?
1. Robbo

2. Riise

3. Aurelio / or Babbel (the German one)

24 Jan 2026 12:19:36
Irwin, Cole, Robbo. PL LBs.

Kennedy, Robbo. after that I suppose Riise. I never saw say Gerry Byrne playing so I don't have an opinion on him but I'd say he was up there too.

24 Jan 2026 12:23:44
Trent could pass a ball but couldn't defend, end of, so that's rules him out of being the best FB. couldn't even hold an England place down.

24 Jan 2026 13:11:44
Steve Staunton.

24 Jan 2026 15:10:33
Stan Staunton was a very solid LB with a wonderful left foot. He hardly gets a mention now.

24 Jan 2026 16:18:28
Babbel was very good for one or two seasons and then he got the illness. Riise was very good as well, certainly in comparison to what's around now. We had a pretty good team around that time, and played some really good football.

24 Jan 2026 13:19:42
Ed025 Why do people always say Denis Irwin was a left back he was a right back playing left back.
Definitely the best right back in the premier league ever.
Ashley Cole was a for me one of the most overrated players ever I hear people compare him to Paolo Maldini and Reberto Carlos. Probably the best left back in the league but for me it's not as clear as people make out he offered very little going forward and for Chelsea he played in the best team in the league but it was a very defensive team slightly like the Arsenal team now.

Robbo is a lot closer than people give him credit for and so is Patrice Evra. Ed Leighton Baines had a great left foot could defend but what stops him from challenging for top 3 is his lack of pace. he reminded me of Steve Staunton fir us in the 80s who had a wand of left foot ed but he lacked pace too.

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions Grino, for me Maldini was the best but in the prem Baines and Irwin were top class mate, Roberto was very good but he excelled i a very good side and i doubt he could reproduce that standard in England. just my opinion of course..
