Poor 1st 30mins but played v well after that. Good to see us not folding after conceding, we ripped into game. great credit to konate after a v difficult time for him he played very well and delighted to see him score, v fitting.
Grav, wirtz and ekitike outstanding I thought. Wirtz+ ekitike our future no doubt.

Excellent performance. I knew Konate would score, it was written in the stars. Great to see ?.

Mac Allister being an embarrassment aside, I really enjoyed a PL game for a long time.

I would say that Gordon should have been sent off for the late tackle. Followed just on from raising his hand to Macca. The lad is reckless at best.

Other than that Mo is still mis-firing and as I've said a couple of times recently Wirtz and Ekitike are looking vey, very promising indeed.

Bring on Citeh.

I agree digger. First half hour I was absolutely livid to be honest. Best thing that happened to us was their goal and the crowd/ players got up, and they delivered how we know they can

But it's irrelevant for now, The night completely belongs to Konate. I'm delighted for the boy after a terrible couple of weeks.

Very clear intent to play the ball quicker. From the start it was a lot of long balls to nothing but eventually it clicked into gear.

Has a lesson been learned.

We will see. Not sure.

Well said @LFC08. The lad had a great game at a very trying time in his personal life.

Great after the first 30 mins. Hope we can put in more performances like the last 60 mins.

First league game i can remember in a long while where we dug deep after going down to a goal, and fought back hard. The sort of resilient never-say-die attitude of the Klopp years that saw us beat Norwich, Dortmund and Barcelona by imposing our will on the opposition.

Too often this season heads have dropped and blame thrown around but i thought we looked cohesive and united for the most part once the barcodes had scored.

Agree WDW cracking game to watch that.

On the Macca embarrassing are you talking the Gordon push? For me I agree If so he went down holding his neck like he'd been poisoned by the Kremlin where the push was in his chest. Personally I don't think that's a yellow card and the commentators need to stop being snowflakes and call it out.

After clearly seeing it was play acting they announced he'll need time to recover from that.

Should have just said what a wet wipe Macca is being.

Darwin agree. And I think applause goes out to Wirtz on that one. At 1 down we were on the edge of their box going side to side or playing hopeful balls and he literally took the game by the scruff of the neck to get that equaliser for Ekitke.

From then on we took control.

01 Feb 2026 08:26:14
I agree on Macca, that really frustrated me and I was hoping commentary would call him out…. just play the game and stop being a melt.

We looked excellent on the break yesterday, which was a reflection Newcastle came to play and there was space to exploit. Similar games in Europe have helped us.

Supplement the right side of our defence and add something in central midfield and the picture changes, particularly now we're connecting better going forwards.

@JK, there was the Gordon one when he spent about 20 seconds clutching his throat and there was another one later on where he collapsed like he'd been shot near the half way line and he just lay on the floor for about 10 / 15 seconds and the he just got up and played on after everybody ignored him.

{Ed025's Note - hes a disgrace WDW..

01 Feb 2026 10:06:50
WDW ?. I missed the second one then as the old man bladder kicked in.

01 Feb 2026 10:09:33
As regards MacAlister, that's where you need a strong Captain to pull him to one side and tell him to cut out that diving and rolling around crap.
It's embarrassing and very telling at one stage during the game, as he lay prostrate on the ground, we had possession of the ball and kept playing.

The ball went between 6/ 7 players and none went to kick it out of play.
They all knew he was acting that gobrubbish as usual.

01 Feb 2026 11:01:39
MacAllister play acting on the "throat injury" was embarrassing to say the least.

01 Feb 2026 14:00:49
@Centre well, if the manager nor capt. ain't saying anything then, Macca will keep doing it. Imagine getting hit in the chest and holding your throught. Pathetic.
