Great to get the 3 points but how we won that game 5-2 I will never know.
We are so weak all over the park. We never win a 50/ 50, hell we hardly ever win a tackle.
We desperately need a physical presence in midfield.
We would have struggled against a better team today.
Our centre halves are winning headers but we never win the second ball.
Another bug bear is all of our players turning their backs when an opposition player shoots. They all do it and Van Dijk is the worst for it.
We need to start showing more determination and desire to win the ball back.

Take the win, and it is good to get the goal difference up, but we were awful. We played through with such ease, and West Ham defs had the better of it in open play. All we can hope is that we have enough for 5th, and then revamp in the summer, ideally not under Slot, who seems to be taking these players backwards.

Wouldn't have agreed with that. 2nd half we were sloppy, but thought first half we were v good apart from a couple of mistakes playing out from the back that nearly cost us. It was a nervous atmosphere inside Anfield at the start, tbf, but the early goal settled the nerves. 2nd half we were a bit complacent, but always felt we could up it when needed. Scoring 5 goals at home and winning by 3 is never a bad thing, no matter the opposition.
We missed some guilt edge chances, I was right behind Gakpos missed at far post and Nyonis looked harder to miss, but overall good performance, good win and much improved on Forest last week. Plenty of room for improvement, but hard to complain too much about scoring 5 at home and 3 points rarely in doubt.

I tell you what, though, give me that performance over the Forest one last week every day of the week. Might have watched half the game through my fingers, but at least it was exciting, emotional and entertaining. Last week, I have no words for.

I agree with JK23, it was far from perfect, and we rode our luck at times, but it was a good game to watch, and when we attacked we attacked quickly and with good energy. When we did go forward I felt like we were going to score.
None of this sideways crap for the sake of sideways crap. Yesterday's performance u could get behind, and give u hope. Forest last week would just bore u to tears and almost leave u numb, it was that tame and slow.

We didn't "never" win a 50/50. This hyperbole is stupid and u helpful.

I'm all for slating the team when we were rubbish. But we deserved to win yesterday and we're the better side.

Sometimes you need a bit of luck to go your way, we've had a lot of bad luck already this season. ?
01 Mar 2026 10:27:45
I'm not so sure we were the better side, though, LFC8. West Ham had better passages of play, and if they had a focal point up top, the score line would be much closer than it is now. We were extremely lucky to have scored 5 and to have only conceded 2.

We won by 3 goals. Only on here would that be a negative. We are not perfect, everyone knows that, but we slate the team enough when we drop points. Can we not just enjoy a win like normal football supporters?
01 Mar 2026 12:11:59
Agreed, Florian. Let's just view it as a 3nil victory, if necessary, and 3 points and be grateful and move on.

Look, Arsenal are top of the league and they've won a lot of games looking terrible and going ahead scoring set pieces. You look at the score and think they were cruising through the game, but if you've actually seen them play, that's far from the case. A lot of the time I've watched them play, they haven't looked comfortable either.
I think a lot of people complaining on here have not seen City or Arsenal play much this year. What's even more insane to me is people praising Villa all the time and suggesting they are leagues ahead of us this year. Have folks even watched Villa play much this year? I have good reason to believe that their fans are just as miserable as us when they don't get a result, because they aren't playing well either.
I'm not sure people on here can suggest that we didn't deserve to win by that margin. We generated chances and we scored them. What else are we supposed to do? When other teams sit in a low block and score set pieces against us, they deserve to win and we are rubbish, but when we do the same we don't deserve it? Oftentimes the shoe is on the other foot.
We have pretty passages of play and get into the box and don't score, before the other team sucker punches us with a set piece against the run of play. Can we enjoy being on the other side of that eventuality for once?
What I enjoyed last night was the full backs actually playing like full backs, keeping the width and trying to get in behind the defense to swing in a cross or cut the ball back. We looked really dangerous on multiple occasions getting balls into the box. Rio skinned his man in the short time he was on the field and almost got a goal. Nyoni did a brilliant late run into the box and should have scored in his cameo. Frimpong left his man for dead and had a goal contribution in less than 10 minutes of play. Do folks know how hard it is to actually beat your man one on one on a consistent basis? We have Frimpong and Rio, who can do it regularly.
People complain about Gakpo, but last night he had a goal and a very good assist, whereas Summerville caught the eye but ended up with zero goal contributions. Which would you actually prefer?

Also, I'm pretty sure Hugo's goal came from Grav winning a header and then a 50/50 in a dangerous area. The third came from Virgil winning a contested header at the near post. We won crucial balls when it counts.

Deprived of a loss to twist themselves into a knot over, some decide to lament a comfortable win. The determination to find something negative is almost admirable.
Comedy gold.

Qualifying for the Champions League next season is the primary goal. Our recent results have put that back in our hands.
No point commenting on the performances. We look pretty much the same as we have done for most of the season. Let's see if that will be enough to achieve the minimum target.

I thought West Ham were more awful than we were good - you could tell they were all over the place defensively from minute 2.
