Not sure if anyone has seen Adam Clery's latest video on youtube about the problems we're having but it's pretty spot on for me.
We're struggling to progress the ball unless in transition, but we can't play transition football because we're too open at the back.
So we do nothing for 45-60 minutes until we go behind or need to push for a goal to win. We then make changes, lose any positional sense due to different players everywhere. Then we're basically playing a 30 minute football match, with players in different positions, and fitness levels not being good enough.

Worst thing is. We're playing again tonight. ??♂️?

Signature Slot.
Trent's ball progression, Diaz's press, and Salah's confidence are gone, with the Virg/Gravy build-up being neutered by the opposition by January last year.
We don't press well, we don't defend well, we don't keep the ball well, and we are not fit. We are literally good at nothing.
06 Mar 2026 11:52:18
Pretty accurate with all of that, but Salah's legs have gone, as well as his confidence.
Nearly every team sets up, so Konate is our out ball, and Slot still hasn't found a way around it.

Yeomans, Love Adam Clery. One of the absolute best analysts on SM. Everything you mentioned there is spot on.
@Pelican, you as well. At this point, I agree. We are almost good at nothing.

Things could be a lot worse. We could be Spurs.
06 Mar 2026 13:21:23
It'll be interesting to see how we fare against them a week Sunday, @Red Jones.
06 Mar 2026 14:09:42
We shouldn't be comparing ourselves to Spurs, though, for me, Red. We are/should be the biggest club in England, but aren't behaving that way. We've allowed ourselves to accept mediocre results and performances.

Not having Wirtz on the field is a massive problem for us, as expected. Also, Slot not pushing the fullbacks up in the first half against Wolves to overload the wide areas was just mindboggling to me. You have to let Frimpong get in isolation situations to take his man on as much as you can. He's shown that he is so dangerous in those situations and can beat his man regularly. It's not that we don't have threat in wide areas, it's that we aren't using it properly. If Gakpo and Mo aren't posing enough of a threat, let Kerkez and Frimpong work with them and bomb forward, and don't commit so many midfielders high up the pitch so we don't get done on the break. It's not rocket science.
The combination play between our fullbacks and wingers is just so poor most of the time that it boggles the mind. Surely Frimpong working with Mo would make Mo's life much easier too, but Mo, half the time, doesn't adjust his game to accommodate Frimpong, and on the other flank things are even worse.
For a few weeks it looked like Gakpo started to realise that Kerkez exists, but it's reverted to the norm again. If the game against West Ham showed us anything, it's that the fullbacks are absolutely key to our attacking play and they need to be unleashed.
I don't really agree that we don't keep the ball well, I think we do keep the ball well. The problem is that we don't force the issue and put the other team to the sword when we do have the ball by outnumbering them in dangerous areas. This is why Wirtz is so crucial, because he'll pop up all over the pitch, and he has the ability to spot corridors for passes and execute them that none of our other players do.

RJ, that's not a high bar now, is it? It's not even a bar to begin with.
06 Mar 2026 15:36:59
Don't know how we're not 20th. Imagine if we finished 3rd despite being crap at everything.
06 Mar 2026 16:58:55
Florian, I am sure you will revel in finishing 3rd by being crap so you can win the contrarian trophy.
Btw, we finished 3rd in 2020/21 season after being crap. It was not a good season, but at least we had an excuse - 3/3 senior CBs out with season-long injuries for more than half of the season.
06 Mar 2026 17:18:10
Any other season we finished 3rd, Fly? Wanna give me a summary of them too? What's your point? I just find it amusing reading some posts. You would actually think we were in 20th position by reading them.
It amazes me how we're able to actually get any results when we are so bad at so many things. It's a big if, but if we finished 3rd, how the hell could only two teams have finished ahead of us when we are so terrible?
06 Mar 2026 17:21:38
If we are only playing 30 minutes of football why is the club paying players the amount they are paying for 90 minutes of football?
YNWA
06 Mar 2026 17:57:09
Florian Musiala, I didn't say we are terrible. I said we are crap. I will qualify that. We are objectively crap.
06 Mar 2026 18:01:23
Whoever finishes third this season will be the best of a bad bunch winners.
06 Mar 2026 18:50:21
JK, the top 2 are nothing to write home about. "RIP PL football" is this season's synopsis. It's been dreadful from top to bottom.
06 Mar 2026 19:03:11
I'll take that, JK. We've only finished higher 4 times in the last 10 years. It's been a turbulent season, so I'd take third.
06 Mar 2026 19:18:58
Red Flyer, I'll be honest, I actually thought that after I posted, mate.
Fm, in the last week, mate, I've seen it said we'll win the CL, FA Cup, and now finish third.
Realistically, that would be the best season we've had in a long time.
However, I reckon I've got more chance of bagging Megan Fox.
But both my mum and Rome have said I'm a handsome devil, so never say never.
06 Mar 2026 19:45:34
Even I never said we'll win the Champions League and FA Cup. ? Not that we cant mind. ?
