Looks like there are rumours that FSG have shelved the multi-club model for now.

And I see Edwards has briefed his frustration about the progress of that.

We might see everyone go this summer at this rate!

Can only hope the circus act leaves this summer. We're making Everton look like a well-run club this season!

Wasn't there a rumours post that said Slot had been called to a meeting today at 10.30am to be informed of his future. Must have been a quick meeting, as he was in the press room at 11!

I don't think a mass exodus helps us secure the signings we are trying to make right now. It will only set us back further with a significant investment in a half-baked team/squad.

I seen this news.

Was going to post and ask if anyone as heard anything? .

In the last couple of weeks I've heard that they are going back to manager style. and if STC is off to Saudi. and Edwards also frustrated and not seemingly suited to the role. maybe a massive clear out is forthcoming.

Ed1. any chance you heard or got a feeling what might happen please? .

Thanks

{Ed001's Note - I am just expecting changes, that's all. I am not sure anyone knows what is happening but Edwards role is redundant so he will either have to be demoted or leave.}

FlyPelicanFly, The only thing half baked is the hierarchy. Slot, Hughes and Edwards, to be precise. Players don't really care too much about execs, they care who the manager is, they care who the team is, how successful we are, what's the vision, how do they fit, and so on. Execs get far too much credit for deals getting done when our biggest bargaining chips are our history and competitiveness.

We are Liverpool, we are a huge attraction, players want to wear the jersey, and if we have Alonso at the helm you could damn near hire Ronald McDonald as the CEO and still have a great transfer window.

I knew Slot only had one year left on his contract, but didn't realise Hughes and Edwards also only have one year left on their contracts.

Get Paul Mitchell in as DoF (or whatever).

20 Mar 2026 14:01:52
Ed, Can you see Edwards being willing to step down into the Hughes role if he heads off to Saudi or would Edwards consider himself above that now?

{Ed001's Note - personally I just hope that he leaves because he was hopeless in that role last time and nearly castrated us financially.}

20 Mar 2026 14:38:31
Ed01, if he is demoted would he then take the Hughes vacancy? And if so, is this the role you always mention that he is most suited to and is most effective for the club??

{Ed001's Note - yes it would be and no, his role would be as an analyst, he is not a decision maker.}

20 Mar 2026 15:57:43
Chewy, I couldn't disagree with you more. The relationships with agents of the types of players we would normally be after, i.e., the very best, are nurtured by the execs over months and months, not by a manager who hasn't even arrived yet and will likely have his hands full with his new job.

If Edwards, Hughes and Slot all leave at the end of the season, won't it just create a massive vacuum effect and lead to uncertainty? Players who are negotiating new contracts (Konate, Dom, Jones, McAllister) will want to know what direction the club is headed, surely. All possible transfer targets will be asking the same thing. Constant churn never seems to work out well. Chelsea, for example.

Will transfer targets change? New DoF, new Manager/Coach will want different things to what's being planned up until now? Champions League or without Champions League also needs to be worked out. Would you want any of them to stay? Who? Surely now Edwards' remit has been scrapped, he'll want to leave. Hughes wanted in Saudi, but it sounds like the club expects him to stay. Slot stays if he wins big ears.

Last year it would have Fastdog and it would have been panic stations on here. But this year it's gonna be fine because we don't like them any more.

20 Mar 2026 18:05:17
Wouldn't be shocked if FSG have stepped in and they all leave in summer.

All 3 should be sacked for this disgraceful season.

20 Mar 2026 19:01:27
What happens if we sack all 3 and we're worse next year. Do it all again?

20 Mar 2026 19:08:38
We'll be fine if Hughes and Edwards leave. Our history sells the club, we don't need anyone to do negotiations. We could always get Doris, the tea lady, to fax the relevant paperwork, I've heard she's very good.

Plus, we're only 5th in the world football table and top of the English table for revenue. What on earth is going on with those that run our club? Doris, sort it out.

20 Mar 2026 19:34:19
I would love to see Ronald McDonald come in. My only concern there is he might be too fond of Big MacAlister, and we should be looking to sell.

20 Mar 2026 20:13:13
What this suggests to me is Mike Gordon is not in the mood to watch this go on any longer.
He's a decision maker, if he thinks they all need to go, they will go.

20 Mar 2026 20:17:26
I think that there's an element of being careful what you wish for. Getting rid of Edwards, Hughes, and Slot isn't the worst idea I've ever heard, but getting rid of them all at once might present some problems in continuity and unsettle the squad.

Hopefully, we have people lined up before we get rid of the current lot. With the World Cup taking place, and the inevitable Asian / American tours pre-season, there are already challenges to get everyone fit and ready for the start of the new season.
