Can’t wait till slots pre match conference. See how many of you can guess what dross he spouts?
Play a slot bingo. I’ll start: we are creating loads of chances.
Fire away.

Is there a point sticking it to Slot anymore? What purpose does it serve? Surely, the animus has to be directed at the people above, Slot looks a bit lost and shellshocked at the moment, the people above just look like cowards hanging him out to dry and then having him take the brunt of anger from the fans if results go badly in this City-PSG-PSG run, if things get so toxic that they have no choice but to pull the trigger, he becomes a scapegoat and they have an excuse in the fact that the fans have turned, but these people are paid big money to make important decisions at decisive times, not be passive wasters using the manager as a sponge for spiralling negativity.

Poor multimillionaire Slot. He received the bouquets last season and now is receiving the brickbats. Tant pis, to use your flowery language.

If they've agreed transfers or contract renewals jointly (Arne and Hughes), then it seems reasonable that Arne gets the blame for this terrible season, as it's more due to tactics and fitness.

If Hughes has decided on transfers or contract decisions which weren't wanted by Arne, then the dynamics change in terms of accountability.

One thing I've never liked with the workings of the model, though, is the silence from Hughes, when it's been clear the squad is short in key areas despite the massive outlay.

I didn't expect to hear from him frequently, but he and others are basically invisible.

It does smack of him not taking any accountability when the structure on paper makes it look like he has a lot of power and influence.

07 Apr 2026 09:02:53
Slot has said he was also behind the summer transfer window.

07 Apr 2026 09:20:58
If Slot ever needs a new agent or defence attorney then I know just the men for the job.

07 Apr 2026 09:24:40
It's been said he wanted Diaz to stay, didn't want Mo or VVD renewed, wanted a CB last close season, and didn't want Kerkez. All rumours though, and he did publicly say he was happy with the transfer business, so who knows the real workings behind the scenes.

07 Apr 2026 09:25:59
Nobody's defending him, we need a change, even I can concede that having my reservations for longer than most on here, but mocking, insulting or making fun of him feels rather beside the point to me now.

07 Apr 2026 09:45:20
PB, I agree. I have been saying it for weeks now. Slot is no longer the issue as his portion of the blame is vast and well-documented so sticking it to him now is prolly good for banter but nothing more, in my view.

Now, Edwards and Hughes assumed blame the moment they came out to back him and essentially telling the rest of us to suck it up and eat our vegetables like good boys and girls and not make a fuss, despite the continuous ship show of a performance from their guy over and over again with no end in sight.

It's all them now. Slot is just taking the heat for them at this point.

07 Apr 2026 10:07:46
Didn't you hear? It's all the Fans fault.

07 Apr 2026 10:02:10
When did Hughes and Edwards come out and back him? Serious question, I can't remember them ever doing so.

My opinion is, Hughes will go to Saudi, or wherever, but Edwards will stay, despite multi club being binned. I know Ed01 is no big fan of either of them, I'm indifferent to the pair of them. Ultimately we are a superbly well run club, off the pitch, and if FSG think that things can be improved upon by getting rid of the 2 of them, they will do. Why wouldn't they?

07 Apr 2026 10:21:45
Come on, lads, it's a Slot bingo, who can guess his press conference.

PatrickBurgher, check title at the top of the page, mate, Liverpool Banter. If you want to start a Therapeutic Slot Support Group, I suggest creating a subreddit.

Fatwallet, he will no doubt say that PSG are "very, very good", that they are an "amazing, amazing team", he'll call them "unbelievable" and "incredible", and he'll do it through a s*** eating grin because he goes to bed every night wearing PSG pajamas.

07 Apr 2026 11:10:29
He'll keep harping on about xG and set pieces! That's all he ever does: how All teams outscore their xG against us!

07 Apr 2026 11:54:07
Reading these pages, most people's bingo card for reasons why this season is playing out the way is just a grid with every square that says "Slot's fault".

07 Apr 2026 12:13:42
XG, what the hell is all that about? They are trying to make football into a statistics game. Football is to enjoy and hope your team scores more than the other team. Football was great to watch until the 2000s. Now it is all forecast how many goals a team should score, how many offsides they will be caught from, how many corners. They have ruined the game of football, and this is all without talking about VAR.

Don't start me on that bloody mess. I dislike the so called elite football today, it is boring to watch. I watched West Ham v Leeds FA Cup game end to end like the old days, this is how football was supposed to be played, not fifty passes forward, 70 passes backwards. YNWA.

07 Apr 2026 12:18:02
That's because it's a fact, Faith. Anybody who can't see it has a serious lack of understanding for the technical side of the game.

07 Apr 2026 13:13:31
Pb, he is the manager / head coach, it obviously lands on his doorstep, as for the other 2, we want them all gone but they can hide behind the scenes, but Slot has to face the public.

07 Apr 2026 13:22:15
Albeydered, im with you on this XG nonsense.

07 Apr 2026 13:23:14
No, it isn't fact. He has his share of the blame, of course,

If your mind is made up that all the responsibility and blame for every single decision and outcome lies at the feet of the manager, then I really don't think you should be making comments about understanding anything technical to do with the game.

07 Apr 2026 13:51:13
Slot and the players have been embarrassing this season.

I don't care what Hughes and Edwards do off the field, as it should have zero effect on the field when the game kicks off, like they had zero influence on it last season when we won the league.

You can't sack the players but some will definitely be moved on in the summer, be it on frees or sold.

Slot should pay the ultimate price with his job as it's his role as manager (head coach) to get this team playing, and it's been nothing short of pathetic.

Last season I loved Slot's pressers but this season he's become a bluffer so he could likely come out with anything.

07 Apr 2026 15:20:35
ArneSlotsBarber, Albeydered & Strom, I agree, the whole XG stuff. Keep that whole nonsensical rubbish well away from me.

07 Apr 2026 15:22:34
Chewysuarez7, you wanna know something? "Du gachis" is a Bordeaux fan (he played there) who played at OM, both clubs are PSG's eternal rivals.

Hence, I doubt he wears a PSG top as his pyjamas every night.

Just saying.

To be fair what happens off the field has a huge impact on what happens off the field, if Slot was given his papers after PSV and Forest I think all of us could have accepted that decision and he couldn't really have any complaints, but they made the choice to stick with their man, and to be honest he did make things better in the short term without really showing that he had a long term vision.

Given that Edwards and Hughes are responsible for the long term vision, once they began looking at the numbers, shouldn't they have made a decision to go with somebody who could get us playing winning football in the long haul rather than just trying to scrap results game to game? I think we can all take losing games if we can see what we are trying to do game to game, but it seems like there's been so many different shapes and lineups- some have been forced by injury and fitness, sure- and then Slot starts inevitably playing midfielders as center halves and right backs etc. Some games we press and some games we don't, some games we try to play more direct and some games we don't, we've seen fleeting glimpses of our best formation and style with the 4-2-2-2 and the high press but we've played that way probably less than 5 games this season, so none of us can actually say what our style of play is.

Yes that is Slot's fault but if there are no signs that it is going to change any time soon, shouldn't Hughes and Edwards either have backed him in January by getting us some players that can give us more options to play the formation that Slot wants, or got rid of him after that disastrous run of results?

Another point about off the field stuff, it still bothers me that when Conor was being dragged off the field by Martinelli against Arsenal so few of his team mates came to his defense, I remember only Ibou came to give Martinelli a shove and a bollocking. Robbo, Hendo, Millie, these players would make sure standards were kept on and off the field and that we weren't taking any nonsense from the other team.

I'm not somebody advocating for tough guy 'get some balls' type stuff, but our team is meek, reserved, gets bullied and wilts under pressure, that starts from the culture in the dressing room. I'd like to have seen what happened if Ekitike did that shirt stunt that got him a red card in that Klopp team. (Incidentally, it was Fede who came out and said Ekitike was naive, let everybody down and had to improve after the game, it was also Fede who stopped Dom from haranguing the fans against City. Limited player maybe, but he is probably the most professional player in the entire squad).

To be fair what happens off the field has a huge impact on what happens off the field.

Cheers for that insight, Pat.

Lol, @JK23. See above.
