Well, tomorrow I'll be looking for a post from Carra. ?

08 Apr 2026 22:36:31
Didn't he say he's here until the season ends regardless.

08 Apr 2026 22:37:21
Allow me.

"Sorry lads, they're still not sacking him because they're more spineless than David Moores.

Ta."

Carra can't report a sacking that's not going to happen.

I'll be fuming if we sacked him now. What's the point?

No interim manager could sort this out now, it's far, far too late. Alonso couldn't turn this around. He wouldn't get top 5 or beat PSG, and be starting just to finish off a failure of a Slot season.

There was a time where this season could've been saved, but the people in charge rested on their laurels or simply bottled it.

Fingers must be pointed beyond Arne Slot now, Edwards and Hughes should be removed. Failure to do so, then fingers should be pointed towards FSG and they need to be forced out also.

LFC8, I think you know that's not going to happen. Just a simple matter of finding a buyer, and a seller willing to sell.

08 Apr 2026 22:55:39
Edwards was brought in to run the multi club model. FSG have abandoned that plan, so Edwards is costing us £10m in wages per season.

08 Apr 2026 22:56:29
I'm with you, LFC8. May as well stay on now, the season is done.

08 Apr 2026 23:21:38
LFC8, the point is that if we don't sack him we will not only lose our CL position and may not qualify for Europe at all. We're only 6 points ahead of Sunderland in 11th, and I don't see where the next win is coming from based on the football we've been serving up. With a couple of exceptions, we've steadily gotten worse over the course of the season.

Not sacking him before was a mistake, but there's no logic to *compounding* that mistake by continuing to leave him in charge.

It'd be like if you gambled away a half the money you had, you'd just set fire to the rest cos why not?

At least, with someone else, we have some chance of them lighting a fire up the backsides of the players and getting some bit of fight out of them until the end of season and getting a couple of results.
With Slot, I don't back us to beat any team right now.

08 Apr 2026 23:35:59
I think the man available, Steven Gerrard, wants the job fulltime and that's not a good idea for the long term. I cannot think of another short term caretaker. Who do you suggest?

08 Apr 2026 23:36:55
The only thing I can think of at this point is that we want Alonso but he can't take a job with another Champions League team whilst Real Madrid are still a possible opponent.

The powers that be can't be watching that tonight and thinking Slot is a good idea.

I've not been vocal at all against Slot although I do believe he should've gone after the PSV game. That being said he did win the league last season so had credit in the bank and had a very difficult summer.

That credit ran out a long time ago and now his position has become untenable. We need to see some improvement, a plan. Unfortunately, with each game that passes it becomes more and more apparent that he's not capable of turning this around and whatever plan he has isn't going to work.

08 Apr 2026 23:38:05
Agree with you, Something, he has to go, keeping him on is compounding failure, we can't afford to lose many more league games and I cannot see us winning any more games under Slot.

08 Apr 2026 23:57:47
Honestly, starseeker, almost anyone with half a clue available right now could do better than Slot in an interim.

I say that because it's become very toxic from the looks of it. The players don't want to play for Slot anymore. They probably haven't for a loooong time. Slot doesn't want to be there. The fans don't want him. The heads already have a plan (allegedly) to replace Slot at the end of the season.

So, I'd go as far as to say any of Stevie G, Maresca, Postecoglou, Rob Page (under 21s coach), or even bloody Sam Allardyce could do a job. Our players are good enough for top 5. We just need a change in management for the next few games. Someone with PL experience who can put a bit of fire back into this team, do a proper formation, play players in their right position, do proper substitutions.

Is that too much to ask?

09 Apr 2026 00:20:20
Sorry, I never thought it, but Rob Page is a good shout, but I am sure Edwards is not keen otherwise it would have been done months ago.

09 Apr 2026 03:21:33
LFC8, u nailed it. It's deeper than the unsackable one now. It's also well beyond incompetent; it's negligent at a minimum.

09 Apr 2026 06:06:22
I'm with you Greg. Any of those, or indeed any change would suggest those in charge give a damn. The fact nothing is happening to stop the fall suggests those above Slot know they are going and don't give a damn either.

Ed001- lots of talk about Edwards and Hughes, but it terms of the LFC management structure alone (separate to FSG) isn't Billy Hogan the top man? Surely he cannot be blind to what's happening? Is he too far removed or part of the problem do you think?

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that he is not really a football man and that means he defers to supposed football people, unfortunately Edwards and Hughes are as clueless as him in real terms. So when they are telling him it is just a blip, like Klopp's final season at Dortmund, he thinks they know better than him.}
