Is anyone feeling optimistic about next season? Or has any thoughts on what you think Liverpool will achieve?

I say this … as slot as manager cos there’s no evidence he’s going anywhere.

And

That we know Salah and Robertson probably Chiesa will go too … possibly Allisson or Macca but that’s speculation

So as the current squad stands plus any new additions.

29 Apr 2026 12:33:41
I'll make a bold prediction that come August the quad will be on.

29 Apr 2026 12:35:26
Moderately optimistic, it's clear the squad balance needs addressing, training and tactics need tweaking.
With the right signings and right approach, we could be very good. Isak should be 100% ready, depending on what happens at the World Cup, Wirtz is looking better and settled.

Having said that, if nothing changes in our approach to games, that optimism disappears very quickly.

29 Apr 2026 12:38:47
Depends who the manager is, but I do know if it's Slot then we just have to get used to this boring passive style of play, imo I think we need two powerhouse midfielders n a replacement for Salah, that's the priority for next season.

29 Apr 2026 12:47:44
Let's face it, it could go either way. On the one hand, Man U are at home. Having said that, Leeds got a result there the other week, so it's not impossible. Then again, they (Leeds) also beat us at home.

With Salah finally finding some form but getting injured, we are down on firepower. I think a draw would be the best we could hope for to be honest.

@Stromsgodset, Thanks for not ignoring the 300kg elephant in the room. If the manager is still here then, people should not be surprised with the amount of negativity or frustration going into next season. That's just what it is.

Why? Cos that is exactly the way I felt when BR was maintained in his position despite the blatant evidence that he was well and truly out of his depth from the season before.

As for players coming in, we need the midfield and the wide areas strengthened. In the CF position, we either sign a new CF? Or we convert Gakpo into a CF and sign another left winger to bolster that position along with Rio.

29 Apr 2026 13:26:02
Did we lose to Leeds?

29 Apr 2026 13:38:19
Not at all, I think we have the 3rd best squad in the league currently and once the aforementioned leave, with the replacements we're being linked with, we could have the 4th or 5th best squad.

I think we're currently a Champions League chasing side.

We really need a new manager and some clever additions, neither of which I'm confident will happen.

I've not felt this detached for a long time to be honest, we've been worse, obviously, but I just don't feel the connection to Slot or these players.

29 Apr 2026 13:58:23
I feel like next season, if things stay the same, we'll essentially be the new Arsenal, battling for 3rd place but falling well short of the leaders.

29 Apr 2026 14:00:58
With the club's PR department continuously telling us we are in transition and that the current coach will continue in the role, what data/evidence should we use to be positive?

Will we be fitter? Will Ruben Peeters change his fitness regime?
Will we play/press with more intensity? Will Slot compromise on the +1 he leaves at the back, leaving us with the hollow press we have?
Will we move the ball faster? Will we sign players that will inject speed into the passing?
Who will be our leaders? Robbo, Mo, and possibly Alisson leaving - who will step up?
Will we fix the holes in the squad? Previous seasons suggest we will gamble on leaving a couple of positions in the lap of the gods.

Don't see that changing.

Honestly, unless there's a change in the dugout, I expect 3rd to 5th place again next season.

29 Apr 2026 14:01:10
LFC supporters will be feeling the effects of last summer's Hughes generated madness for the next ten years.

29 Apr 2026 14:35:58
Good to see some posters are optimistic. Wish I could share the same sentiments.

Personally, I believe if Slot stays, it’ll be very much the same as this season.

Really hope I’m proven wrong, but I wouldn’t bet against it.

29 Apr 2026 14:38:49
It doesn't matter what players we sign, with Mr boring FC Slott as a tactician, we can't get excited about a game for another year.

8th next season for me, with a massive tinge of more injuries as an excuse and "rebuilding" as a cover up for the quote of being able to compete on all fronts for years to come.

It's just like the world at the moment, nobody cares what the average joe thinks as long as the billionaires get what they want.

Yes the fans hate the football we play, the fans hate that players want to leave suddenly and that we hate the ticket prices are going up but hey we get their money.

29 Apr 2026 14:59:52
Florian, we might as well have in both games. We bottled a 2-goal and then a one-goal lead to draw 3-3. What do you call that? A well-earned draw? Or did it feel like a loss under the above circumstances? With the way you have been shamelessly defending this manager, it is more the former than the latter, I reckon.

Then, we put out one of the most insipid displays this season vs them at Anfield where we were absolutely dreadful, scared out of our pants to lose and to crown it all, had Calvert-Lewin not been half a boot offside, we would have lost.

Another well-earned draw to add to the "greatest unbeaten run in history" that you were shamelessly bigging up during that period, btw.

29 Apr 2026 14:59:52
Don't Arsenal always come 2nd?

29 Apr 2026 15:34:18
Leeds have been on some form since about then, Oli. Play some lovely football. Think some1 was saying it's four defeats from their last 25 on the telly the other day.

29 Apr 2026 15:40:52
Surely there is a difference between feeling like a loss and actually losing? Or are we going to say that the team are so crap that the facts don't actually matter anymore? We've lost 17 games in all comps this season, how about I start stretching the truth and start slowly adding to the tally in acrimonious posts about the manager, tomorrow I'll start by throwing 18 out there, and I'll get to 21 by the end of the week.

Florian getting pelters and accused of being a tiresome Slot apologist for asking if we actually lost to Leeds this season, wow.

29 Apr 2026 16:21:14
To be fair to Florian, numbers aren't his strong point. He'll tell you Liverpool didn't spend £446 million last summer. So it wouldn't be hard to add a bit on.

29 Apr 2026 16:26:59
If Slot is still here, there's no reason to think the season will be any different.

He hasn't shown that he has the answers this season, and our purported targets in midfield aren't going to change anything.

It'll be the same dross as now. We'll still be unfit, we'll still be second best all over the pitch, we'll still be a soft touch in midfield, and we'll still be defensively all over the place, and Slot will still blame it on everything bar his insipid tactics.

He'll be sacked by November like Bodgers.

29 Apr 2026 16:34:10
Always optimistic.

Work to do, to get squad balance right and replace the experience we are about to lose.

29 Apr 2026 16:53:57
Always approach with optimism, otherwise what's the point? Although the current brand of football has been thoroughly depressing to watch.

29 Apr 2026 17:48:37
We all know what Liverpool spent last year, WD. What's your point though?

29 Apr 2026 17:55:49
Oli, if you remember, Rodgers' team lost 6-1 to Stoke, should have been sacked then but the owners/ppl in charge prolonged the agony for a few more months. Slot's team lost 3-0 Forest n 4-1 to that European powerhouse PSV n he should have been sacked then but again owners/ppl in charge prolonged the agony again, deja vu.

29 Apr 2026 18:01:53
You clearly don't, going by previous posts.

29 Apr 2026 18:36:11
Explain, WD.

29 Apr 2026 19:04:09
Florian, I always come second too.
