Looking at player stats, Mika Godts from Ajax is nearly identical to Yan Diomande. Has 17 goals, 14 assists in 41 games. Godts plays lw, but can play across the front three same as Diomande. Would be someone to go for as Ajax won't be getting Champions League.

Good, decent stats, but in better context, it's the Dutch farmer's league. Even Gakpo, Eric Meijer and Assaidi had good stats in the Dutch league. Not trying to knock you, and maybe this player could be good, but buyer beware from Dutch league would be my motto.
14 May 2026 22:15:08
They play in different leagues, so you aren't comparing apples with apples. And, who knows, if either can step up to the EPL.
14 May 2026 22:17:51
Suarez came from that farmers league.
For some of these discussions, the G/A are helpful, but it'd also be good to dive a bit deeper into stats like chance creation, dribbles, their physical stats.
Isak had amazing G/A in a non-farmers league and hasn't worked out so far.
14 May 2026 22:22:53
It's actually stats like progressive carries, dribbles, passing, assists, crosses. Stats the likes of Edwards would look at. I will put a picture up of it.
14 May 2026 22:52:13
You can hardly compare Isak as he's been injured most of the season, playing for a dumbbell of a manager.
14 May 2026 23:13:23
His highlight reel is well worth a watch.
15 May 2026 00:04:51
When people speak stat-related transfer strategy, I get flashbacks of Damien Comoli.
15 May 2026 01:06:59
Yeah, to my eye, he looks like a better prospect than Diomande.
Diomande looks a bit raw for me in terms of his control.
This kid has great close control. Both have pace, and both are strong on the ball.
Godts looks like he has better close control, and he looks like he has a better final ball.
15 May 2026 04:07:24
City will be all over Godts as they are looking to replace a few players this season. Barcelona are also in the mix as they need to replace a lot of their attacking players too.
If he moves it will be City.
Good player though, but Liverpool won't be able to realistically talk to players unless they clear up the matter about the manager.
15 May 2026 04:13:45
He reminds me of Kvaratsheila, although he will have to get past some better defenders if he joins the PL.

The situation surrounding our manager shouldn't affect recruitment. That'd be the main reason why we have this structure in the first place. Recruitment would go on regardless of who the manager is imo.
15 May 2026 07:16:09
Problem is, Drac, those responsible for recruitment are equally incompetent.
15 May 2026 07:21:55
It matters to incoming players who the manager is.
15 May 2026 07:33:01
Won't matter who is the manager. Isak is going to be injured anyway. We'll be lucky to get 30 games a season out of him. Should have bought Lauturo Martinez.
15 May 2026 08:21:57
Also, Diamonde, we won't be getting him. He is represented by Roc Nation, and guess who just announced their partnership with Roc Nation. So, well, there we go.
15 May 2026 08:42:20
Drac, I disagree. We did this with BR only for Klopp to come in and clean up his transfer mess that season with Benteke, for starters, in addition to the other duds BR signed even beforehand.
Also had Klopp not come in and revived Bobbie & Divock, Bobbie would have been out on loan to the Bundesliga and "Divvy" is literally not a thing.
Hence as much as what you say is correct cos clubs do it, these are the pitfalls you will face when you sign players "for the club" even tho, the current manager needs to get gone. At that point, you might as well get Iraola who wants nothing to do with transfers and just wants to coach the players he is given.
15 May 2026 10:13:41
I like Godts. I'd take him and Diomande, plus have Rio and sell Gakpo. The 3 young fellas can rotate for the 2 spots on the wings.

Not saying I agree with the system, Oli, but that is why we have Hughes as the sporting director and Slot is only the head coach. I believe the thinking behind it is that the club would decide the style of play, and the sporting director would get in the players and coaches that suit it the best. So, any changes in coaches would need to lead to an upheaval in the playing squad, like we saw with United.
That's in theory, however, but I am also of the opinion that it doesn't work in practice. It's still best to have a manager in place to have the final say on players.
To make it even worse, we have Hughes who has shown to be poor at recruitment, and we also have Edwards who has absolutely nothing to do in his current appointment, so is just meddling with Hughes.
On top of getting rid of Slot and bringing in a manager, we also need to review how we operate behind the scenes, and to start off, we should get rid of those two and get in one sporting director who knows what they're doing. Either Txiki or Rangnick would be great for us imo.
15 May 2026 10:34:11
@Cafu, what problem do Liverpool have with a Head Coach? If there was an issue from the club's perspective, he would have been gone. Saying we won't discuss transfers or speaking with players' agents won't be the case.
15 May 2026 10:57:43
I fully agree with everything you have said, Drac. Cheers, man.
15 May 2026 14:15:52
A new player joining to move up in their career won't join a club where the manager has everyone calling him out. That's not an environment any young player wants.
Nor would they want to join without clarity on who the next manager is.
Liverpool has huge pull but the days of players playing for a club are long gone.
