Standard Chartered getting rid of 15% of back office personnel by 2030. Basically replacing people with AI.
That’s fair enough and is a business decision, but they also referred to those staff as “lower-value human capital”.
Another reason we need to get shot of them. Can you think of something more at odds with what this club should stand for?

As someone who has worked in accounting, that's just accounting terminology. More skilled labour adds more value to the company, and this information is relevant for the financial statements. Don't get offended by it.
If anything, you should be more offended by the real world consequences of the 15% losing their jobs instead of the semantics of the technical terminology.

Well they've been accused of funding Terrorist groups in 2024 plus are complicit in Israel's genocide of Gaza. But also as have other Prem sponsors. Not just ours. Not that that makes it right. Liverpool's shirt sponsor, Standard Chartered, provided $15.4bn (£11.5bn) to 24 complicit businesses between January and August 2025.

I can think of a thousand businesses that will be replacing people with AI in the not too distant future. It will be so prevalent, that in order to hold a high moral standard, we will have to go back to the days when the likes of 'Joe's chippy' will be our sponsor.
Best thing for all of us to do, is reject everything AI. Don't use it for anything, even a web search. Easier said than done in this day and age.
