Evening all.

Wondering on thoughts about how Iraola can get the best out of Frimpong and where that might be on the pitch? It wasn't the best season for him at all, but Iraola is one who knows how to get the best out of players.

Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - i like Iraola Taurus, but i dont think even he can make a silk purse out of that pigs ear mate..

Sell him and hopefully make a profit that's the best he can get out of him.

The manner in which he laughs all the time in training seems to me he's more suitable for a "Monty Python" best eleven.

He's just not very good at defending or attacking, sadly. Mostly relies on speed.

My guess is he'll be used as a utility player coming off the bench in the league at RB and RW, but mostly RB probably till Bradley is fit again.

I'd say Iraola will use a new player we're signing as his main RB in the league, and Frimpong will start in early cup games.

He probably gets sold at the end of the season if Bradley and the new RB remain fit.

Pace on the flanks seems more of an Iraola thing than a Slot thing, so I'm guessing he's going to get more a tune out of him than Slot will.

Difficult to see where he fits in, not a right back or winger. With a manager that plays a back 4, it may be hard for him to start in the first 11.

But, with Iraola in charge, he will adapt and bring out the best in his players.

I'm not optimistic myself Ed025, but have seen stranger things happen.

28 Jul 2026 23:12:21
In his defence, he seems like a very likeable lad and good to have around the place, especially after losing a similar character in Robbo. That being said, Robbo was lightyears ahead of him and he's an expensive lad to have around just for the craic.

I wouldn't completely rule him out from improving, and he certainly has pace to trouble defenses, especially in a fast transition team.

I think Slot's football killed him last season, so he gets a clean slate from me. I don't think he's the answer at right full, as I'm not convinced he's a good enough defender, but not a bad impact sub coming on late against tired legs.

Hopefully he can kick on, who knows what Iraola can get out of him.

At worst a good squad player. People are forgetting how woeful Slot was, and certain players on here catch flack more than others. If Gakpo is being forgiven for last season, or Macca, then Frimpong should be too.

I don't think the squad's as dire as most seem to believe, but I do think Slot is a horrific manager.

Give them next season before you start slagging them all, especially the newer signings.

28 Jul 2026 23:58:41
Useless, move him on asap.

@Gregarioue, "He's not very good at attacking or defending, sadly. Mostly relies on speed." You stole that one, didn't you? It sums up Darwin Nunez before Frimpers ever got here.

29 Jul 2026 02:25:14
Frimpong will thrive under Iraola. Assuming injury, I think he will start the majority of games at RB this season.

29 Jul 2026 07:15:05
Attacks better than most full backs but defends worse. Attacks worse than most wingers but defends better.

He's a wingback for a 3 man defence tactic.

29 Jul 2026 09:04:16
What about looking at Slot's seasons, other than the last one, before describing him as 'a horrific manager', sailor?

007, Are you the laughing police now?
