If you could make one "sensible" signing for Liverpool right now, who would it be?
For example, I think resigning Neco Williams from Nottingham Forest would be a sensible signing because he's Academy trained, covers LB and RB and relatively speaking wouldn't be too expensive.

If we could sign anyone then it would have to be Pau Cubarsi. He looks so good and only 19.

29 Jul 2026 12:19:23
I think Acheampong might be a sensible buy.

29 Jul 2026 12:27:05
Kounde/Tomori covers both RB and CB.

29 Jul 2026 12:27:10
Lamine Camara. Be about EUR40-50m, I suspect, and he is the exact profile of a player our midfield roster is lacking.

29 Jul 2026 12:32:58
Khelleher would be a good buy back as Alisson will only be here another season I'd say.

29 Jul 2026 12:51:54
Didn't put a buy back in. They'd charge us a premium. Bad business all round from the brain trust.

29 Jul 2026 13:02:35
I always thought Kelleher was an excellent understudy, but we should be looking at better when Alisson moves on.

29 Jul 2026 13:24:06
Following Chelsea's lead - James Milner.
Covers LB, RB, CM, LW, RW, CF.

29 Jul 2026 13:29:18
Define sensible?

Most impactful would probably be Caicedo (I hate to still be saying this 3 years later).

Freebie - I think they have all been taken. Perhaps Senesi was the one. But he would only be a backup anyway.

One year left - not great choices, to be honest.

Fabian Ruiz would be better than Macca for sure. Ayari and Mayulu would be opportunities, but not massively impactful for the first team.

If you are looking to get maximum value out of, say, 50m, then Lamine Camara would be an impactful addition.

@FlyPelicanFly,
I'd define sensible as cost effectiveness of the transfer/contract, versatility and availability of the player, and the impact they could make. Being homegrown would be an added benefit but not essential.

29 Jul 2026 13:49:54
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia would be my choice.
(Whether that's deemed sensible or not is open to conjecture!)

29 Jul 2026 14:01:12
I agree with FPF,

Senesi for free played under AI last year, and Kerkez in the past knows the manager's tactics, and is left footed as well, just turned 29, so experienced, which is a strong attribute as a defender, ideal cover.

Alonso is going for Welbeck to be his Divock Origi, Henderson as he was the first LFC captain to lift the Premier League, on the basis that he knows the PL inside out? Two Wily Signings, I would concur, good business if he lands both? Experience is nearly everything in football?

29 Jul 2026 14:16:17
I'll go with Lewis Skelly. Can cover LB and a very decent midfielder.

29 Jul 2026 14:39:26
What MKS and Rome said.

29 Jul 2026 14:43:12
I'll go with Jordan Henderson so that he could be Captain Sensible.

29 Jul 2026 15:19:58
James Milner - probably the most sensible player we've had.

29 Jul 2026 17:27:08
John Wick, hard as f***, high brid of Tommy Smith, Stevie G, and Craig Bellamy, he'd sort out midfield out no danger.

29 Jul 2026 17:39:40
I think the biggest impact to our team could be had with a defensive midfielder.
Sensible based on availability, cost etc? I'd love Sidike.
Alternatively, potentially sensible but also risky, Yves Bissouma is available for free.

29, free agent, very highly sought after before his nightmare at Spurs. Risky, as I say, but if you got him replicating his previous form and dropped the apparent attitude issues that'd be an absolute steal.

B. Kamara or N. Sadiki.
