Isak is not the one for me, I hear we enquired and he said he would be interested but wouldn’t force a move. He is injury prone and his training and full game fitness has to be carefully managed, for the fee it’s a no from me, great player but the risk versus the cost is not good and if it was my own line of business this would be rejected through risk profile.
The more I think about it, I would personally let Diaz go, we want at least £65m for him, and we take one of the Barcelona players plus cash in exchange. Lopes, Olmo, Araujo, would all work for me.
10 Jul 2025 07:32:31
Regarding the above, interesting let Diaz go to Barca, but choose either 2 CM and an injury prone defender Araujo.
Nope, Casado at Dcm is the shout to play along Grav or in place of re rotation.
Torres hardly plays unless he had to cover either LW or fake no9, I’m not impressed with him, his LW time is also effected if Balde plays LB.
10 Jul 2025 08:12:31
I wouldn’t want any of those players in exchange shughes, Olmo and Araujo have horrendous injury histories, as for Fermin Lopez, he’s a fairly ordinary run of the mill attacking midfielder, nothing particularly special and we’re well stocked for players in his position. If Barcelona want Diaz they can either pay the fee or they can spend a season enjoying the comedy football stylings of the very washed up Marcus Rashford.
10 Jul 2025 08:52:01
If Diaz goes we want cold hard cash. We don't want to settle for random players because they make the deal easier. Use the cash to go out and sign replacements that we actually want such as Fofana.
If they can't pay the cash, we keep him.
10 Jul 2025 09:38:05
Agree with shughes isak has to be game managed and salah doesn’t do as much defensive, that gives us less press up front, just seems it wouldn’t be worth the price, this is imo.
10 Jul 2025 09:54:40
I have to disagree. Isak is world class and the best striker in the prem. He has proven that he will be a success and yes we would have to manage his fitness but we would have other strikers/ players that would easily step in. The money side of things don’t really worry me, if we have the money then go get him if we don’t then yes move on.
10 Jul 2025 10:56:39
There is a certain irony about complaining about Isak’s injury issues and then citing that you’d be happy to sign Olmo and Araujo who have both got far worse injury records and make Isak look like Mo Salah by comparison.
10 Jul 2025 11:07:54
I would say if the nerds think Isak is the one, then I would trust them. I doubt they would want to bring him in if they felt they couldn't trust his availability or ability to deliver the numbers for us.
The Alvarez options seems to be gone. Not sure if that was ever there unless Darwin played a part in it.
I think Ekitike is a good choice if Isak is not possible. It comes with risk, but that will be the case with all of the others.
If Newcastle are given a free run at Ekitike, then it does feel like Isak to LFC becomes more likely. If the relationship between Howe, Hughes and Edwards is at it is reported, then you wonder whether there's some careful coordination between the two clubs to manage optics and fees. But this is Eddie Howe we're talking about. Not sure he plays at that level.
10 Jul 2025 11:34:45
Renew Diaz contract and play him as number 9. Overall less hassle as he knows the system, we do not spend huge sum on new striker and this does not disturb the composition of the team.
We will be buying time in search of a striker.
Worst case scenario, get Mateta from Palace. Good player and can score goals.
10 Jul 2025 11:35:27
Didn’t we just drop a club record fee on Wirtz who also had a very bad injury. trust the people running the club. beggars belief that we are still here calling them out afyer winning the champions league and prem twice with them at the helm. honestly.
10 Jul 2025 11:43:30
once players are moved we will make an absolute push for another big signing
But we have to sell players to raise the funds and players are available if the right offer comes in namely nunez diaz elliott and morton.
But i still believe there is a signing in the ranks we have no idea about - can't shake it, we talked about a few players in early June and i feel like something will come of that.
10 Jul 2025 11:47:38
We have just won the league and therefore our players are very good, Diaz including.
Why are people so keen to sell our top class players and replace them with lesser ones?
Why don’t we give our own players the respect they deserve?
Diaz was our second top goal scorer last season. He’s premier league experienced and is one of the best ball carriers in the league.
Bayern want him. Barcelona want him. What does that tell you?
10 Jul 2025 11:54:03
Olmo?
Did we not just buy Wirtz?
10 Jul 2025 12:29:32
Akira - I posted the other day asking about Yildiz. I think he is a brilliant young talent and would be the perfect replacement for Diaz if he left. Is he one of the players we have spoken to in recent months?
10 Jul 2025 12:33:51
Navy, I think much of the tension is related to the fact that we have contract standoffs on Ibou and Diaz alongside the likely departure of Darwin and probable departure of Chiesa. That sets off a lot more speculation than a typical one in and one out summer.
In an ideal world, there would be no contract issue and we wouldn't be talking about as much transfer activity.
I don't think anyone is underplaying what the group achieved last year.
10 Jul 2025 14:16:48
I was hoping that after Keita and Thiago the days of signing sick-notes with the hope of rehabilitating them were over. If Isak needs to be ‘game-managed’ surely he should come with a 50% discount or not come at all.
10 Jul 2025 14:50:11
Isak missed 4 games with groin injury, 5 with hamstring and in 24/ 25 season and a broken toe which I don’t think you could call that injury prone.
10 Jul 2025 14:52:25
Yildiz is difficult as player is not looking for a epl move and juve are keen to extend his contract till 2030. Juve will also match his 150k wage demand. He wants a move to Barcelona and may well get it in a year or two.
So, only hope is he doesn't extend and juve are forced to sell and Barcelona don't come for him.
10 Jul 2025 15:15:11
Akira, who do you see as most likely to replace Diaz, should he be sold, Fofana, Gordon or Rodrygo?
10 Jul 2025 16:18:08
LFC were not looking to replace diaz but due to unfortunate event (RIP jota) we might be forced. Liverpool are trying hard to keep diaz but it seems player has his mind set on moving.
Liverpool ready to offer new deal but player has to commit. Unfortunately LFC had made diaz available before jota incident and you cannot blame diaz looking to leave as player was made available.
Liverpool are very interested and are big admirers of ben segir for that left wing. Player has not signed new contract with monaco.
10 Jul 2025 16:51:20
He looks good on YT! Thanks for the update.
10 Jul 2025 17:09:15
Akira. Cheers for the response. Much appreciated mate.
10 Jul 2025 17:14:13
Ben seghir is an excellent player, he probably has the capacity to reach the same levels as Doue.
10 Jul 2025 18:01:25
With isak it’s not the injuries but his being game managed and the lack of press
With salah and isak not going full pelt pressing it weakens the team
Again imo.
10 Jul 2025 18:35:44
Would Ben Segir cost less than Gordon and Rodrygo?
10 Jul 2025 18:47:22
Thing is Fatwallet, if you’ve got two players up top who are sticking away 25 goals a season each, then the other 8 can pick up the slack in grafting.
10 Jul 2025 20:14:39
I still think it wouldn’t be ideal imo viktor.
10 Jul 2025 23:49:01
Longthing76, its one thing to state how many games Isak missed through injury but you need to add in how many games he was subbed early to ‘manage’ his game time. If he can’t be relied on for more than 60 minutes per game, he’s not worth 150m in my opinion.
