Hello all,

We may fast track our interest in Givairo Read. Not a 100% on this, more of a hunch from someone.

Diomande and his agent doing their upmost to secure a move to LFC this winter.

The money is above and beyond what we are willing to spend. Tough deal but not impossible, we could add Harvey Elliott into the deal a a summer deal.

Guehi really wants LFC move as did Semenyo but we are guilty of faffing about far too much right now.

Diego Lopez looked at but interest seems to have cooled.

Ta.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

Cheers Carra. Why in your opinion does Hughes always faff about and make hard work of transfers for players who seemingly want to join us?
And what does Edwards and the owners make of it?

11 Jan 2026 17:26:18
Thanks for this update mate.
Was hoping to hear from you!

Hope you are enjoying the Bahamas.
Enjoy!

11 Jan 2026 17:33:11
Cheers Carra, the "faffing about" is a big concern.

11 Jan 2026 17:35:25
Cheers Carra.

RBL have shown interest in Elliott before so there might be weight in any Diomande conversation.

Guehi saga is mind numbing.

11 Jan 2026 17:36:29
Thanks Carra

Welcome back.
Hope you enjoyed the break.

11 Jan 2026 17:42:09
Cheers Carra for the update. Do you think Guehi will happen in the summer?

11 Jan 2026 17:53:27
Cheers, reading that read is also a Liverpool fan.

11 Jan 2026 17:54:09
Thanks Carra. Love your posts mate.

11 Jan 2026 18:01:56
Thanks for the update Carra, looking at the squad and injuries currently we look threadbare! Can you actually see us bringing anybody in or looking more likely to wait till the summer? Would be criminal not to strengthen or bring anyone in an cover now.

Thanks.

11 Jan 2026 18:10:55
On the faffing around. Is it with the price or is Guehi no longer seen as priority target?

On Diomande. Looks like he could be something special but can't see why we past out on a similiar profile at a much lower pricd and premier league experienced. Im just halpy we are a least looking at a dribbler. However, despite all the rumours of unrest i still kinda trust the suits. for now.

11 Jan 2026 18:15:50
Carra are you referring to Diomande the centre back from sporting or the winger from Leipzig? I assume the winger as Leipzig have shown an interest in Elliot before? Cheers for the info as always.

11 Jan 2026 18:16:59
Thanks Carra. Great information as usual.

11 Jan 2026 18:28:09
Hi Carra hope the holidays going well. I like Read is a very promising RB. I read Leipzig want £80m+ for Diomande. Surely we can tell Guehi to just wait until the summer we want him badly.

11 Jan 2026 18:30:55
Did we bid for Semenyo Carra? as in less than the release clause or something?

11 Jan 2026 18:39:47
Thanks Carra.

11 Jan 2026 19:05:47
Thanks Carra, hope you're have a good break.

11 Jan 2026 20:07:54
Cheers Carra, wasn't expecting to hear from you yet as I thought you'd be basking in the sun drinking cocktails.

Fingers crossed we can get Guehi another CB and add Diomande. IF there's less faffing!

Enjoy the rest of your holiday ??.

11 Jan 2026 22:13:44
Cheers Carra.

11 Jan 2026 22:31:13
Thanks Carra.

Hughes was over paying earlier in the year and making it so easy for anyone to join us, now he's faffing about and getting tighter with the offers or dithering apparently. I wonder how anyone knows this stuff, and what the real market value is for many of these players or the mechanics of transfers with so many vested interests.

Looking at the transfer business over a number of years at the higher end of the market very view turn out to be good value. For every VVD there's a Nicolas Pepe, or for Mane see Marmoush. Arguably only City and us have got much return in terms of trophies, Arsenal probably this year. Beyond that most clubs have been rinsed.

12 Jan 2026 09:08:50
Cheers Carra. Hope Hughes stops all this indecisiveness and brings in Guehi this transfer window.

If he signs, then of course I'll support him. However, signing Read would reflect very badly on Slot in my opinion. We literally have Calvin Ramsay who is 22 years old and played very well in the only chance Slot gave him vs Palace. He's been excelling for the u21's as well and he finally seems to be over his injury woes. Not to mention Frimpong who we literally just spent £30m on. Gomez also comes on at RB for Slot all the time. Is Slot a chequebook manager? Any danger of him coaching his way out of a minor injury problem by using the squad/ academy? We literally still have 2 RB's available, and Gomez who is a better RB than he is a CB.

So why on earth would we go sign an unproven 19 year old for relatively big money (20-25m you'd expect) who's missed half this season with a hamstring injury? Maybe he's a really special talent, I can't say I've ever seen him play off the top of my head to judge him. On paper though, it seems absolutely ridiculous to even be interested in a crocked RB (he went off injured yesterday in the first game back since his hamstring injury) when we already have Bradley, Frimpong, Gomez and Ramsay. Bradley is only out for this season, so what happens when he returns and we then have 5 RB's options all wanting gametime going into next season?

Utterly ridiculous. We need a CB to replace Konate (leaving in 6 months) and a winger to replace Diaz (left 6 months ago). Hughes needs to stop faffing about and go and sign the players we blatantly need, and whilst he's at it he can tell Slot to use the multitude of options he already has at RB instead of putting Dom or Jones there again.

MK - Slot does not decide on recruitment issues. It does not reflect on the Head coach one iota. It's reflects on Hughes/ Edwards.

12 Jan 2026 11:53:34
MK i don't expect Gomez or Ramsey to be here next season. I love Bradley but proven to be prone to injuries so far in his career. Frimpong has looked great since coming back but higher up the pitch.

I do agree on Reid though and Carra said it was more of a hunch. Id rather an Arsneal type hybrid fullback/ centre back if we went into the market. i've no doubt Guehi can do it btw.

12 Jan 2026 12:09:52
He is injured.

12 Jan 2026 12:56:11
Ron Keague, I was under the impression that the head coach tells the Sporting Director what position/ profile of player they want, and then the Sporting Director picks the player based on the advise of the scouts.

If it is indeed Hughes deciding what we need then yes, that reflects very poorly on him more so than Slot. Whatever the structure, it's shocking if we sign a RB this January unless it is a short term loan to cover the injury to Bradley. You don't make permanent transfers to replace injured players. That's utterly ridiculous.

12 Jan 2026 14:11:30
MK - totally agree about signing players to replace injuries. It's a ridiculous way of recruiting.

That's what I understand about the Head coach. It's the model Edwards prefers. Preferable to having a strong manager, like Klopp, who was able to oust Edwards.

I hope there is a full board level review at the end of the season into all football operations.
If Slot goes then I'd argue the whole model needs assessing. Edwards/ Hughes have too much power for basically "hyped up scouts".

12 Jan 2026 14:22:05
MK if that was the case we wouldn't of ended up with Chiesa or Wirtz for that matter. He didn't want Chiesa full stop and Wirtz was not the type of winger he wanted to replace Diaz. Not saying he didn't want Wirtz btw.

Nice one Carra.
