If Arne Slot remains in charge, he plans to overhaul some parts of his coaching staff and significantly adapt his training methods.
John Heitinga is keen to return to the club as part of the potential new setup. Arne Slot would also look at potential adding a Set Piece Coach.
28 Apr 2026 11:11:17
Perhaps Sean O'Driscoll is available.
They have been looking for a set piece coach, on/off, for almost two years.
28 Apr 2026 11:43:46
So the players will only get 3 days off instead of 4 then.
28 Apr 2026 11:56:08
Does he plan to obsess over Arsenal and their set pieces instead of PSG?
28 Apr 2026 12:27:44
Personally speaking, and possibly some other posters, are waiting for Carra's latest post to clarify if there is any change to the situation regarding Slot and a new coach.
28 Apr 2026 12:28:25
If Arne Slot stays, the season is over already.
28 Apr 2026 12:48:07
You're probably right FC8 mate.
28 Apr 2026 13:09:09
If he does stay, it wouldn't surprise me if the Anfield faithful let the stat suits know how poorly received it is.
Can't imagine, with a new season starting, the Kop accepting more of the same drab nonsense we are witnessing...
Tactics are just the tip of the iceberg. He literally has to do exactly the opposite of what he has done since he arrived... which is about as likely as Gerrard getting offered the United job.
28 Apr 2026 13:16:38
He had the end of last season and all this season to 'overhaul some parts of his coaching staff and significantly adapt his training methods'. He's shown he is incapable of getting this team to challenge for the PL.

Feels like we've been here before with Brendan Rodgers. The club let Colin Pascoe go if I remember correctly. A few months later, BR was gone after the derby.
I can thank Slot for his efforts, the title win and even getting a CL spot if we get there (Houllier managed that before his time ended at Liverpool, the following season, unbelievably we won it).
But I think parting ways is best for all in my opinion.

Most of our defeats have come when playing 3 games a week, or in 6 days. How can he be giving them 4 days off between games? Toxic pathetic post. But, hey, why let the facts get in the way of hate. It's not Slot's fault. He has had a pre season when everybody was dealing with grief. It wasn't his fault Guehi or a winger to replace Diaz wasn't bought in. It wasn't his fault Isak broke his leg after recovering from a groin strain, Ekitiki Lioni and Bradley have serious knee injuries while playing a match. Not his fault Salah has dropped off in the scoring goals. Not his fault Alison has missed half a season. I am not defending the style of football and be quite happy if they replace him.
But I hate the abuse he is getting for things out of his control. No one wins trophies under the circumstances. Injuries, squad depth. I keep repeating myself, but half of you would have wanted Bob Paisley sacked back in the day. In his early days as manager we played alehouse football, kicking it back to the keeper, counter attacks, long ball sh***. Tosh heading it down for Keegan to pick up the scraps. In the end he built his own team and we saw the best LFC team ever. I used to love this site, but where did the toxicity come from. Have a nice day.

I hope that was written with Comedy in mind lol.
The ONLY reasons we've underperformed this season are the Slot set up, the lack of fitness and the refusal to get closer to the city and the club.
The man needs to go. It's turning into the last days of Erik Ten Blag with the ridiculous press conferences.
If we'd had even a slight improvement in play I could see why, but it's been awful and to buy Isak and Wirtz and not know how to get the best from them is shameful when everyone else can see the system doesn't suit either.
I still maintain a change before the CL got serious and before the league got too far away would have seen a better outcome.
The club have been negligent on that score in my eyes. Anyone see Utds improvement or how different Chelsea were in the cup semi? We needed that change and bounce after Forest at home.
Personally I'm ready for change.

Well said, Comedy Gold.
The football this season has been poor, but context is important. The style of football played last year wasn't great, but we won the league. The new signings indicate the intention was to modify the style of play, but for the reasons CG has stated... things have not worked out.
I will judge Slot this time next season if he stays. If we end up where we are now, then I agree he needs to move on. Judging him on the outcome of such a disrupted year is not the Liverpool way.
From what I have read and heard, the reason he got the job is because he was and still is regarded as one of the best coaches around. Not as good as Klopp, not as good as Pep, and not as good as Enrique. I think Iraola is better than Slot, based on what he has done with Bournemouth, but he had a terrible start in his first season and this season, so maybe he isn't the upgrade we need.
The next move is to improve the quality of the team around Slot. That seems to be the plan.

Giving Edwards absolute power without a figurehead like Jurgen was always going to be a bit of an unknown quantity.
Edwards' vision for the side is just that, but is it suitable to LFC?
We can support one non-tracking forward, so Isak or Eki, but not two, in my opinion.
Neither of the full backs have been consistent, Fede doesn't get used, and Leoni was injured early on, so, Wirtz aside, we really have not seen the fruits of the big window as yet.
This rests firmly on one man's shoulders.
Ian Graham was a big part of the success during the Klopp years, and Edwards has never been given this much power before.
What comes next could make or break us for the next decade, in my opinion.
28 Apr 2026 16:45:27
If Arne Slot plans to remain in charge, I plan to stop watching football; enough said!
28 Apr 2026 17:18:02
If Slot stays, we will risk a decade in the midtable wilderness or worse. Slot's set up is revelation fodder in this league, and only the individual brilliance of the players and a terrible league this year have us where we are.
Another season of Slot, which I won't subject myself to watching, and you start to have trouble recruiting players and the results start to get worse. If he stays, the club is in serious decline.

Jari
I thought he got the job because he played a very similar way to Klopp and wouldn't need to invest huge money in the squad last year .. it's chalk and cheese isn't it ...
From Feb last year, he has been nothing short of a liability and we have regressed in every aspect of our game .. that's just on the pitch .. let alone what goes on or doesn't off it each week...
I have issues with everything else he does too, or lack of .. what does Slot do well? ... mmmmmhhh good question. .. what does Slot need to improve on .. and that's a very long list
If there were signs of something positive, then yeh ..
let's give him some time .. but we are declining week by week.
A pre season with this loon in charge will have us jogging round Stanley Park for an hour .. that'll do boys .. let's not break a sweat .. let's control the sweat and heart rate .. best we go for a walk ....
How many times this season have we watched a game and thought .. wow, he got the tactics, set up and everything spot on this game ? .. 5 .. maybe 6?? Over the course of 60 games .. that to me screams more of luck than any planning.
28 Apr 2026 18:03:28
He's already had 6 months to "overhaul".
28 Apr 2026 19:04:42
Look at the reality of the situation, if Slot stays and has another season of transition, we will be saying by November he has to go and he will certainly walk or be gone by this time next year. Missing out on Alonso now and not cutting our losses on Slot will be a price that's more than likely to cost us highly.
I do not know what stats they are looking at from this season from Slot that leads them to think he deserves a chance. Keeping him now will be a price we will be paying for at least 3 or more years. Would rather give Alonso or someone else a chance rather than Slot. A change is as good a rest.

Seriously, if you couldn't see my post as a joke, I'd consider changing your name.

"If Arne Slot remains in charge, he plans to overhaul some parts of his coaching staff and significantly adapt his training methods."
And what has he been doing all season long?
