Ed01, I'm sorry if you have been asked this a lot but do you genuinely believe we are going to give Slot another season? And if so, is there something weird going on behind the scenes which makes them unable to see what any normal person watching the matches can see? He is going to run out of excuses eventually.

For me the whole team has under performed this season and the blame lies with one person. The head coach

{Ed001's Note - they did the same with Klopp when results dipped, I just hope he is as unhappy in England as I am being led to believe and wants to leave in the summer anyway like I am told.}

04 May 2026 12:39:15
Slot's training setup suits his needs to travel. He claims it's all to do with his preferred playing style.

04 May 2026 12:40:59
They didn't hesitate to sack Daglish.

04 May 2026 12:45:35
Virgil basically admitted that they won't train this week - he said they played yesterday, so rest today. They have a couple of days with family, and go to a hotel Friday ahead of the Chelsea game.

04 May 2026 12:04:18
Ed001 - who would your choice be of the available managers, factoring in that Enrique is probably unattainable at the moment?

{Ed001's Note - if not Enrique, I would choose Iraola, with Hoeness as the back up option. Xabi would be the next choice for me.}

04 May 2026 12:09:25
Ed1

Do you think the club are just putting on a front then.? As we historically stand by managers.

So they know Slot wants out so instead of sacking a title winning manager. I'm guessing would be the first in our history. just let him go at end of season. on his terms so to speak and can spout all the we tried our best to keep him media nonsense.

The longer it goes on. I actually think Iraola is going to be the man we go to. just a gut feeling.

Thanks for all the hard work you guys are doing. these boards must be hotter than a hot thing right now.

{Ed001's Note - that is what I am told is happening, but it is hard to know for sure as there seem to be a lot of things being leaked deliberately to obfuscate things.}

04 May 2026 12:23:40
I hope so too ED01. They must surely see the difference between the two situations of Klopp and Slot as well. It's like chalk and cheese. The 2 people and the unity within the Club are polar opposites. Surely they'll make the only decision available if Slot decides to fulfill his remaining year?!? I for one hope to God that decision is taken away from him.

04 May 2026 12:51:49
I'm not Slot's biggest fan but posters are just making stuff up at this point to paint him in a bad light. Copied from the BBC:

Van Dijk was also asked about the perception aired on social media that Liverpool's training schedule has been light. He defended the suggestion that his side have had too many days off.
The players had one day off in the week leading up to the Manchester United game and are scheduled to have one day off this week before they play Chelsea on Saturday.
When it was put to Van Dijk that some of his team-mates went on holiday last week, the Liverpool defender said: "I'm not sure it's a holiday.

It's a city trip. But I think if you have one day off, and you don't have many days off, they decide what they want to do with their families. We are not kids. Everyone is an adult."
"I wish we had a couple more days off at times because I think it works both ways. You see Pep Guardiola giving [Manchester] City three days off the last weeks in a row and they are doing pretty well. It is finding the right balance.

04 May 2026 12:43:49
Ed, his behaviour does suggest that he wants to leave in the summer. Like you've reiterated, he's taken every opportunity to head back to Holland throughout the season. We can't afford to have a part-time manager.

It feels like managing Liverpool is an inconvenience to him and his family life. It's been tough to go from someone like Klopp who embraced the city, to someone who hasn't even been able to settle. The players must also sense it.

{Ed001's Note - it is not that he hasn't been able to settle, it is that he has never even tried.}

04 May 2026 13:42:12
The big differences are that the performances weren't consistently bad under Klopp, Klopp had a lot more credit in the bank, and Klopp didn't spend £450 million in one window.

04 May 2026 13:53:08
Aspas
Whatever is wrong with LFC, it's unhelpful to make things up. VVD said they had one day off last week and will this week. If you know anything about elite training programs, you will know that in peak performance recovery is the most important element.

A day off is normal and required. So why claim the players have had 3/4 days off. For the record, the players don't stay in a hotel the night before a home game.

04 May 2026 14:14:48
The issue of choosing the next manager has an element of power attached to it.
The side is being built in Edwards' vision, with Isak, his dream signing, and so any manager that comes in needs to share that vision, to a certain extent.
Alonso would want much more say over who comes in than, say, Iraola.

The issue is that both Edwards and Hughes will leave at the expiration of their current contracts.
The quandary is clear. Why build something in Edwards' mould if he's only going to oversee another year of it?
The issues of ego and power dynamics are far more central than they should be.

04 May 2026 14:19:46
Let's be honest, Klopp had a couple of dips, and I say dips mildly. One run when we lost like six in a row was terrible, but we didn't condemn them through lack of trying or endeavour. We are night and day with Slot, because even when we win it feels laboured.

04 May 2026 14:24:38
Frode Kippers, that run was also during Covid times in front of empty stands. Klopp was a master orchestrator of the crowd and it really did make a difference.

04 May 2026 13:42:19
That's the problem Ed and surely that must point to him leaving in the summer. I can't see the point in staying and if the rumours are true Cruyff wants him at Ajax.

{Ed001's Note - ?

04 May 2026 14:17:19
Ed, didn't the higher ups know this about Slot before? That he didn't or wouldn't settle here?

For all the due diligence we are being led to believe the club do, surely they would have known or accepted that he would be doing this?

{Ed001's Note - they knew his family would stay behind and that he refused to live in Liverpool, for me that would have been a deal breaker but Edwards and Hughes are absolute cretins.}

04 May 2026 14:20:31
Ed, just out of curiosity, may I ask why you put Alonso in 3rd in your list? I'm guessing you see strengths and weaknesses of all three.

{Ed001's Note - I love Iraola as a manager and the footie he plays. I love Hoeness's style of footie too. Alonso I am not sure about as he changes it. He has taken charge of 3 different teams and played different set ups with each. I am not sure what his identity is or what he would do with our team.}

04 May 2026 15:00:35
Jari, & anyone else @ing me, here's the quote

"[On Saturday ahead of United] we were in a hotel. Then we played. So two days away with the family again. Friday we are in a hotel, Saturday we play.

It's not that we have a holiday whatsoever."

You'd assume active recovery / rest today. Then two days away with family again, per the above. Then a hotel on Friday (before a home game) haha. How's that made up?

04 May 2026 15:15:03
Darwin, what do you expect Virg to say? "We're not training enough, we're taking too many days off, I don't agree with the coaching programme"? Seriously, what do you expect? These are professionals; they're not just going to start complaining about their colleagues to the press, that's not how it works. They're all employed by the club and are expected to keep up an image and support each other.

The fact that he said "I wouldn't call it a holiday" is the only part of that statement you should be paying attention to. There's no lies, Slot and players have been spotted out and about here and abroad when they should be training, and we know for a fact that Peeters' periodisation programme involves reduced workloads and more days off for recovery.

04 May 2026 15:52:52
I think and hope your right Ed!
Your info is massively appreciated on here.
You obviously have great contacts.

I think they're definitely trying to snuff out a leak.
Around 2 months ago, it was all about Xabi.
That Leverkusen journalist (forget his name. Hesse? ) had a massive piece about it, and he was apparently very close to Xabi and his people while they were at Leverkusen.
Other journalists wrote similar things, from different countries. There was something to it.
Then all of a sudden it stops, Slot gets backed vigorously. Ornstein and Joyce come out with piece after piece supporting Slot etc.
It seems fake and forced.
Even Carra on here I recall said Xabi was as good as done.
I think they're covering up leaks for future references. Isak injury and next years kit getting leaked recently too. I just wonder is it on purpose.

{Ed001's Note - it does seem to be deliberately leaked now. Maybe they have brought back Jen Chang?}

04 May 2026 16:16:26
Thanks Ed01. I'm disappointed how this season has went. I think it's fair to say that slot has maybe taken his eye off the ball and already mentally signed out rather than being out of his depths. I'm pretty sure he could do much better with this team, if he cared to.

If we had a good captain I think some of the on field issues wouldn't be happening but when I watch matches it just seems like the midfield can't be bothered and just get pushed out of the way, and VVD and Coco the clown (Konate) look like complete idiots at the back most of the time. I've always thought VVD is too relaxed and too arrogant to do the dirty work.

I'm worried about the direction the team is going in and I can only hope that Slot goes at end of season. I think most fans would now agree.

What happens if Slot starts next season and we lose our first home game? The fans inside the stadium, which apparently are the only ones that matter will start to boo and it's only going to get worse, so I see no logic in giving him the start of next season. On the flip side, someone could say "well he could win his first load of games and get the fans behind him" does anyone believe this will happen? Has anyone seen anything that suggest this lot are going to improve? We talk about signing but I think we are near the open heart surgery stage United were at a few seasons ago. Doesn't take long for rot to settle in. But with clever recruitment and a better coach this can be resolved easily. I think first and foremost we need to address the centre midfield position replace Macca, replace Gravenberch, and sort out a new captain. That would be my first 3 things I'd do. Thanks for all the hard work Ed01

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

04 May 2026 16:49:50
Our worst season in years and we could still finish 4th - not the worst outcome.

It's been a transition season:

Aging players regressing.
New signings not settling.
Injuries disrupting momentum.
A new manager still finding his footing.

We all thought with players like Isak, Wirtz & Eki we'd dominate - but reality has been very different.

I used to back Slot, but I'm starting to feel like a change might be needed. I wouldn't be surprised if Xabi comes in.

This summer has to be massive.

We must keep:

Alisson.
Van Dijk.
Konate (despite recent form, he's settled alongside VVD).
Curtis Jones - he has fight, something this team lacks.

Outside of Szoboszlai and Jones, too many players don't show enough edge or urgency.

Players we should seriously consider moving on:

Mac Allister (never fully convinced me).
Endo (injury concern, won't be the same).
Bajcetic (hasn't kicked on).
Gomez (should've been sold seasons ago).
Chiesa (hasn't worked).
Tsimikas.

We need reinforcements across the board:
RB, RW, LW, CM, CDM, plus a versatile defender and attacker.

Eki may only be fully fit late next season, and we can't rely on Rio to carry a full campaign - depth is critical.

Bottom line:
We need 5-7 signings, with at least 4 being starters.

We are Liverpool. YNWA. We will bounce back - but only if we get this next window right.

04 May 2026 16:33:02
What a word obfuscate is Ed. Should be used more often.

04 May 2026 16:43:11
Fingers crossed Ed1,
Hope there not as bad as it looks from the outside and they are working on a master plan!

Thanka as always for your input and information.
Very much appreciated ?
Even just listening to us vent!

04 May 2026 17:27:49
Klopp was an orchestrator, but was also open and honest, and I recall his post-match interviews, and even he was dumbfounded, but said we'll continue to work and look for solutions. Just open and honest.

04 May 2026 17:50:35
Inbeta, if the ticket prices are still an issue, the plans for protests might make for a very hostile atmosphere if the manager is still in place.

04 May 2026 18:38:06
Of everything that has happened this season, the thing that I really don't understand the most, is why people keep saying that this is a transition year.

We are the defending champions. In what world do the defending champions go into a transition year after winning the league?

Just an excuse to give those in charge a free pass.

04 May 2026 18:58:02
The term "transition year" wasn't the narrative at the start of the season. The narrative was we were building a team to dominate for years, and capitalise on City needing to rebuild, and Arsenal being bottle jobs. It is only when things started going badly, Slot started with the excuses, and I think it was him that said it was a "transition year" in Dutch.

I think this loosely means taking the champions and destroying them and losing 19 games and celebrating coming fifth.

04 May 2026 22:56:56
Chewy, I didn't expect him to say anything. I simply copied his statement. It's bizarre that even facts trigger you right now.

05 May 2026 00:49:55
Triggered? ? All I did was point out why we can't take everything at face value.

06 May 2026 23:26:18
We say we traditionally stand by managers, but FSG have sacked 3 of the 4 managers in their time at the club. Ok, one they inherited, but still. They, or at least the people in charge of the football operations, have shown that they will pivot if they deem it is necessary.
