As I said recently prior to Rodri joining Barca, Gavi is available and rejected man u (they offered pretty massive wages and he still said no). This is because Gavi really only wants Liverpool as he feels the way we will play suits how he plays.

Had Pep stayed, he would also have taken City but not anymore.

I'nt know if Liverpool are interested but I do know that's where he wants to go if he leaves Barca.

Cheers Nevada.

He was a great little player, but has had massive injuries. The Prem will ruin him with its physicality. He's best going to a lower Spanish club and getting his career back on track.

19 Aug 2026 07:38:05
Isn't the main reason he rejected interest to commit to Barca?

19 Aug 2026 07:42:46
He is on the lighter side, but one of those you never know, might come and bulk up and might help him with his injuries then, but then the more realistic and likely option is if he came he'd end up getting snapped in half, but some of the rough tackles that happen in England and that'll be him out.

He is no smaller than Premier League imports like Kante, Modric, Mata, Bernardo Silva, Zola, Coutinho, Pedro, Benayoun etc.

Not to mention some of the English players (Lennon, Sterling, Owen, Scholes, Rose etc) who were similar in size and still made it in the Prem.

Your brain, as well as how you use your body, is far more important than height or muscle mass.

Aggression and commitment go a long way, and you'll do well to find a player more aggressive or committed than Gavi. He really does put his body on the line.

The worry is his knee, not his size.

Would be a great buy, if LFC is indeed interested.

Agree with u there, MK. But if his injury is fixed and managed, he would be a super player for us.

19 Aug 2026 08:22:06
Them two knee injuries should be enough for us to look elsewhere.

19 Aug 2026 08:37:22
Not the sort of midfielder we need in my opinion.

19 Aug 2026 08:49:50
There's less risky options out there than Gavi.

19 Aug 2026 09:02:10
Not sure how he helps us. Won't win one single 1st ball or second ball.

19 Aug 2026 08:50:47
Wheres barcola done deal

19 Aug 2026 09:26:47
Two severe knee injuries in the last three seasons on the same knee. Absolutely hard pass on that one. More Arthur Melo nonsense, if you ask me, and I've had enough of seeing us sign sicknotes. Also, he's just another number 8 type of player, of which we are very well covered for midfielders of his profile.

We lack a competent midfield anchor, and it's an issue that will continue to cost us until we address it. A lightweight sicknote with a Napoleon complex is not the answer.

19 Aug 2026 09:55:46
Lots of potential, and still young, works his socks off, and is good on the ball. Concerns over injuries and at what I assume will be a substantial fee, represent a risk, though. I would love to get him, but I can see why some are sceptical.

Someone more robust like Sadiki or Camara might be better suited.

I just hope we get someone to fill that type of role as well as a wide attacker (or 2).

19 Aug 2026 10:21:53
Never going to happen. If anything, his agents are just using other teams' interest to get him a new deal.

19 Aug 2026 11:09:50
Gavi incoming is what you said.

19 Aug 2026 11:32:02
Be very surprised if we get any new players in, that's including Barcola.

Just to respond to a couple of the comments -

I'm not people have ever actually seen Gavi play, he's a very high pressing midfielder with an excellent passing range. Is he lightweight? No more so than Messi, Zola, David Silva and plenty of others. They were all fine in the Premier League. As MK said, if you read the game well, you generally avoid tackles anyway.

He rejected Man U because his first option is to stay at Barca, that's correct but only if he can get gametime - which he's aware he won't get as much now as he's essentially back up.

So in that event he'd prefer to leave with Liverpool being his preferred destination as he'd prefer to play in a team which is high pressing and fast passing because it's how he prefers to play.

Finally I did say Gavi incoming because I know he's available once Rodri signs (and at that point I knew Rodri was signing) and I assumed Liverpool would make an offer because we've been interested before. As of now there is no offer. I have no idea whether Liverpool are interested or not, I only know info at Gavi's end.

Sorry, was supposed to add - knee is fine according to club doc and specialist after surgery. It was a problem with the meniscus tearing slightly, causing discomfort, which Barca tried to manage non-surgically, unsuccessfully. He underwent surgery, and nobody expects further problems. He has played competitive games for Barca and Spain since, with no issues.

Cheers Nevada, good player when his knees ok. Wouldn't hate it if he's fit and firing and didn't cost the world twice over like recent transfers.

19 Aug 2026 14:46:54
If we can get him on a bit of a steal I'd quite like this one. New surroundings might reinvigorate his career.

Get him in cheap, and hopefully we can let Macca go and already have his replacement.

Any idea on cost?
