Hello!! I’ve just seen that we have bid for Sarr from Palace. Does anyone know if this is true?
Also been told by a friend (who lives in Liverpool and his kids go to school with some of the players' kids), that William Gomes of Porto is of interest and has been spoken about amongst some of the players.
Not sure how reliable this is but I thought I would share and maybe someone can clear it up as legit or not.

Romano is reporting this is the case. £50m, apparently. Good player, but he is 28 years old. Still got a lot of pace to his game, though, and should have an instant impact with minimal settling in required. Most importantly, Sarr is a runner.
He will make runs in behind and stretch the opposition. Something Gakpo and Rio don't do. They're more interested in coming deep so they can cut inside and shoot.
Could be a very good short term solution.

I actually wouldn't mind this at all. Got a good few years left on him. Decent creator and finisher.
Ok, no real re-sale value but sorts a problem out for now whilst we look for a long term replacement! Also a fair bit cheaper than Minteh and imo much better.

We don't want to pay 60 million for 18 year old Mbaye but will probably end up paying the same for Sarr, I don't understand the club's thinking here, Sarr has 3 years at the top level left, imo.

With MK, his output looks better than others, 6.1, a bit of height never hurts, play as striker.
Gives you a solid 2/3 years, hopefully market for RW isn't brilliant for us at the minute.
If it's only Sarr I'd say that's a bit naff, but Sarr and BB is sound.

With his record against us, it is worth signing him just to stop him scoring against us. Depending on the price, it could work out ok given our current situation.

He's also suffering from a groin issue, isn't training, and missed the Everton match.
Sounds like a perfect signing from Hughes.
Who's next? Bernard Diomede? Antonio Nunez?
Don't sign anyone unless they're going to make a significant difference to the team.

Tbh, this is the player I'd hoped we'd go for all along. Extremely rapid. As is Barcola. Clear what Iraola wants. But trying to do a deal with Palace with less than a week to go. Eeesh. This window has been a horror show. Praying for (the right) 2-3 additions.

Grim signing this. 28, far off from a wide threat (much better in the inside pockets) and yet another stop gap signing. How we have limited from youngsters in Minteh and Mbaye to Sarr is beyond me.

I prefer Sarr for three years, with Liverpool being his peak's club and giving his best rather than Mbaye, Rayan or Diomande who, after two years, would want to go to Barcelona, Real, Bayern or PSG.
By the way. Last year it was a craze about Malick Fofana. I haven't heard anything about him this summer.

So disappointing if true.
People keep saying that we need players that get the ball in the box for Isak to make the most of him.
That is not Sarr. He's much more of a head down run and shoot kind of player.
He wasn't laying on assists for meta last year, in fact he only got one assist all season.
Add on the fact that he's 29 in February and being linked to the Turkish / Saudi league, which is probably his most likely next move.

I'd personally prefer us to just sign Mbaye, who is basically sat there waiting for us to sign him, but it feels like Hughes would be too embarrassed to go back to PSG with his tail between his legs, even though Mbaye looks like decent value in comparison to what we are looking at for Minteh or Sarr.

Decent enough player, but another strange one for me. He is out with an injury that has no return date on (hope it's a niggle). I'm secretly hoping Andoni has asked for this, as he has a master plan shaping up, not that this is our 4th choice because Hughes has been inept, and is now trying to get anyone over the line.
But I'll have faith if this signing is happening.

Agree with Ed, should be going for Mbaye at 18, assuming he has no major injury issues we'll always get our money back, prices just keep going up. I feel like Sarr and Minteh bids were just us proving to PSG that we're prepared to move on if they want to try and hold us to ransom on Mbaye.
Or mbaye that's just my suspicious mind ?

Would rather Mbaye myself but Sarr is a good player. Younger than Guimaeres and Konsa, who people would have praised Arsenal for getting in. And while on Arsenal, Sarr has outscored Saka both in the league and all comps since he joined Palace.

Willam Gomez looks interesting. Don't know much about him, but he looks like a pacey and direct left-footed, right-winger. Maybe a little one-footed, but seems happy to work hard in attack and defence. Not a bad goal scoring record, but doesn't seem to create much for others.

Sarr is not good. He is decent at getting on the end of chances and scoring the odd goal, and he is strong and fast, but as a general footballer, getting others involved and all the other aspects of wing play, he is really not what we need.
If Minteh is a 7 out of 10 in terms of fit for what we need tactically, Sarr is probably a 3.

Ed666 dnt you think that he is a better solution than mbaye because he is Premier League proven and is at his peak instead of being a youngster
To unlock isak wouldn't it be better if barcola and sarr are on the wings than the unproven youngsters??
