Give Fede to Roma, get Kone.
Sell Mama to Forest, get RW.

Electronic football games have a lot to answer for.

Idk how reliable TIA is, but they have reported that Mamar is staying and that probably won't be any further signings.

Malick Fofana to Sunderland for £30 million is a steal. Hope we hijack this one, huge potential.

We sure do need another left winger.

As Nevada said on this yesterday, if we buy all the LW options in the world, this takes pressure off our right backs in all games.

Some crazy 4D chess being played here.

I think the best we can hope for this season is attacking football that gets us off our seats but a fair few losses with it. Last season we complained at the dire drab football that contributed to 12 league defeats. I'm not sure we will see any fewer defeats this season as the squad is so unbalanced, but with the players brought in we may get some excitement at least.

Plenty of 3-2 and 4-3 to come! Like the Newcastle team of the mid 90s under Keegan. Won't mean anything more than a bit of excitement but I would rather lose games going at the opposition than the way we did last season.

Hi fellas.

This window is a good example of how quickly things can change and ultimately how inept we are at transfer business given the length of time we've had to sort transfers out. Senior change can't come soon enough.

The Sarr signing is almost certainly out the window now but as I said, it was always a last resort and the club knew they were getting bent over - I mentioned Palace were trying to line up Malick Fofana as a replacement but he's now off to Sunderland so it really should kill any Sarr move. He's in a pretty awful position as he's burned bridges.

I mentioned we were about to go in for Soulé but the club have just done nothing. Roma aren't willing to let both Kone and Soulé go and our impotence has meant we've withdrawn completely from either player, and Chelsea have a free run at Kone if they want to pay. Say what you want about Chelsea but they know what they're doing and blow us out of the water. Shambolic. Soulé probably stays now despite interest from other clubs, especially since Newcastle have gone for Pardo - I know a few mentioned him on here but he was never on the cards.

I mentioned Biereth was offered to us earlier in the window but Monaco were only interested in a permanent deal whereas we were looking at a loan. Balogun to Everton has killed any move for Biereth, and I'm surprised Everton have gone for Balogun over Biereth as well.

So, onto Lamine Camara. There is a chance he still moves but, as I said, it's connected to the Enzo situation. I also said it would come down to deadline day and here it is still with no resolution. No one really knows if we're out of the running completely but it would be dependent on freeing up a non-HG spot (Mamar or Chiesa). No one wants to buy Chiesa.

What astounds me is that there are definitely options there and up until two days ago I expected us to limp over the line with a right winger and loan striker (Gakpo leaving too), especially with the amount of groundwork being done on loan strikers. The club absolutely could have made signings in the required areas but they've just said "can't be arsed anymore" and settled up. I really don't know what the thought process is with right back and midfield - maybe Szobo gets moved to right back now?

So to summarise, like quite a few people on here, you wanted particular things to happen and slowly assumed that they would happen because you wanted them to. Now that they haven’t happened, the club has failed.

It’s also suggested in more than one thread that the club brought in a new manager but let him down by not buying the players that people wanted / assumed we would buy. The inference clearly being that the club never spoke to AI and just picked out names from a hat. I suspect that Muniz, Araujo and the young Belgian keeper would have something to do with AI's input, as with the protracted pursuit of Barcola and the interest in Minteh and Sarr. Perhaps AI is interested in putting together a squad rather than collecting very expensive individuals.

Perhaps AI is trying to win the League rather than the transfer window?

Obviously the club is in a crisis - after all I’ve read it on this very site a number of times recently and our financial state and our playing squad are in a terrible state and having only drawn our first two league games it is fairly obvious to me that we are facing a prolonged relegation battle this season. I’m just thankful that we shall have the benefit of the expert planning and analysis that we are looking forward to on this forum. It might be the only thing that brings a smile to our face this season.

If it wasn't for the, frankly unbelievable, lack of strengthening in the full back and central midfield positions, I could find a way to put a positive outlook on the transfer window.

Jacquet: Promising start. Given how erratic Konate was last season, I am optimistic we'll be better off at centre half this season than we were last.
Munoz: Promising start; won the penalty that allowed us to salvage a point in our first match, and scored the equalizer in our second match. Fast, direct and can score.
Barcola: Obviously haven't seen him kick a ball for us yet (which means we have to wait and see – e.g. Wirtz and Isak showing us that £100m+ doesn't necessarily bring immediate stellar output) but if we say, as things stand, he's the replacement for Salah (even if he ends up playing on the other flank), we have to think of it in terms of Barcola replacing the 2025/26 version of Salah, not the all time great version of Salah.
Gakpo: Will surely deliver more than he did last season. Maybe a move to the right will help him and we'll see him play more like a traditional winger putting crosses in, which may in turn help Isak. Goal and assist in first two matches.

So Isak (fit) + Munoz + Gakpo + Barcola + Ngumoha + Ekitike to return, arguably compares favourably to Isak (mainly unfit) + Ekitike + Gakpo (horrendously out of form) + Salah (nowhere near his best) + Ngumoha (rookie).

All of that said, if we don't address the full back positions and add some steel in midfield (or at least try to play someone in the holding role), we're going to be too open and concede too many goals regardless of how good we are in attack.

Isn’t Benzema about 36?

Long time first time. Anyone know why we haven’t gone in for Alan Varela (FC Porto)? Apparently we’ve been linked with him for years. Plays a mean long ball and loves a Brexit tackle.

Just want to feel something @richardhughes?

If that’s our business done, ok.
Raging, no RW or CDM in anyway.
As it is, what’s everyone’s predictions for the season:
Mine are:

EPL: 6th
LC: 1st round (brutal draw)
FaC: 1/4’s
CL: 1/4’s

4th at best in the league and haven't a clue in the Cups. Depends on the draws.
