Can anyone remember what the site was like summer of 2024 when we only picked up Chiesa? Then went on to win the league.

That squad had one glaring issue, a holding midfielder, that Slot solved brilliantly by playing Gravenberch there. This squad has about 4 glaring issues.

Can remember people not being happy that 3 of our 4 CBs were the injury prone Konate and Gomez, and a kid not seen as good enough in Quansah. While Vvd was seen as over the hill by some even then. That our centre forward options were an erratic Darwin and a never-fit Jota.

There was just a general realisation that while our rivals all strengthened, we signed only Chiesa. Everyone could see how that one would work out.

As mentioned previously, my friend who works alongside the ground staff has once again stated that there is a lot of chat amongst staff about Trent returning, and it's causing a bit of a buzz there.


Fully expecting this to be turfed into the banter bin like when I first shared it a few days ago, but it's a shame when it comes from someone actually affiliated to the club.

Elliot going on loan to Valencia for a year, so he'll leave on a free as he has one year left.

Has anyone ever known of a club letting a player leave on loan knowing they'll leave on a free? Why not sell him off at leaat.

Our midfield has been exposed since last season, which makes the problem at our full back more pronounced. Or is it the other way round?

Or our lack of pace and penetration on the flanks exposed our midfield more than before?

Or the pass out from defence is now so much slower, especially without Trent's long pass, that the midfield has to do a lot more carry, and were much higher up the pitch when facing counters?

Mind you, our midfield is the only unchanged since winning the title apart from Wirtz.


So, would changing the midfield, or buying midfield solve the problem?

Nyoni just turned 19. Will improve even more when he gets a bit more "Beef" on him and more experience, also is a great teacher. He should of gone out on loan last year as Slot hardly called on him all season.

Hence his PL history is 6 total apps in 2025/26, all as a Substitute.

Going out on loan and gaining much needed experience was a better option. His last season was wasted. Andoni is no mug, he saw Nyoni has a future at LFC, while Slot deservedly does not!

Nyoni looked excellent in pre-season; he was the standout player every time he was on the pitch, calm, cool, collected, and constantly looking to progress the ball. He was playing well beyond his years and is capable of doing far more than filling Jones' shoes.

We don't know that at all yet Chewy. He did well in pre season, that's it. I say that as someone who really rates Nyoni since he came in at 16. But pre season is only that, pre season. Trey should be getting minutes, but for me they should be Endo's minutes, who should be let go.

Jones should have been replaced in the transfer market. As it stands, our midfield as far as personnel go is weaker than last season when we finished 5th.

Has anyone any update on whether we are still trying to recruit Mbaye from PSG? If we can get it over the line quickly, we would only need one private jet to bring him and Barcola over for their medicals, hence saving some cash.
