I'm guessing it's a load of nonsense but rumour this morning saying we are going in for David Silva?

I suppose it's that time of the year again, we're linked to every player under the sun!

Corleone

1.) 06 Nov 2017 10:20:38
And we’ll get laughed at.

2.) 06 Nov 2017 10:49:12
He is one player I’d love to see us sign. Even at 31 he’s still got loads left in him.

3.) 06 Nov 2017 11:12:45
Me too Mr Dennis - I just can't see it happening mate.

4.) 06 Nov 2017 11:44:20
He’s a long way past his best how he got MOTM at the weekend he’s night and day compared to de bruyne he’s constantly over playing and more surprisingly he gave the ball away a lot and wasted possession also. Isn’t half the player he was 5 years ago he’s not in the same league as de bruyne or coutinho or erikson.

{Ed001's Note - are you getting mixed up with someone else? If Couts was half the player Silva was we woould have won the league last season.}

5.) 06 Nov 2017 12:28:14
I really think silva is past it by a good few years there’s no end product with him he only scores tap ins because he’s always over playing and he’s not scoring many when he’s an attacking midfielder in a team that seems head and shoulders above the rest. I really don’t get how he’s still being talked about as if he’s still he player he was at his peak.

{Ed001's Note - are you sure you are watching David Silva and not some other Silva? He doesn't score many because that is not his role, he is the creator of the goals. I don't see how scoring a tap in means he is overplaying, that has absolutely no bearing on anything other than meaning he is in the right place to tap it in. Silva is still the central figure in everything Citeh do.}

6.) 06 Nov 2017 12:57:30
David Silva is still one of the best players in the prem imo. He is one of the few players that I think could walk into any team and immediately improve their first team!

I would take him in a heartbeat

Red Sandman.

7.) 06 Nov 2017 13:20:04
Jezza have you even seen him play mate? Not trying to be insulting or anything but it seems you have no idea if you think he is past it, he's absolutely outstanding mate.

RS - I agree, imagine him, Salah, Mane and Firmino, it'd be a brutal force nobody would want to go against. Give me Silva in front of Coutinho any day. Though again I can't for the life of me see it happening, just interesting to be linked to him.

8.) 06 Nov 2017 13:21:37
Would walk into any team in Europe. FACT. He may be the wrong side of 30 but age is just a number, if he relied on pace in the past and lost a yard then fair enough but the guy is total football and a different type of player to KDB so the comparison is pointless! Still the main man at Citeh IMO that’s why us (or anyone else) would get laughed at trying to sign him. A proper Pep style player.

9.) 06 Nov 2017 16:25:40
David Silva is still soooo good! IMO, he is the piece Barcelona has been missing and need pulling the strings in their midfield. They should have looked to him when Xavi called it quits.

10.) 06 Nov 2017 21:09:59
We have more chance of long John.

11.) 07 Nov 2017 05:56:08
Not sure he'd leave a side playing the best football in Europe and almost nailed on for the title already to come and fight for top 4. would need a big wage too. Would be awesome to see him at Anfield though!

25 Oct 2017 17:03:20
Ben Woodburn has signed a new contract, get in!

Corleone

1.) 25 Oct 2017 17:59:11
can he play in goal and/ or defence? ;-)

2.) 26 Oct 2017 07:56:45
Has looked great playing for Wales. Would love to see him get a proper chance next season. Bit early yet.

22 Oct 2017 07:41:58
Hi Eds, is there any truth to us been linked with Israeli youngster Manor Solomon? I've never heard of him until this morning but from a quick google search he's meant to be pretty decent.

Corleone

{Ed002's Note - I don't know - and I cannot see any way he would get a work permit.}

1.) 22 Oct 2017 11:32:27
Ok cheers Ed002, I'll put that one to the back of my mind :)

2.) 24 Oct 2017 08:23:05
He's also 100% not very good enough to be worth giving up on Kent and Wilson (and before someone asks, I'm an Israeli and was watching most of their games in the world cup this summer)

17 Oct 2017 10:33:08
Goretzka - apparently we have interest in him? - another player who's contract end's next year. Schalke are trying to get him to sign a new contract.

Should we be able to get him, would you be happy? To be honest, I've heard his name plenty but not really seen him play too much.

Corleone

{Ed002's Note - The interest was as an alternative to Keita. I am not aware of any recent approach to his club or to his representatives.}

1.) 17 Oct 2017 10:49:34
Oh I see thanks Ed002, must be recycled news.

{Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest in him from elsewhere.}

2.) 17 Oct 2017 10:51:58
Perhaps he would be considered as a replacement for Can, considering we were planning on bringing in Keita and keeping Can. I also have not seen much of him, so perhaps someone with more insight could let us know what kind of player he is?

{Ed002's Note - He is not a replacement for Can. Liverpool saw him as an option for Keita. Other sides are keen - including Juventus, who want Can as well.}

3.) 17 Oct 2017 11:05:22
One to write off in that case then, cheers Ed002.

4.) 17 Oct 2017 13:10:49
I'd imagine unless Hendo or Gini were to decide to leave this wouldn't be an option.

5.) 17 Oct 2017 13:25:48
I could see a wholesale changes in the midfiled. Hendo, Can and Wiji all would be loosing their place. Kieta is one of the names to begin with! I expect at least one more to come in!

6.) 17 Oct 2017 14:22:36
I agree Harry, Kieta is incoming, I do believe we will get another in the summer, whether it be Goretzka is another matter but I do think somebody else will come in.

7.) 17 Oct 2017 15:36:07
Maybe AOC will move into the middle at some point. Next season maybe? maybe maybe.

8.) 17 Oct 2017 13:25:48
I could see a wholesale changes in the midfiled. Hendo, Can and Wiji all would be loosing their place. Kieta is one of the names to begin with! I expect at least one more to come in!

9.) 18 Oct 2017 01:08:00
I'll go for Goretzka with or without Keita. I expect to lose Coutinho and Can. Goretzka-Hendo-Keita.

10.) 19 Oct 2017 02:13:13
I'm sure the kid Grujic would be leaving if somehow Goretzka arrived.
I think he's had 18 months to settle now, next season he should either be played more regularly or sold!

Personally I'd like to see him get a run in the team this season some time - we'll never know unless he's given games, training well/ poorly doesn't tell a whole story.

11.) 19 Oct 2017 02:27:04
Our midfield plan for next years is clearly Hendo-Keita-Coutinho/ Coutinho replacement. For the record I think there is nothing wrong with any of our midfielders in isolation. It's more that the three current midfielders are all so similar we have no variety - all box to box workhorses whose best work is done supporting specialists. That very much what Goretzka is as well and buying him would do little to improve our midfield without departures.

16 Oct 2017 07:49:44
Morning Eds, is there any truth to us looking at Faouzi Ghoulam or have I been clickbaited? It would make no sense to me since we've just got Robertson?!

Corleone

{Ed001's Note - we looked at him in the summer. Someone told me he is out of contract next summer, so it could be a possibility if they are correct.}

1.) 16 Oct 2017 07:56:05
From what I have read Chelsea, City, Juventus and us are interested in him (no doubt there's more going on his contract ending) so I'd say the chances of us signing him are slim, but interesting nonetheless. If we did go for him I'm guessing Moreno would be out the door. Thanks mate.

{Ed001's Note - he would be an interesting signing, if it had been up to me we would have pursued him in the summer gone rather than Robertson.}

2.) 16 Oct 2017 08:12:59
Yeah his contract does indeed end next year - if I'd of known that in the summer I'd of thought the same, makes me wonder why we went for Robertson in this case.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I never saw the point in signing him anyway.}

3.) 16 Oct 2017 08:43:02
Makes no sense to buy Ghoulam unless Robertson is given a fair chance. Otherwise why buy him in the first place?
Salah was the only good business this summer. Looks like even Klopp does not rate his own recruits.

4.) 16 Oct 2017 09:24:32
I don't understand why Robertson isn't been played either. If we are going for Ghoulam to me it says either A. We know we shouldn't of got Robertson or B. We want to offload Moreno. Was Robertson a panic buy and the only LB we could get at the time? who knows, but right now I can't get my head around us getting him, it was a pointless signing but since he's here I want to see more of him, he deserves to be given a chance but he's not getting it. Maybe more is going on behind the scenes, I wouldn't know.

Agreed on Salah, He's absolutely fantastic just needs to work on finishing a little but overall he's outstanding, I really rate the fella. Was gutted he didn't score the other day, he deserved a goal.

5.) 16 Oct 2017 10:06:20
Goulham is a good player and one of the prominent members of high flying Napoli team. I have no idea why they haven’t offered a new contract ( certainly nothing to do with his quality ) he is an ideal player into klopp’s system. In fact it’s no brainer to pick anyon from Napoli. They are carbon copy of liverpool. I would have gone for him in th summer!

6.) 16 Oct 2017 12:30:25
WE bought Robertson because he was a cheaper alternative. I watched him for Scotland in the two recent qualifiers and he looked awful. He is not the quality of player who should be wearing an LFC shirt.
If he can't get a place in front of Moreno then that says it all.

I can only suspect he's there to keep Moreno on his toes.

7.) 16 Oct 2017 12:50:37
Faouzi Ghoulam will be very expensive (gestifute will make sure of that) and if he comes to the EPL it will most likely be to go to Chelsea or Man City.

{Ed002's Note - He is out of contract in the summer.}

8.) 16 Oct 2017 13:35:22
Him been out of contract must be down to him, surely they've offered him one? I'm guessing due to interest from other clubs, he's going to see out his contract and see what offers he gets.

9.) 16 Oct 2017 14:23:50
Reynard, he will not go to Man city to be back up for Mendy. Chelsea also have Alonso who is doing pretty well. If Ghoulam wants regular first team football, LFC can give him that. But it makes the Robertson signing all the more baffling. Klopp does not rate him by the looks of it, so why sign him? Should have kept Milner as competition for Moreno at LB. Salah aside, the entire summer transfer window was a utter an dismal failure for LFC.

10.) 17 Oct 2017 06:57:01
He will follow the money IMO.

Morning Eds/ all - hope its a great weekend for you all!

Corleone

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, same to you and everyone else.}

1.) 11 Nov 2017 08:20:00
What's happening Ed? Hopefully a good result for Rep. of Ireland tonight. N. Ireland really got done over with that penalty decision.

{Ed001's Note - no idea mate, I never watch internationals, I use the international breaks as a rest from watching games and just concentrate on articles. To be perfectly honest, international football is just not of interest to me.}

2.) 11 Nov 2017 08:44:47
Ahh ok Ed hope your keeping well mate.

{Ed001's Note - good thanks mate, though still as busy as ever!}

3.) 11 Nov 2017 11:20:58
I hope we get a result tonight BARRY.

4.) 11 Nov 2017 12:17:29
Think well get a result! Just to keep Eriksson quiet

Was absolutely gutted about n. i game, the referee made 2/ 3 shocking decisions imo.

09 Nov 2017 07:52:56
Good Morning Eds/ all - almost weekend, hope all has had a good week?

I've been thinking recently about how Firmino is underrated by so many people, am I the only one to think this?

Somebody I was speaking to the other day was rambling on about how he's average and wouldn't get into teams like City, Barcelona etc because he doesn't score enough. Can people not see what else he brings? he offers far more then just goals.

I have always rated the lad, he's special and definitely up there with Mane and Salah plus he's looking even better without Coutinho in the team!

Anyway that's my thought of the morning out there :) have a good day to all!

Corleone

{Ed001's Note - I defo agree, especially when I talk to Ed025 and he does not see what the lad brings. Firmino is a quality player who is a big part of the team in so many ways. If the whole team was at his level we would be top of the league.}

1.) 09 Nov 2017 08:06:29
Yeah we definitely would be mate. He's a very intelligent player and needs to be more appreciated. Id be more gutted him leaving before Coutinho any day, people think the sun shines out of Coutinhos arse, Firmino is the better player in my eyes and is still improving.

2.) 09 Nov 2017 08:52:36
He does remind me of Suarez a lot in the aspect of chasing everything not giving up for any ball minus the goal scoring but he brings so much to the team, I do think with Mane back you'll see go through a green patch and score a lot of goals I'm sticking by my prediction at the start of the season that he will get 20 goals in the premier league and 30 in all competitions.

3.) 09 Nov 2017 09:09:06
Apart from being skilfull, his work rate is immense. For me he is one of our most important players, his link up play at times is excellent. The one area I think he needs to improve on is his shooting.

Anyone that doesn’t rate Bobby probably hasn’t watched him live at a match.

4.) 09 Nov 2017 09:26:58
Wow. That's some statement ed.

I'd go with if firmino was at salah level we would be top of the league.

He has good moments but he is not a top top player. Dirk kuyt was a great servant but not top tier and him and firmino are like two peas in a pod.

{Ed001's Note - he is nothing like Kuyt. I loved Dirk but he was not a top class player by any means, his workrate made up for it to a degree but was never enough. Firmino is a top class player with the workrate to match.

I think you are forgetting that we have 9 other players than Firmino and Salah in the team and they are the issue not Firmino. We need better midfield and defenders, not forwards. Firmino has already got 7 goals this season in 17 games. That is not far off 1 in 2. It is better than most out and out forwards manage. I really do not understand what you are watching if you think he is like Kuyt. That is one of the most blinkered, ridiculous and frankly ignorant statements I have ever read.}

5.) 09 Nov 2017 09:56:04
Am I reading this right? Are some supporters really blind to what firmino does for our team? He's scored 7 and been involved in a lot of our other goals with assists with his passing with dragging defenders out of position plus his work is non stop. We would miss him in the squad more than most of the team.

6.) 09 Nov 2017 09:56:41
Firmino = Kurt is almost as bad as people suggesting firmino should play in center-mid cos he runs a lot and presses. anyways, firmino is greater for us. Great touch, vision and is good enough of a finisher to get by. He obviously isn't a natural finisher, which is why it's stupid to judge him with that lense.

7.) 09 Nov 2017 10:02:21
For me he is a quality player not a world class player though.
If over the next few seasons he can add more goals we would be talking world class. At the moment a decent player doing well for the team.

{Ed001's Note - I would also say quality rather than world class, though I don't mind if he doesn't score more, if he is instead creating more to reach that top bracket.}

8.) 09 Nov 2017 10:06:17
Firmino is a brilliant player. Excellent first touch and fits in with the system like a glue! He is not at the level of Coutinho.

9.) 09 Nov 2017 10:09:59
At the end of the day it's a team game I'd love it if he got us 20 league goals a season and keep up the assist side of his game.

10.) 09 Nov 2017 10:44:50
Are you been serious TopBusiness? because that post makes no sense mate I don't know how you can be serious with such a post, comparing Firmino to Kuyt, really? see this is what I'm talking about. That is just nonsense mate.

11.) 09 Nov 2017 12:02:36
Without Firmino in the team the likes of Mane, Salah and coutinho wouldn’t score anywhere near the amount of goals as they do, he’s the player who makes it all click up front.
So you can forgive him for his apparent lack of goals as he is indirectly or directly responsible for the other forwards scoring so many.
Not world class but not far off, he might not make the starting line ups of some teams but any team in the world would be lucky to have him in the squad.

12.) 09 Nov 2017 12:34:36
Firmino's good enough that I don't mind him keeping Studge out of the team (from me that's high praise) . I'm not sure he'd get a game at City or Spurs however but he's be starter at Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal.

13.) 09 Nov 2017 13:00:17
As a striker Firmino is a good player as was kuyt.

Firmino work rate does make up for his lack of other skills like kuyts did.

Absolute nonsense to think he is anything close to quality. If he was playing like this for another top team you wouldn't be that hyped to be signing him. As you would be if it was sanchez, Jesus, kane etc

You let him off with a lot because with all respect ed1 loves him and he's our player. Take him outta Liverpool and he's just another run of the mil player. Nothing special, good but that's it.

As for his goals. He smashed it last year till about November then took 4 months off. He was out scored by literally nearly every other premier league striker. Josh king, llorente, Defoe. not even the top tier players. Yet he's some quality forward. Ok.

I will never accept him as our number nine and will never be convinced we can have as much success as we crave with him up top. That being said I believe, as a number 10 he could push de bryune.

I think him behind a real forward would allow him less pressure of scoring. more opportunities to press and pass. It would allow a striker to remain further forward as firmino would do all his running for him. When coutinho goes I think we already have his replacement in robbo and we should focus every ounce of our resources of the very best striker we can muster.

Mane firmino salah
MERTENS.

14.) 09 Nov 2017 15:38:44
I think people need to forget about numbers on backs. Kane, Jesus and Sanchez have different jobs to Firmino. Klopp's system is fluid, and Firmino does what he's asked perfectly. Perhaps he should be put back on penalties, that will get his goals tally up a bit and then everyone will be happy.

{Ed001's Note - I would give up if I was you, some people clearly know nothing about the game. If they are watching us play and can't see Firmino is quality then it is a waste of time discussing it with them. Any one who judges Firmino purely on his goal tally knows nothing about the game at all and would have done nothing but moan about Dalglish for not scoring enough, because they don't understand the game. They should stick to business.}

15.) 09 Nov 2017 17:25:37
Spot on stoneage/ ed001.

16.) 09 Nov 2017 19:32:36
TopBusiness, comparing Firmino to Kuyt is just criminal and if you actually think that then, I fear for you. Also, what a load of tosh about Firmino took 4 months off. Really? Were you asleep the whole time where he had to play out wide when Cou was injured and when Mane was at the AFCON which affected his game? You are saying he is not quality. My friend, you would not know quality if it stood in front of you if you think that.

Firmino is top notch, end of story. The things he was doing to WH defenders, was just breath-taking. A complete joy to watch. You think Klopp is stupid when he praises him after such games? He knows that there is NO Salah, Mane or Ox w/ o Firmino. NOT A CHANCE. I personally, don't care if he does not score as much cos he might as well have scored a hatful cos it is his quality, guile, intelligence, movement and unselfish workrate, that allows Mane and Salah with Ox and Cou, to score as much as they have done so their goals are might as well be his.

Who you will or will not accept as our no. 9 is irrelevant cos you see things so myopically that it's not even worth discussing things. Mertens? Great player BUT only started his good run last season. Needs to do more. And if you think Bobbie will be good in the no. 10 role then I suggest you just give up having this discussion cos clearly, you have no clue about what Firmino does for this team.

17.) 09 Nov 2017 22:20:03
Bobbys movement is really missed when he's not on. He really disgruntles centre backs and pulls them out of position. This really helps Mane and Salah are able to roam further forward.

18.) 09 Nov 2017 23:54:21
Lol everyone missed the point and started bringing what he does for us😂

the question was very very simple would he get on city Barcelona etc? Of corse NOT.

{Ed001's Note - Pep loves Firmino and that is the way he wants Aguero to play.}

19.) 10 Nov 2017 06:06:50
20 Premier league goals is a big ask from this stage! He has 3 in his first 11. To get to 20 he needs to score 17 in 27 games! I can only see him scoring 10-15 league goals but that doesn't matter to be honest. Salah is on track to score 25, Mane will get 15 at least if he stays fit, and Sturridge is on course for about 10 in the league. Add that Chambo, Lallana, Can and Gini will all get about 5 each, i have no concerns at all.

Goals aren't our problem. Firmino is doing a great job at making space for others and creating chances. We'll probably end up second top scorers to Manchester City. Maybe 3rd if Alli finds his shooting boots and Kane stays fit.

Anybody who can't see what Firmino does either doesn't watch us, or doesn't understand his role in our team. It is nothing more than a deflection away from the real issues that we have in the centre of our defence and of course, Mignolet. If those 3 position were sorted out, we'd be title contenders. Add a top holding midfielder in and I'd argue we could win the title. The problem is that those are 4 positions where there is a severe lack of quality in world football.

Nobody should be questioning our forward line. They score enough to win almost all of the games we play. Only City and United have stopped them scoring this season. You can't include Leicester in the Cup as Firmino, Mane and Salah didn't play. Mane was missing against United as well. And Mane and Salah basically missed the City game too. We keep our front 3 fit and nobody will stop us from scoring goals. Firmino is of equal importance to any of our attackers.

My only concern is that if Cavani leaves PSG after falling out with Neymar, Firmino would be perfect for them as a false 9. He'd create the space for Neymar and Mbappe to come inside and score a hat full. PSG have shown interest in the past as well. Just got to win trophies though and give Firmino an incentive to stay at Anfield!

04 Nov 2017 08:28:14
Good morning Eds/ all hope it's been a good week for you all and a better day today once we get them 3 points! :) I don't think it'll be an easy game but I do think we'll win, let's go for 3-1! then we can all chill for a couple of weeks.

Going on Sturridge been in the right places at the right times recently, I'd like to see him start this one, he needs more minutes and I think giving him a full game will help him, he's far from his best but he is scoring and that's what he's meant to do.

I'd also love to see Karius on but we know that won't happen, I want to see him have a challenging game no doubt Migs will be on again, unfortunately.

Anyway roll on half 5!

Corleone

1.) 04 Nov 2017 09:58:25
Good day man! If we don't win today when 4 of the top 6 play each other, we have nothing to moan about when we are outside the top 4 at the end of the season :)

2.) 04 Nov 2017 11:15:51
Kloppisakloon, it is indeed a good opportunity today to make up some ground on our rivals BUT win, lose or draw, nothing will be determined today about whether we make top 4 or not as these opportunities will be available to us throughout the season. It will be up to us to take them.

01 Nov 2017 08:32:21
Last game against Maribor we could've quite easily won 10-0. Now we're at Anfield do you expect us to do them over like the other week? I do! let's make it double figures ;)

Corleone

1.) 01 Nov 2017 08:47:04
Seriously hope the players don't have that kind of mentality, complacency is the bigger teams worst enemy, 5% drop in the mental application at the top level is enough for a much better team not to win a match they are easily expected to win.

2.) 01 Nov 2017 09:01:25
KloppisaKloon - Good job I'm not a player and just a fan then mate isn't it :)

3.) 01 Nov 2017 09:05:21
it almost never happens like this. more likely if we win that it'd be summin like 2 or 3-0.

4.) 01 Nov 2017 09:08:58
I'm expecting similar to saturday Corleone, cagey first half with the crowd getting on their back, then a few goals in second. 3-0 would be my prediction.

We only stuffed them away from home due to the early goal it ruined their game plan.

5.) 01 Nov 2017 09:13:35
Yeah man, that why i said the players ;) Nothing wrong in wanting LFC to win 10-0, that's my dream for every single game mate :)

6.) 01 Nov 2017 09:18:35
Lol I'd love to see it, but I know it probably won't happen, hell I'd be happy with 1-0, a wins a win to me mate :)

7.) 01 Nov 2017 10:07:39
I will go for 5-1 tonight.

8.) 01 Nov 2017 11:31:27
I'll take a win however it comes. but I'm sure the boys will go out to try and make a point and without any complacency. Maribor will come with an extremely defensive brief looking for nothing more than to stifle our attacking play.

Jayden I understand what your saying but you say 'As much as I would like Ward and Karius to work it they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above. ' How would we know that since they've been give no chance? they need to be thrown in mate before we can say thing's like 'they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above'

Relaxlabrudder - Why should we buy a keeper with the money when Karius and Ward haven't had their time to prove themselves? we don't need a keeper we need to drop Mignolet that's all, buying another keeper would be forcing Ward and/ or Karius straight out the door without their chance, that'd make us look absolutely wonderful wouldn't it. We don't need a striker either. Yes we do need a CB and possible a Couts replacement in Jan/ Summer. But that's as far as it goes.

Some people really should get over it and he's not the best player, I am.

This situation is different to the Suarez one. We haven't gone and got a load of 20m players, in case you didn't see the recent news mate we went and signed VVD for 75m. We've also got Keita incoming who is top quality and that's just the beginning, I still think we'll get somebody else this window. Have we learnt our lesson? Yeah I think so.

It's just shocking, I am Italian and this I would never of guessed in a million years, what a dreadful manager this should never of happened. International football doesn't really do it for me but of course I always want Italy/ England to do well but that's more or less impossible. Especially when there's a manager like him in charge, recipe for disaster.
