It would be a great window if we got the Monaco midfielder and Wharton with Wirtz ahead of them. I'd play Dom on the right.
Great at pressing, great crosser and shooter.
27 Aug 2026 14:12:12
He is far from a great crosser. His corners are generally terrible.
27 Aug 2026 14:19:22
Dom is a great crosser. You've confused crossing and set pieces. š
Wharton is very good on set pieces.
27 Aug 2026 13:43:18
Question for the masses.
If (stress if), we sign Barcola and then Lamine Camara.
Would people change their opinion on the window that Hughes has delivered?
I get we'd ideally like these signings more quickly but Jacquet, Munoz, Barcola, Araujo and Camara is a pretty good addition to the squad.
27 Aug 2026 13:50:02
Pretty happy with that, my main criticism would be that we have left it late, but better late than never, I suppose.
27 Aug 2026 13:51:26
Jacquet was already a done deal in January last year.
Good business, yes, but they were all easy deals to make with the exception of Barcola. I think AI has had a massive influence too (literally, Munoz and Aroaujo were his instruction), so I think it is more a case of Hughes being told to listen to AI rather than him being some sort of mastermind.
27 Aug 2026 13:56:38
I'd be pretty happy with the players that were brought in, but there would still be no excuse for not bringing in a specialist RW given that we have known for so long that Mo was leaving. I understand that the market is not great, and that Slot and Edwards going may have effected things, but it is absolutely ridiculous.
27 Aug 2026 14:03:13
Fully agree with Man of Todd, these are not the typical Hughes/Edwards type signings we've seen in the past. I think the board completely lost faith after pissing £450m up a wall last year and as a result we're going back to a much more manager-involved transfer policy.
27 Aug 2026 14:10:43
Personally, I don't have a strong opinion on Hughes.
Generally, I don't buy into the hysteria where people conclude we're not doing anything in the market based on no confirmation of a signing.
For those that do go that way, I can't see how anything positive changes their outlook to be honest.
27 Aug 2026 14:11:16
The ease of the deals is a bit irrelevant though, isn't it?
I totally get why he's had his criticism, but his CV could still show signing:
Isak
Wirtz
Jacquet
Araujo
Ekitike
Barcola
Camara (potentially)
Kerkez
Before he joined the club, and irrespective of the success of some of these signings, everyone would be saying yes f****g please, wouldn't they?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and there's still a good chance the likes of Kerkez, Isak and Wirtz can come good.
They were class the year we bought them.
Andoni needs patience to get us ticking once the window is done.
27 Aug 2026 13:40:56
Iād prefer 50 M Euro Manu Kone over any of the other overpriced midfielders being touted, him and Dario Osorio 15M Euro.
Sell Fede Elliott Endo.
27 Aug 2026 13:49:03
Who do we sell them to? It's not like clubs are falling over themselves to sign them.
27 Aug 2026 13:58:09
FC Midtjylland have had the 15 mil price tag on Osorio the entire window and have yet failed to sell him at that price. That should really tell you all you need to know about what kinda clubs are interested in him.
He is not good enough for a top PL team, and he is a dick head.
Nasty player, him. Would be so disappointed if LFC bought him.
27 Aug 2026 15:58:49
We need a bit of nasty.
With regards to who we sell, Fede had interest from Italy, offer him to Roma, with offer for Kone frees up NHG place.
27 Aug 2026 12:46:07
Amazing what a "breaking news transfer" does to this site. Ornstein says it you all fall over yourselves. The real ITKs say it and they get hung drawn and quartered until it happens, then everyone apologises for miscalling them
Then there is the "kids playing with daddy's phone ITKs" that come out the woodwork claiming they had posted previously. It's all very tiring
Anyway - VG, Carra, Macca, The fields, Ned thank you for keeping this site going along with the amazing Ed's, without the info drops it would be a little less exciting. I for one appreciate it and while I don't post often as long as you guys are here and the Ed's are working on the site I will frequent to get my fix.
27 Aug 2026 13:17:13
To be fair, Ornstein gets dismissed on here. I find him to be reliable.
27 Aug 2026 13:24:37
Not sure who you're talking about, but the loyal few on this site have great faith in our trusted posters. The handful of fools who question them are just that, fools, and they should be ignored for the most part. They won't be here come October. Maybe don't address the entire community to paint them all with the one brush.
27 Aug 2026 13:28:31
It's not hard to understand, mate, nor is it personal. Ornstein, despite being a mouthpiece for clubs nowadays, has confirmed sources and is a leading journalist for a well-known publication with extensive contact with hundreds of clubs.
Though Carra, VG, Robbo et al. have excellent track records, especially in recent years, to the majority of people on here, they are still anonymous contributors with unknown sources.
They give us news well in advance, but Ornstein confirms what clubs actually tell him. We are lucky to have the ITKs on here, though, without a doubt.
27 Aug 2026 13:41:54
The Eds are working on the site from morning til night
That's livin alright (that's livin alright).
Then a pint with the boys in a bar full of noise
That's livin alright.
I'm sure an ex manager of ours sang about that š¤.
27 Aug 2026 14:12:10
Maybe if the ITK info had a footnote to the "deal done" along the lines of "but not for another few weeks", then those prone to hysteria may have piped down a bit lol.
27 Aug 2026 14:36:03
My take on the proper ITKs is, and I said this the other day, I don't hang on every word they say, and I'm not being disrespectful in saying that. I'm appreciative of what they post, but, sometimes, like journalists who I respect, they are wrong. I don't think any less of them when they are. It's the nature of transfers.
27 Aug 2026 12:30:15
A BIG thanks to the Eds for running this page.
A BIG thanks to those I feel are ITK, don't need to write all their names, we know who they are.
Think Hughes deserves some credit, I know these players haven't hit the heights yet, but there is time and on the side of all of them to come good.
Barcola a fantastic signing.
My contact at Bournemouth has stated that Liverpool did pause conversations on Rayan as we're looking at cheaper alternatives. However, they haven't walked away completely.
Funny how Barcola seems done and now we are all looking for the next signing. It's like a drug.
Good shout on Lamine Camara, he would be a terrific signing.

Metal Mickey is correct that some classification of ITKs is required.
Unfortunately, due to increased meat-based work demands at Angelica, I am unable to personally participate in ranking individuals at this time. Chef Jean-Bjorn says that I am "not to leave the cold room during an active thaw" after last Tuesday's veal incident.
However, to ease public concern I have been authorised to furnish the site with a provisional ITK classification system, under the direction of Chef JB.
1) Plongeur ā Dishwasher. No access to ingredients or equipment. Treats communal steam as proprietary.
2) Commis de Twitte ā Entry level, public feed, prep cook. Chops Romano, reheats Plateau and plates Plettenberg. No access to the animal. Valuable for noise monitoring. Most dangerous between 10pm and 4am.
3) Chef De Partie ā Knows one station well. May know one club, agent or player. Useful within limits, but unsafe on wider menu planning.
4) Poissonnier ā Handles slippery items, primarily from France & Portugal. Must be kept cold.
5) Saucier ā Refines after the event. Under their watch, "contact" becomes "talks", "talks" become "advanced" before finally transitioning to "done". Highly aromatic, frequently over-trusted.
6) Sous Chef ā Understands timing, heat & silence. Does not write "exclusive", because those on the pass already know where the plate is going.
7) Chef de Cuisine ā Does not post after 10pm as competent people delegate. Has no need to say "exclusive" because the word belongs to men still touching the food. Knows the supplier, the cost, the station, the table and which junior will later pretend he tasted it first. May sign off. Some signatures close dockets. Others are drawn in condensation near the sink.
Chef Jean-Bjorn sits outside the system. He does not provide updates. He corrects cuisson, inspects labels, and removes men from the pass when their confidence exceeds their station.
Hope this helps.

Magnifique, Fornax, tres bien! This site is so lucky to have one so wise as you.
27 Aug 2026 13:25:32
The Fornax Scale has spoken.
27 Aug 2026 13:27:20
Fornax, you are a legend. Laughed my oversized socks off. š¤£
This will deffo help the gullible posters on here.
27 Aug 2026 13:44:48
And what of Baldrick's rat au van and the frankenfood?
27 Aug 2026 11:45:19
Right, I'm sick of all the ITKs Robbo Carra VG Ned.
First, you all stick to your guns about Slot then you do the same with Barcola.
No matter how much stick you got and proven right again, can you all stop it now so everyone can go back to news now for our info and all the other click baits and sky sports news.
lol š¤£.
So really, thanks guys and hopeful all the doubters might now become believers again.
27 Aug 2026 12:14:52
Great post Grino, where would a rumours site be without reliable info? Great job by Carra, Robbo, Thefields, Victor, Ned et al.
27 Aug 2026 12:56:28
We love the info the standard chat to the eds even that ed666 whos back tormenting people haha, even some of the cranks on here are loved slightly ;)
27 Aug 2026 11:45:11
Quick question for Eds or anyone that knows.
What is the difference between deal agreed and deal agreed in principle?
27 Aug 2026 12:16:34
I'm sure Fornax will come up with a great description. I'm sure they posted a steak-related analogy answer to this.
27 Aug 2026 12:20:02
By adding "in principle," it means that journos can backtrack on the stuff that they make up or get wrong and still claim that they were right.
27 Aug 2026 12:55:26
My understanding was in principle means everybody's happy with the deal and agreement is in place. The deal is only officially completed once the contracts and paperwork have been drafted and checked by lawyers and signed by all parties.
I may be way off the mark. I usually am tbh.
27 Aug 2026 13:14:53
Thanks all. Looking forward to seeing him in red signing the papers.
Excited as think his pace will open up midfield space and help Wirtz.
27 Aug 2026 11:44:31
In no way am I an ITK but I have a sneaky suspicion that the window ends with Camara and Mbaye - I have watched a lot of Mbaye over the course of last szn and truly believe even at 50m he is a far better option than Minteh/Sarr - hope we can get both through the door in time for next week's fixtures - something about signing a Senegalese winger just brings back so many good memories!
