I think pretty much everyone looks like they need a break to be honest. We look like we have lost a bit of fight, especially in the first half’s. And please tell me that the tactic to walk the ball forward at the pace of a toddler and then simply give the ball back through one of Mac’s horrendous passes hasn't come from Slot because that was just embarrassing!
All credit to NF they are a good side and playing well and it’s no fluke that they are in the top 3.

Chiesa isn’t going to start but mo definitely needs a rest.

Chiesa should get some minutes against Plymouth (FAC), Lille (CL) and Spurs (LC) in the coming weeks to keep Salah fresh. I would not be resting Salah in a league game though. We need our best team out every week in the league right now, even if it is Ipswich. Didn’t they do Chelsea the other week?

How slow can we go it’s got me climbing the walls. Terrible tactic. We need a souness in midfield we are to soft.

Can we afford to rest him against Spurs in the League Cup though? We have a good chance of making it to the final since a 1-0 deficit isn't that hard to turn around in the second leg. I agree with resting him against Plymouth and Lille though but I'd like us to go full strength in the League Cup.

Agree John, the lack of aggression is frustrating at times. We need some steel in that midfield and one that powers forward.

He should have already had time off straight after the Man U game. As should Grav. We will run out of steam again if we don’t change something.

Or a Endo Scouse.

There wasn’t much wrong with our tactics last night. We were very clearly a much better team than Forest and controlled the vast majority of the game. On this evidence, the latter will struggle to hold to top 4 let alone a title challenge.
Our possession and control was much more like the early parts of the season. If anything, the overall game showed everyone how good Liverpool are when they aren’t underestimating their opponents.

Our issues lie in other areas, and MacAllister is one of them. Firstly, aside from a few nice finishes and worldie strikes that have ensured he is immune to critique, let alone criticism, MacAllister’s general play in central midfield is poor: physically weak, consistently bad execution of passes, no defensive nous. Further, why, when the opposition are desperate to waste time, are you a) fouling them constantly, and b) spending ages on the floor wasting time yourself?
Other than that, Robertson’s time should be absolutely done now. I am annoyed at how many chances we’ve wasted just this season with his rotten deliveries, not to mention his defending.
Lastly, we need a cold, clinical striker that doesn’t routinely lose their head in front of goal. Salah is a masterful player but has inconsistent, wayward technique when shooting, Gakpo isn’t bridging the gap to being a consistent top class player (yet), Diaz isn’t threatening enough, period, and while Jota was excellent when he came on, he spends too long injured every season.
Final part of this rant - we are WAY too nice as a team. The referee was enabling Forest’s time wasting from minute 1, allowing them too long on every set piece and blowing up for medical attention even without a head injury. Yet, Liverpool just accepted it - no outrage to the ref, just letting it go. This is what I mean about the gut to win the title. You need to want it badly.

Sounds like many have never coached against a team that defends with a low block, often a line of 5 and 4.
This game could easily have ended 1-3. We created good opportunities but either lacked the finish or came up against a great save or goal line block. Jota could have had a hattrick in an 8 minute spell, Salah wasted a few as did others.
Overall we were far better against a team fighting tooth and nail, playing as a team, well drilled and committed.
Chelsea and City drew. We still have a decent lead and a game in hand on Forest, 7 point lead on Arsenal.
A neutral would really have enjoyed that game I think.

Thought we started off really well yesterday but the goal was a sucker punch and took wind out of our sails.

As for Salah, he was just doing Salah things. He is so often poor with his finishing and passing and we saw that again yesterday. He is a player who delivers moments rather than performances and I expect this to become more and more the case the older he gets. Awful yesterday imo - he had so many opportunities 1 vs 1 and couldn’t capitalise. He has to take responsibility this year as usually when his form fails off so does our title challenge. We really do need someone who is clinical in front of goal if Jota cannot stay fit.

Overall tough game but we had more than enough chances to win. Guess if we do win the league this year we are going to do it the hard way and take it to the wire. Interesting to see if Arsenal can take advantage but we are really giving everyone ample opportunities to close the gap.

Arsenal have saka injured, jesus probably out for the season, martinelli looking ineffective and havertz leading the line. to be honest I find it difficult to imagine them going on a huge winning run.

We battered them in the second half. Their defence and keeper had magnificent games. Salah’s touch was way off, he had the beating of Williams all day but he didn’t make the most of the space he was given. Diaz was dire, what was he thinking with that they ball to Gakpo? Literally could have fed him in on 3 separate touches. Great game all the same.

Salah wasn't great but he can always get a goal and often does. If that shot doesn't get cleared off the line, he wins the game for us. If we get a penalty he will take it.
He has to start almost every game.
He was up against it last night though and his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses.
It's lazy thinking to rest him or sub him after a game. You pick your best players and the one you can rely on. Is that Chiesa, Elliott etc? Not for me.

Lots of great comments/ insigts on here. Lovely read, boys. For me, Salah at times, gets into his own head and this has been the case before. Sadio used to do it too. There are games where Salah will try something and if it continues to fail, he start playing what the youngsters today, call Hero-ball. As in, I want to be the guy to rescue the team to the point of playing for himself rather than within the system. As for Chiesa, that's not a game you want to bring him on cos if he loses the ball and they counter us and score and win, Yikes!

As for our boys, Diaz was poor, just like he was vs Utd. Same for Macca, as well. All in all, we battered them as @IR said, created enuff chances to win the game comfortably BUT they are 2nd for a reason. They don't want the ball, are defensively disciplined (Nuno's calling card) and have won 6 in a row without conceding. We take the point.
