With Konate unlikely to sign a new deal, do we think we will see him sold this summer?

30 Mar 2025 17:01:40
I’d imagine he’s waiting to see what direction the club is heading and what the ambitions are before committing himself.

30 Mar 2025 17:56:14
You have to sell if he doesn't want to sign this summer, if we have to rebuild our entire back and forward line this summer, we can't keep letting players go for free.
Not even our management is that incompetent surely.

30 Mar 2025 18:46:32
world cup year, you either sign or go!

30 Mar 2025 19:28:20
He’s waiting to go to PSG at the end of next season. The club can’t sell him if he doesn’t want to go. PSG save £50 - 60m if they wait for a year so where’s the incentive for Konate not to run his contract down?

30 Mar 2025 20:23:42
Direction?
The club is heading to be champions.

30 Mar 2025 20:29:10
the club can bench him, as said above world cup year. enjoy the bench.

30 Mar 2025 20:53:21
And who is playing instead of Konate @Kurt. You don’t get the math. The club ain’t got the money to bench Konate. Other than a left back I don’t see any additions to the backline this summer.

30 Mar 2025 21:39:58
If he doesn’t sign then sign his replacement this summer and stick Konate on the bench or in the reserves all season.

30 Mar 2025 22:37:21
Nah, rather have him in the squad.

30 Mar 2025 23:23:31
Why am I reading posts saying we don’t have money. Clearly that’s nonsense.

30 Mar 2025 23:24:24
If he’s here, use him. He is contracted to the club and is a good (sometimes very good) player. It’s a business and he would be a valuable asset next season helping us to (at least) qualify for the CL in the following season) . Cutting off our collective nose to spite our face, is economically speaking, unsound and is also childish.

31 Mar 2025 02:35:45
Sell him there will be plenty of takers, PSG would spend £40-50m on him this summer defo.
Others would too.
We need our management team to be as ruthless as the next club, and all this talk of one player only this summer is complete sh#t$ its not possible the squad needs an update and I firmly believe there will be 4-5 new players with 6-8 sold or loaned or leaving.

31 Mar 2025 07:06:08
If he’s not signing get rid. We can’t afford to keep giving assets away for free. Completely unsustainable for the way we are run. If it continues we will be mid table in the next 2/ 3 years with no hope of winning the league unless we get new ownership who are willing to inject cash. Even that is becoming more difficult with new rulings around ffp.

31 Mar 2025 07:11:28
I often find there’s nothing more attractive to prospective new targets than to ostracise one of your first 11 on the basis they won’t sign on contract extension….

31 Mar 2025 09:31:56
Wow. Sometimes that’s all you can say.

@Shughes, do you really not see the similarity in TAA this season and Ibou next season . Real Madrid this season and PSG next season? TAA and Ibou being of a very similar age and arguably not yet at their peak? TAA wanted to move to RM and Ibou wants to go to PSG and the club can’t sell anybody who only wants to leave if they have a legally binding contract which is the case with both TAA and Ibou.

31 Mar 2025 09:34:08
Other clubs don’t constantly have these issues. It’s non negotiable, sign or your up for sale. Get the fans behind the club. At this rate according to the incompetent few we just simply let all players run down their contracts and leave for free. The most important thing is the club and winning trophies the club needs to become ruthless when it comes to players contracts.

31 Mar 2025 10:15:53
All this nonsense chat that players who are running their contracts down, on purpose by the way, can't be sold but we need to grow some balls and say rot in the stands then. it's immoral imo that players do this . esp the younger ones . We going for a title n yet all we hear about is contracts. Trent is organising his pay day with his new club n people are saying good luck to him, he been great serant blah blah , I think he is taking the piss, n hope his injury keeps him out for the season so he can't have his 'sad' farewell to the fans.

31 Mar 2025 10:57:42
If we believe everything we have seen in Papers and social media, we would be left with, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboslai, Jones. and so would need not just 1 or 2 players but a whole new defense and Attack, Oh and a Number 6 to help Grav, that wouldn't just cost a fortune but would also probably wreck any chance of competing next season due to players need time to bed in, let's just chill get the league won and see where the ride takes us. YNWA.

31 Mar 2025 11:26:41
I suspect a Konate deal will get done when Virg and Salah's deals are concluded.

I think he loves it at Liverpool and would like to stay.

Whatever he's done with the performance coaches this year seems to have worked to minimise his muscle injuries. Other than that Endrick assault, he's been fairly robust (touch wood to not jinx it) .

31 Mar 2025 12:31:19
@worzal69, this is why the Isak thing is a pipe dream and you didn't even need to go as far as you did in terms of revamping the squad. IMO, We may not need major surgery esp. should the Big 2 stay BUT we're going to need 3 to 4 players at least for the first 11 and those won't come cheap.

We spent 145m or so revamping our midfield 18 months ago alone and those where 4 players. We're going to need that type of investment (if not more due to inflation) this coming summer. Now if the Big 2 leave then, the money's going to be crazy.

31 Mar 2025 13:21:19
@Strom, how is it immoral? The club and player agree a fixed term contract at 5he agreed salary level for the stipulated term of the contract. There is no morality involved - it is a business transaction willingly entered into by two parties who are aware of, and agree to, the terms and conditions of the contract.

@Mark - ‘sign or sell’ is a pretty good slogan and as it only has three words everybody should manage the idea within their concentration span. The trouble is the club can’t sell somebody who is willing to see out their contract. That is probably what happened with Trent and is going to potentially happen with Ibou. You can’t sell someone who, for whatever reason, sticks within their concentration span terms and conditions of their contract and is willing to sit the contract out.

It’s frustrating for us all but it isn’t illegal, it isn’t immoral it is just the fulfilment of a contract.

The reason it is happening is that it is two very good players who seem to have a specific wish to play for particular clubs. I don’t think this will be a common occurrence although it has (sort of) precedents in players wanting to play for their dream clubs, notably Coutinho and, to a lesser extent, Suarez, who may also have been motivated by money, in the not too distant past.

WDW football is not like any other job . Liverpool fc is for the fans . n people who play especially born n bred scousers who run down their contracts knowing that the club won't get a penny in transfer after we've nurtured him since he was 6 into a professional very well played footballer, that immoral in my eyes . so all this he signed a contract between 2 parties baloney doesn't wash. don't get me wrong our management should have made it clear to everyone with 2 years left either sign or go. no more bosmans for us, when we can get millions.

31 Mar 2025 16:17:33
Wouldn't it be interesting to be a fly on the wall in management meetings over the last two years?
Surely, they knew important players' contracts were running down. If they offered the players new contracts and they wouldn't sign didn't they realise it would turn into a huge problem. Looks like Trent did.
